Alexander had a far better season than Tugay...there isn't even an argument. One was the main man, the other being given cameo appearances. One won promotion, the other got phased out.

I'm not talking career comparisons here, just what happened the season gone by.

One is a Premier League footballer who has played in the Premier League for 8 years, including the last one.

The other most certainly is not.

One thing is for certain - if Burnley play with Graham Alexander in centre midfield in the Premier League they will be absolutely mullered.

You can't say the same about our Toogs.

There is a difference between having a good season and being a better player... Of course Alexander had the better season, but quality wise there's no competition. At all.

In all fairness that is exactly what Nicko said. He said that over the last season, Alexander has been a better (ie, more usefull) player than Tugay, and you cant really argue. He never said that Alexander had more quality than Tugay over their respective careers.

But isn't that slightly irrelevant thing to say, as shown by some of the comedic examples that followed? Besides, he originally said....

Alexander. Better than Tugay last season...and better next obviously.

'Better than' is different to 'better season than'.....

Tugay is possibly the most technically gifted footballer we have had in recent years... if Alexander was better, we would have signed him before Burnley did... granted that he has had a good season & the team he plays for have been promoted... but I have seen Tugay dominate top premiership midfielders (most notably frank lampard a couple of years ago when we beat chelsea 1-0 at ewood, end of season) he hasnt had a consistent season because the pace of the premiership will inevitably catch up with a 38 year old (who smokes!!!)

We will see this time next year if we are saying the same about Alexander, lets see if he manages to even get a look in against even your average prem midfield... if Owen Coyle is niave enough to think Alexander will be a key burnley player, or for that matter play more than half of next season, they are resigned to relegation before a ball has even been kicked.

Unfortunatley for burnley, Alexander cant even be mentioned in the same breath as Tugay... in terms of technical ability, vision, skill and aptitude for the game, these 2 players are in a completly diffrent league!!!

No point comparing Tugay & Alexandra, in 2 different leagues, 2 different positions, different type of players. We will see what impact Alexandra has next season - end of.

According to Setanta - his agent says MBami is in talks with us at the moment.

But, in a different league, you cannot, whichever sport, elevate one over another who play at different levels, this is the point,

I know 13 year olds scoring 50 goals a season but they wont win the golden boot!!!

You simply cannot compare, what you can say is Alexander has had an excllent season, is a great proffessional and a credit to the club, game and himself !! End of story.

In simplistic terms.

Anything associated with Burnley FC cannot be a comparison to Anything associated with our own BRFC UNTIL the end of next season.

Leave it AN.

Lets see where the two clubs finish, how the two clubs fair against each other and how the season pans out in general before we begin any comparisons.

Coaches and Managers have a little saying during training and matches, 'Do it early' free kicks, throws, passes etc and it appears as though Big Sam is practicing what he preaches, he appears to be doing things early in the transfer market and that can only be good, hopefully the big fella will get his targets.

I wonder if he has decided which players will be released yet??

Sam mentioned about the facts for set-pieces, if your the best at defending them, and the best at attacking through them, then you would finish 10th or something there abouts from that alone. Something like that anyway!!

Think he is trying the set-piece ability to our game. 6ft 4 Right back, 6ft 7 Centre back, maybe a big target man. We just need to sort out the actual set-piece takers next. Hopefully Gamst can regain his ability to take the inswinging corners.

To be fair though Kelbo a lot of the targets we want are free agents so there's nothing stopping you and you kind of have too [move quickly]. You'll probably find our "big" buys are nearer the end as only the top clubs can really afford to by before they release players so they usually do their business earlier than everyone else.

Yeah, good point but even so he is moving early, suggests he had the targets, thats called good management, Ince didnt seem to have done any homework last year and seemed lost.

One thing about all this is that most French based players are technically very good and hopefully they will do well for us, both Valery and Perez were decent when they came over to play for Rovers and Givet looks quality.

I wonder if the blues bar will have frogs legs on the menu next year???

Form is temporary, class is permanent.
