Nicko, I know you can't reveal the mystery striker, but will it excite us straight away or will we be helping him develop for a year or two then lose him to a big 4 side club?

it wont excite you immediatley , the guy has scored plenty of goals but not in PL , if it works out sam will be consdered a genius , if it doesn't ..well for the price ...it wont be considered a huge failure

i would guess it would be similar to the benni and RSC price range?

With regards to the Stephen Warnock situation, sometime during the late hours of lastnight he was at liverpool airport, where a freind of mine who works there asked him for an autograph for me... Anyway to cut to the chase, my mate is a Liverpool fan & he mentioned to Stevie about moving back to Liverpool as they need a good left back (he was obviously joking!!!)

His response was...

'I am very happy where I am, I will not be moving anywhere this season, especially not back there!!!'

I think that is pretty clear... unless he is pushed, he doesn't want to go... Very much deserved player of the season, he has been fantastic & everytime there has been speculation, he has quite rightly quashed it, again showed lastnight to my mate!!!

I for one hope he stays for as long as possible, as he's one of the very few players to pull the shirt on this year & wear it with pride... could be a legend here if he keeps on like he is!!!

Rovers were into the player - via one of his agents - a few weeks ago but the price and terms were unrealistic.

Maybe relegation will clear a few heads. That one could have legs.

Now he would be a great signing... but would either need to keep RSC, or sign a target man for him to play with... Its a mouth watering combination though when you think about it... Roque's arial ability, strength and intelligence, coupled with Pongolle's pace & movement... The only draw back is neither of them are the best of finishers (RSC's not the best with his feet anyway)... but they would create a hell of a lot of chances, there would definatley be some goals in that partnership!!!

I suppose we can but dream... Pongolle would command decent money now wouldnt he???

I always thought we passed up a good opportunity when we opted out of signing Pongolle on a permanent basis, especially for the asking price and with Bellamy leaving shortly after. He looked a very promising player.

Not so many goals, but from what i can gather he has played wide right more than centrally... He's still a good player, just not 20 goals a season. Maybe 10-15 a season, but will create chances & lots of em, will also scare defences to death with his pace... The more I think about it, the better his signing would be... between £5m & £7m should get him I would have thought!!!

Yep the very one. He got injured the next game but for that season, he was la liga top scorer with Villareal. Busy forward type but hard as nails and PACE to burn!
