Wasn't he a free transfer?

Ok, let me rephrase that - we won't be bringing anybody in for a noteworthy fee until Roque is gone. Plus, Sam says this guy is unlikely to feature until after Christmas anyway.

Hughesy, I have faith in Sam, but it'd take something quite exceptional for him to strengthen the midfield in the way it needs to be without spending any money.

A fee isnt always necessary to improve. Plenty of good freebies knocking around. Hopefully Elrio will go on to be a bargain signing.

I agree it will - Personally I dont think he will sign too many for midfield - I think alot of 'hope' is going to be put on getting Dunn, Reid & Emerton all fit.

We're screwed if he's relying on Reid and Dunn to be fit.

Sam has a magnificent record of keeping players fit (even the geordies were fitter than normal while he was there). I think Dunn will be ok, tbh. But this will be make-or-break for reid or he will be sold to a lower league side. I personally think that Reid will be ok, from this season onwards. I get the feeling he is one to be breifly plagued by injuries, but comes out of it fine and wont be injured again other than minor niggles. I must stress this is MY OPINION on what will happen and not fact. Now to get this crystal ball back on ebay....

cant wait to see Reid hoof the ball 5 yards over the bar every time he tries to shoot.

no really. IF we get a fit squad, then we are easily a top 10 side.

No faith at all in Reid and Dunn getting - and staying - fit.

Never going to happen is it Mum? The two of them are saved by us continually changing coaching staff and them getting a fresh start. Hopefully someone in the know (do we have anyone like that left?) has clued Sam in to the need to replace them instead of putting faith in them.

No agenda.

This time last year Warnock didn't like Ince and Ince told him about Newcastle United - in front of the rest of the players.

A few weeks ago I found out Tottenham still want him...and that the present manager may be willing to sell.

We shall see.

You really need to give it a rest on Warnock.

You spent all last summer desperately trying to flog him off to Newcastle - never happened.

Now you're trying to do the same this summer with Spurs and are alleging completely without any foundation as far as I can see that Sam is willing to sell.

Taken from the Telewag:

SAM Allardyce will step up his search for a midfield ‘engine’ after warning Rovers fans patience could be needed with his first summer signing.

After signing South African winger Elrio van Heerden on a two-year deal on Monday, Allardyce will now look to strengthen in the middle of the park - although no deals are imminent.

Tottenham right back Pascal Chimbonda has been strongly linked with a £3million move to Ewood Park in recent days, but the Lancashire Telegraph understands the club have no immediate interest.

Boss Allardyce is understood to have been considering a swoop for Chimbonda when he was out of favour at Sunderland in January, but Rovers have now cooled on a move for the versatile Frenchman

Man U won't let Scholes go just now.

Can't see Huddlestone in a Bolton shirt...something dark would be more flattering.

If your thinking dingles, then I suggest it would be a bit pointless for one season Nicko.

I think nicko meant that it's ill advisable for gentlemen of considerable girth to don white garb, as it accentuates said girth. Hence him stating that dear old Timmy wear darker clothing.

I think you mean Tom... :)

If that's the case, vertical stripes would be better. So Stoke or Sunderland it is then....

He's look very lopsided in a Rovers shirt - one side much slimmer than the other and then he'd turn round and all would change. Sorry - I'm writing reports and it gets to you like that!

Warnock has stated both publically and privately (according to two people on here who have spoken to him away from the cameras) that the only way he'll be leaving is if he's sold. That doesn't mean BFS won't sell him of course but given our current squad size I can't see it unless we sign someone else better in the mean time.

i think the most we lack in this team right now is speed and technically gifted players. we need speed up front so that we can be dangerous in counter attacks and play behind the other teams defenders. right now teams we meet can put us under pressure all the time because we do not treat the room behind their defenders. we also need speed in the back four, which we totally lack right now. and of course a box to box midfielder who can score goals.

emana might be pretty cheap, as well sa mbami at marseille. and like i've said before i would love us to go for seitaridis.

i would like us to get in for leroy lita if we could get him on low wages as well, as an impact player, because i think he has a lot of potential in him and clearly great pace!

maniche is also free. which can give us some needed skills at midfield, of course with lover wages.

how about jeremy mathieu from toulouse.. have heard good thing about him..

Guest benmaxwell

I know it would never happen, but i would be more then happy to hand Spurs Cruz in exchange for Huddlestone, Bentley and Bent. Even if it meant us giving them some cash ontop. Those 3 players could be the difference between finishing in the bottom 8 and the top 9...

He's not going anywhere... unless its a stupid offer, realistically, whats he worth to us... £8m,£9m,£10m even... same as Robbo, going nowhere!!!

I'd never thought of that. Good job we've got rid of the halved away kits ;)

Newcastle bid for Warnock remember - and your manager at the time wanted to do the deal.

Of course, you may know different.

Revidge, please do explain how a usually rational poster comes out with such nonsense? If a club bid for one of our players, do you not expect it to be reported? Unless of course you had proof that it never happened - if so, lets hear it.
