Guest benmaxwell Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 When do you see us making our next signing of the summer Nicko? I was lead to believe that it would be sooner rather then later...
nicko Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 This one? Sunderland confirm Bruce And Martinez to Wigan moves closer by the minute. Plus Mowbray to Celtic now seems inevitable...Coyley not for turning. Which means West Brom and Swansea will be looking for managers soon. And Magilton to QPR...out by September? When do you see us making our next signing of the summer Nicko? I was lead to believe that it would be sooner rather then later... Hopefully soon...but that is not a cue for an 11 o'clocker.
rovers1995 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 What position will the next one be nicko, not the name of the player but the position?
roversmad95 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Still mainly managerial... cheers... why is the deal for givet taking so long to complete?
Doaksie Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 No idea, pal. Seems to think anything written is a slur against a manager or whatever. If you knew the stuff I kept out of the public domain during Ince's time you would howl. And, no, it remains classified info - even now. Well, keep those updates coming Alan - much appreciated. Makes the football-less Summer that bit more enjoyable!!
nicko Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 cheers... why is the deal for givet taking so long to complete? I honestly think it is done and agreed by all parties...it's bound to be some technicality about money changing hands. I would take that one as being a done deal.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Nicko, are you sure this mysterious striker would walk into our squad ahead of the likes of Benni and Roque? Nicko: I honestly think it is done and agreed by all parties...it's bound to be some technicality about money changing hands. I would take that one as being a done deal. Maybe were trying to sign more then one player from OM, and by putting it off, we can save on the taxi/plane fare?
Backroom Tom Posted June 3, 2009 Backroom Posted June 3, 2009 cheers... why is the deal for givet taking so long to complete? Maybe he thinks his baby daughters health is more of a pressing concern than rushing to sign a contract?

I would take that one as being a done deal. Apparently, Givet's two week old baby daughter is ill in hospital so they are not going to announce the signing until she is fine. Get well soon.

nicko Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Ewood and I Would asked a legitimate question and was insulted for it. As anyone around last year would tell you...Newcastle made two or maybe three bids for Warnock...all were too low...why they kept trying is something for you to figure out yourself... The player was unsettled by the manager openly talking about the move with his 'old mate Wisey' and also looking into [a] getting a replacement or taking Damien Duff as part of it. As for being insulted? If the cap fits...
Baz Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 If we can get decent cash for Warnock, on top of what we pay for Givet - then I'd be tempted to take it. God knows how he won player of the year! One of our most inconsistent performers - Wigan away / WBA at home anyone? Don't think much of the first deal - a winger who failed in Denmark and wasn't exactly scintillating in Belgium - but he shouldn't be on massive wages. I'd like to hope that we are going for some real quality this summer - but am worried that it wont happen.

So Ince wanted to sell but the money wasn't right? Thanks that's all I wanted to know

That wasn't too hard. Btw, how was my guess about Mr.X?
RevidgeBlue Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 The player was unsettled by the manager openly talking about the move with his 'old mate Wisey' and also looking into [a] getting a replacement or taking Damien Duff as part of it. Don't you think the player would be equally unsettled now by your comment today that the current manager would sell when I'm presuming what you really mean is not that the manager is actively trying to sell him but that every player has his price? Please don't fire back with an insult, it's a genuine question.
Iceman Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 This is getting ridiculous now. Mods please, some of us got banned not so long ago for going slightly off topic. If i was Alan, i wouldnt come on here. If Nicko should get a pound for every question thats being asked, then he might have enough to buy Rovers at the end of it all.
Ewood and I Would Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Don't you think the player would be equally unsettled now by your comment today that the current manager would sell To be fair Revidge, I think Warnock has got better things to do than read the ramblings on here
nicko Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Btw, how was my guess about Mr.X? Only one guy got Mr X...he will be garlanded and serenaded if/when it happens. Don't you think the player would be equally unsettled now by your comment today that the current manager would sell when I'm presuming what you really mean is not that the manager is actively trying to sell him but that every player has his price? Please don't fire back with an insult, it's a genuine question. The manager would sell Warnock at the right price because that is football...in this case Rovers have signed a player who will be left back next season...they are also a club needing to balance the books...and there is a club with cash and an interest in him. Young master Warnock is nobody's fool. He will know the script about this - without needing to wade through this messageboard. If Nicko should get a pound for every question thats being asked, then he might have enough to buy Rovers at the end of it all. If I got a pound for every question I would already have bought Partick Thistle and installed the Great Man as their new manager.

Do you not think though that Givet has been signed just as much with centre half in mind? Or that the intention might be to use Warnock in midfield?
modes98 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Final Warning! Stay on topic and read what has gone previously.
nicko Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Thank you. Do you not think though that Givet has been signed just as much with centre half in mind? Or that the intention might be to use Warnock in midfield? Givet looks better at left back...Warnock was hit-and-miss in midfield. Stunned he got player of the year with Samba around.
Hasta Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Stunned he got player of the year with Samba around. Samba did well upfront but towards the end but he had some shaky games during the Ince period and even under Allardyce at the back. Apart from Wigan away, Warnock was solid all season and worked his backside off no matter what position he was played in. Regardless, next season I wold want both these players back in their 'natural' positions and concentrate on completely revamping the midfield.
Fife Rover Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks, hard to keep track sometimes. That's because of all the silly baby-arsed chatter that always distorts the sense of this thread and causes annoyance to all the sensible mature readers. And I am sure it must cause Nicko to grit his teeth in a large number of cases before he answers. Edit: I am not referring to you in the above Billy.
