Kelbo Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 What's the retained list? When Sam decides which players will not recieve new contracts, released or placed on Transfer List
modes98 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Tuncay, Bent and Gunnarsson are all good shouts. Doesn't the Coventry guy possess a killer throw too? Indeed he does. MGP on the left and him on the right. Its like a dream come true! Seriously though we need to invest in a couple of talented young CM and bring them through. For to long we have relied on Dunn, Tugay, Reid, etc.
Amo Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Wait I thought Gunnarsson was a centre-mid??? Yeah, but you can't take throw-ins from the centre spot.
Hughesy Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 That Gunnarson lad has already pledged his future for this season to the club - so cant really see him happening, although we did have his agents at the game as our guests - nicko anything else happened? Following last nights awards - id suggest that the following will join Mokoena & Ooijer on the way out - Derbs, Gallagher, Zurab, RSC and a slight possibility of Samba (although nothing to suggest it from the other players with him).
Commondore Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Russian media (gazeta.nu) reports that we had scouts at Dynamo Moscow - Zenit this weekend to check out a certain Pavel Pogrebnyak. Three other players are supposed to have caught the scouts attention as well; Denis Kolodin, Kirill Kombarov and Alexander Kerzhakov. This seems like an attempt to just reuse the old Pogrebnyak story to me, but mentioning three other specific players is a bit unusual for those kinds of articles. Anyway; Pogrebnyak is a striker and so is Kerzhakov. Kombarov is a right midfielder/defender while Kolodin is a central defender.
Dunnfc Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Eddie - Ebondo from Toulouse the rb, is he any good because i watched a Toulouse game the other month and he really stood out for me?
Hughesy Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Wolves have abandoned plans to sign Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone after being quoted £8m for the 22-year-old. (Full story: Daily Mail) Id say we should do business on RSC in a straight swap with Bent & Huddlestone

LeChuck Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Could this player be worth a risk? Certainly no Roque replacement, but maybe worth a try as 3rd/4th choice striker. 6'2, quick, seems a good finisher...seems like he'd fit in well if he could make the step up.

Not a bad shout Le Chuck. Someone soon is going to take a chance on him. I'm not sure we'll risk a significant chunk of our budget on an unknown quantity though.
Nate Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 They appoint people, usually one for each club, to provide them with the data, and then have head researchers with a wider scope, who manage things and make sure there's some balance and realism in it. i.e so that whoever does Rovers wouldn't make Tugay the best player in the world, something we'd all be tempted to do So basically it's the fans who do this, which is why there's accurate data from a Conference club's reserve team even, because the person doing that data has been to see them play a bunch of times. Was pretty awesome when one of my classmates in 9th grade (15 years old) was in the game one year - and he had only played half a dozen games in the Swedish 4th tier. I know a few guys that are involved in the research for Australia. They always get a paid trip to Europe and get to see games.
T4E Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Another name came up at the weekend of who this could be - if and a big surprise if it is but things add up to a sensible possibility. Care to share the name, CK?
67splitscreen Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 How imaginative would Saviola be? I know we have been around the block a few times in the past with this wee fellow, not exactly at the end of his career (28) he's now 5th choice at Real, played only a hand full of games this season, mainly in the cup. This would be a Sam type signing and one that would need to be kept on the QT.
champions1995 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I'd be pleased with Beckford. If he doesn't want to stay at Leeds, I would take him if the deal was right. 34 goals is an excellent return and we need someone was has some pace as well as quality in the side. He is unproven in the Premier League, but it may be worth the risk.
The Rover of Finland Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Never seen Beckford but Swansea´s Jason Scotland is definitely good enough to score on PL level too.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 " The Guardian " says we've enquired about Cisse along with a few other clubs. I can't say I'm keen, he's a show pony in my opinion. He's got pace and he's not a bad finisher but i don't like his attitude on and of the pitch. Him and Diouff and Benny , not a good little clique there. We need to hold on to Samba if we can. It won't be easy. Plenty of people will having noticed his willingness to graft in an unfamilar and ultimately thankless role. It said volumes about his attitude. I don't think anybody will be buying him with a view to playing him up front though. Huddlestone's not what we need if we're planning to play Grella, Diouff and Pedersen in midfield he's no faster or more mobile than any of those. We need a bit of a dynamo in the there who can get up and down. Emerton with a brain transplant would've be ideal.

There has to be something wrong with Saviola as he's been offered around last 5 summers, but no permanent takers, just the loan spells with Monaco and Sevilla. Probably ridicilous wages.
champions1995 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Never seen Beckford but Swansea´s Jason Scotland is definitely good enough to score on PL level too. Scotland's a great player and I'm sure he would jump at the chance of playing in the Premier League.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Never seen Beckford but Swansea´s Jason Scotland is definitely good enough to score on PL level too. 30 turning 31... Id rather we spent money on youth in our frontline. When Roque and Derbs leave, our frontline will be Benni (31 - 32 this year) and Roberts (31 - 32 next year). We need to start bringing in youth if were offloading Cruz (27), Derbs (23) and Gally (24)... Derbs wants to stay at Rovers: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...ays_Derbyshire/ The good news is that the article says we are unlikely to be persuing our interest in Andy Van Der Meyde after his trial was completed. The article also mentions that were discussing a new contract with Gamst...
CAPT KAYOS Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Care to share the name, CK? Not at the moment on here just in case - nothing concrete but interesting none the less
JC4LAB Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 ..Newcastle going down just shows how much a dangerous season this years was ..With Hull and Burnley in the same league next season theres only one relegation slot to worry about so perhaps we now take a risk or two rebuilding ,and not worry about choosing a safe option
Eddie Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Eddie - Ebondo from Toulouse the rb, is he any good because i watched a Toulouse game the other month and he really stood out for me? Ebondo is good and better than what we have, but nothing special.
DanLad Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 ..Newcastle going down just shows how much a dangerous season this years was ..With Hull and Burnley in the same league next season theres only one relegation slot to worry about so perhaps we now take a risk or two rebuilding ,and not worry about choosing a safe option Last season there were no slots to worry about as West Brom, Hull and Stoke were all going back down... It's that sort of thinking that saw us get Paul Ince in...
