Nicko, have you heard any rumours about Sam looking to bring in Ricky Sbragia once Bruce is in place at Sunderland?

I can answer that one. The answer is a 100% definate no... He will take up a coaching role at Sunderland under the new manager... He is as loyal as they come, so fair play...

Elrio is a right sided midfielder, pacey winger. Can play in central midfield as well. We have a much more talented player playing in South Africa, that according to most will be a bigger star than Steven Pienaar. His name is Teko Modise, and people are saying he is already a better player than Pienaar. Will probably leave SA soon to join a European club.

Might see him in the Premier League next year?

20 posts moved to new thread. If you want to discuss the merits of Journalists and 'Sources' then do it elsewhere.

Stick to topic guys. Transfer talk only please and can we not have page after page of random world class players being plucked out of the air and pointless questions being asked of nicko.

Most of the pages are the constant "are we having an 11 o'clocker" or asking a question someone has asked 15minutes before. Please exercise some self control and try use some common sense.

Aston Villa favourites for Civelli apparently...

http://www.footylatest.com/aston-villa-to-...ntine-defender/

That article is even more silly then the Mail article. It quotes the player from what he said at the weekend and doesn't give any quote/info to justify the claim that Villa are interested, let alone ahead of us in any possible race to sign him... My guess is the reporter has brought up a list of teams in the Premier League. Removed the teams to good for him, and teams not good enough for him and closed his eyes and pointed at the screen...

The Lazy journalism that is quoted on here astounds me. I would't whipe my ass with that story and it doesn't deserve the quote it is printed on...

According to the BBC Sport Gossip page, Tottenham want to sell Chimbonda to us for £3 million and apparently Harry wants to bring Paul Robinson back to Tottenham. The article also says that Spurs want Marseilles Lorik Cana, who is valued at £5 million. If that's the case, then we should definitely make some inquiries for him.

Just been on SSN that we're in for Chimbonda. Probably nonsense but i'm sure we can do better than him.

nicko has confirmed that we are interested in Chimbonda I think. Could happen. In terms of talent easily the best right back who is available. Shame he is an idiot.

Yeah definitely talented but believed his own hype a few years ago getting into the world cup squad etc. Done zilch ever since!

Can't see it happening unless he goes down the psychological route Bentley did thinkinf Spurs would offer him a better platform for England. However, Gomes was decent for the last third of the season so I can't see Robbo wanting to sit on the bench. Also Unlike Keane, Defoe and Chimbonda he has improved by moving away.

Can't see it really unless they want to give us Gomes.

England goalkeeper, young, improving = £10m as a minimum!! Cold hard cash or go away!

I honestly can't see robinson wanting to go there anyway. He looks confident, fit and has got his England call up. He might want to go somewhere but I don't think it will be spurs, and I'd think he'll be one of those key players allardyce was talking about building the team around. As a keeper you are guaranteed your spot if you are doing well - you don't get rotated so no need to move to get first team games - and why would we want to sell a player who is playing well in a crucial position? Really good goalkeepers are hard to find. we've been lucky that this one looks like working for us so lets hope it's all just newspaper speculation.

I agree - Robbo has stated since he has been here that he plans on seeing out his contract (4 years) and then earning another deal with us. He seems very happy at Rovers and has already mentioned how Sam & Bobby Mimms have improved his game already - so why should he change.

Robbo would be mad to go there - they already tried wrecking his career once!

I'd like to see Robbo stay he's looking the fittest he has been for a number of years and this is having a hugely positive impact on his performances.

Chimbonda no thanks, another overrated donkey with a huge ego.

I don’t like this perceived opinion in the media of us being a feeder club to spurs either.

As Nicko has already said. Chimbonda is being actively put out there as available by Spurs and we are showing interest.

Really do hope we don't splash £3 million on him though, or at worse, allow Robinson to go as part of the deal. If we ended up paying anymore then £2 million for him, i would be disappointed as we have better places to be spending that sort of money. Ie, midfield, which still needs work...

Robbo would be mad to go back to Spuds. It's plain to see that is main problem has been psycholgical and he seems to have overcome that with some brilliant performances. He doesn't need to be at a big club to play for England, just needs to maintain his form.

Please not Chimbonda, all my enthusiasm for this transfer window would vanish if we bought him. £3 million for a 30 year old? When will we learn?! He's not even that good, and he's probably less loyal than Lucas bloody Neill, who incidentally is pulling his 'I'm not signing a new contract so I can cash in on a Bosman deal' trick. Classy bloke.

I think Chimbonda would be an excellent signing for us. Just the sort of person Sam can get into shape and get focussed. Great at centreback as well as fullback. Can play in midfield if he has to. Bags of prem experience. If we can get him for 2m and to take less wages (is this likely? Hmm...) then a steal.
