1864roverite Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If Sam could control Barton then I wouldnt mind seeing him in a Rovers short. Granted, he has some serious baggage, but, as a loanee we win hands down if he performs. If he fails we just send him back to Newcastle and he is their problem again. Joey Barton is a talented footballer on the pitch, he has a short fuse and his brain lacks common sense. If anyone/anything can tme him it would be Sam and BRFC, a club that hasnt got the spotlight full on media attention. I agree he is far better than anything we have at the moment.

Fife Rover Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Alexander is priceless and unavailable. Unfair to compare anyone to him. He plays every game. Can't think of too many anywhere who did the same last season. Compare Barton with any of your current midfielders by all means... How many of them played regularly and scored many last season? It is a very weak part of your squad. Barton is better than Andrews, more mobile than Grella, fitter than Dunn or poor old Reidy, obviously he has not retired like Tugay. So he has more to offer as a player than any of those. It would all come down to controlling the stupid side of him. I am no too sure how well he would play wearing leg-irons and a ball and chains wrapped round his arms as well.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 It would all come down to controlling the stupid side of him. I think the use of sedatives and relaxants is frowned apon by the Premier League...
roversmad95 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 whats wrong with andrews? ROBBIE KEANE grabbed a 38th-minute equaliser for the Republic of Ireland as they drew 1-1 with Nigeria in a friendly at Fulham last night. The Spurs striker latched on to a defence-splitting pass from Blackburn's Keith Andrews.
nicko Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 whats wrong with andrews? He's OK as a squad man, but even your own manager thinks he is short of Premier League standard as a midfielder...which is why he has been given a go at right back. To be fair, he's not been bad value. But for a club with top-half ambitions he is not the answer.
Steve Moss Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Barton would be a disaster. At lot has changed since Sam signed Barton for NUFC. He has done not much to prove himself as a player, let alone a team player. He's on the wrong side of the cost-benefit analysis.

Nicko what do you think the chances are of RSC staying next season?
bennyboyt11 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 thanks but i also agree with sam ha! Nicko what do you think the chances are of RSC staying next season? Would of thought very high seeing as he's done nothing this season to warrant his price tag.
captainhaircut Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 What about Kevin Nolan rather than Barton? Allardyce would surely get the best out of him again and he could be picked up for about 3m.
The Rover of Finland Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 What about Kevin Nolan rather than Barton? Allardyce would surely get the best out of him again and he could be picked up for about 3m. You have my vote. He played very well under Sam but not after that.
nicko Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Nicko what do you think the chances are of RSC staying next season? Hard to say...his injuries put a doubt in lot of minds...but there are things going on behind the scenes that make me think something could happen...only thing is it could be August before it does...
nicko Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Nicko will there be a 11 oclocker tonight ? No, watching one of my musical heroes this evening with the lovely mrs nicko. An 11 am-er tomorrow.
AJW Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 No, watching one of my musical heroes this evening with the lovely mrs nicko. An 11 am-er tomorrow. susan boyle?
joey_big_nose Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Hate to be the stereotypical foriegner who only suggests players from his own country but... are we still linked with Michael Bradley? I know we had been... Hughes was a big fan. He has dropped off the radar though recently.
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Nicko, don't know if this is true, just been told. Apparently Sam is at the Athletico Madrid vs Almeria match and Neil McDonald is watching the Valencia vs Athletic Bilbao game... Only other bit of info is a Athletic Bilbao midfielder is being watched... Could you check this out for me?

No thanks, a real one dimensional player. He's actually got worse as he gotten older. No better than Andrews now.
Dave S Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 No, watching one of my musical heroes this evening with the lovely mrs nicko. An 11 am-er tomorrow. Lynyrd Skynyrd by any chance??

Jason Rover Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 saw nicky hunt in an indian restaurant in atherton and he reckons hes coming to rovers next season on loan
Guest benmaxwell Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Bilbao - Javi Martinez? That would be my guess to but unless we could get him on loan, it would probably set us back about £6 million...
