We should have a look at the Man City squad for bargains. There going to be signing alot of players this summer, which will inevitably mean many will be surplus to requirements. Cant see City holding out for massive transfer fees either, as they hardly need the money. That Johnson is highly rated midfieder who currently seems to be just a squad player

Who knows. I know one person who has given personal assurances he will have a job though.

Niall Quinn... Doesn't go much higher...

It does now - Ellis Short...

When they said he had a job for life it seemed like one of those platitudes where both of them know he'll be looking to move on, but if he can't they'll find a space for him at the training ground. I think he'll be going.

Those at City hold him in really high regard... He has been injured all season which is why he's not played, but ask any City fan & they will tell you that he has a bright future.

I think the only possiblity is Sturridge in a swapper + cash for Santa Cruz. Not sure if that one has been & gone though???

(There is that Fernandes though, hes not a bad midfielder!!!)

Isn't Johnson the one whose "injury" has been hard to diagnose? It could be people putting two and two together to make five thousand, but he likes his nights out and then can't train because of mystery niggles that no doctor can confirm...

I've heard the same, but it seems that the City fans I know, would like to see him stay & do well, the potential is there, but I doubt very highly that we will see him realise it in a Rovers shirt... send him to spuds, he'd enjoy it there I reckon!!!

Have you been in a coma for the last year ? Johnson's been out all season with a mystery groin ailment that has defied madical diagnosis. I wouldn't touch him with the proverbial. Onouha or Kompany ? That's a different story.

Nor really sure if this fits into the transfer category, but according to kicker-online the 18 year old Canadian Hoilett will end his loan at St. Pauli after this season to return to Blackburn, where the club hopes to get a "special dispensation" regarding the immigration issues. He's made a big impact in Germany.

Sturridge is out of contract, any team would have to pay a nominal fee to City for his training but thats it. If Chelsea don't want him now they have Kaka in their sights then maybe we should make our move.

Wages might be a problem though... Was he not asking for 60 grand a week from City???

If he comes to Rovers, hes getting a tenner & free breakfast!!!

Abdoulaye Faye of Stoke City seems an interesting one, especially as he was voted their player of the season hopefully Sam will be able to bring him on board.

They've just offered him a new deal and i'm sure I read somewhere that he is on the verge of signing it.

Decent but i'd be disappointed if that was the type of qualtiy we were trying to bring in.

Eh. Isn't the only reason he's leaving City because he wanted an extortionate amount in wages?

rather keep Zurab then signing him, i think we are ok for centre halfs if we sign Givet and keep hold of Samba, not to forget Nelson.

It's that time of day when you start thinking about news.

this mystery man of nicko's, nicko can you do a photo job like we did with the away shirt. :D

Nickos on to something, pretty sure about that, he normally is around, but he has passed the deadline for his newspaper so maybe he's lending Owen some of his salary for a player or two :glare:

Guest benmaxwell

He didn't mention the Elrio van Heerden last night and didn't do a 11 o'clocker.

I'm starting to wonder whether he's climbed over the wall and defected to those Eastern (Lancs) commies at Turf Moor...

The reason he's leaving City is because Ched Evans is preferred to him. I think the £60k per week wage demands were just to ###### off the powers that be at City.

Apparently he said he wants to 'stay at Stoke for the rest of his career' and has even turned down a move to Arsenal so don't think there's legs in that one.

However, Sturridge for a nominal feeas as a replacement for Derbyshire at £3m and free Heerden for Villanueva (£4m saved) would represent an excellent start for Big Sam.

Nicko, who seems to have a close link him, stated that this wasn't the case and that he simply refused the contract they offered and they were trying to discredit him. His main issue was with the management of city and that he wasn't being or would be picked.

I don't think he or is agent can realistically expect £60k a week from any club.

Wasn't planning an update as there is not much new...and I have had something else on...but...

SEAN DAVIS - quite possible although Bolton think they are getting him.

STURRIDGE - still more likely to go to Chelsea.

MYSTERY MAN - just give is time.

ROBINSON - not going.

ZURAB - looking for a new home...Galatasaray want him but he would prefer the Prem.

WEE ELRIO - looking forward to seeing him in the Confederations Cup before making a judgement.

Managerial mayhem elsewhere. Wigan in for Martinez, Celtic still sniffing around, Bruce not yet done at Sunderland.

No questions please. Knackered.
