nicko Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It will be very interesting to compare how Martinez does to how Ince did... wasn't he in the frame for us last year? Martinez was a contender at Rovers a year ago. Did well last season and deserves a crack in the Premier. Makes me smile that he is rated so highly...and still finished a long way behind the Great Man in the table.

mellison24 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Cheers anyway Hughesy! Don't they know that the fans know best??
modes98 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Sorry Mellison - I contacted a guy the other day about the SA player that Iceman mentioned but they wouldnt allow me to pass any names on, they assured me they have a very thorough scouting network etc and therefore couldnt pass the info on.....Shame but thats not my choice! If that is true then that is very poor by Rovers. The club should take on all the info they can get, then make a judegement as to whether or not to follow it up. There are always players that slip through your normal networks and it would be awful to miss one because you don't listen to people who watch a lot of games.

Guest benmaxwell Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Nicko. Any Rovers related news 'at all'... Getting the impression were waiting on players going out ie, Santa Cruz, Derbs, Zurab & Gally before we bring players in...?
BRFC1995 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Better than what we have but not one of my favourite players and certainly not at £2.5m. as far as strikers go he's worse than every striker here, as far as midfielders go now the axe has gone he is also worse than any midfielder here.......he's more washed up than yorke was when we signed that lump.

Eddie Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 If we sign Smith then Allardyce can't complain about a lack of funding. A combined 3.5 million (or more) for Diouf and Smith, plus 60+k a week on wages represents a huge waste of money. It would be Fowler, Baggio, De Pedro, Mokoena and Rigters all rolled into one.
nicko Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 who's the great man Nicko!!! I do the funnies. Nicko. Any Rovers related news 'at all'... Getting the impression were waiting on players going out ie, Santa Cruz, Derbs, Zurab & Gally before we bring players in...? One or two things going the right way, but too early to report...or mention in PMs. Patience. How is talking about Roberto Martinez not rated as "off topic" Modes? The schoolyard squealer is back...

There are always players that slip through your normal networks and it would be awful to miss one because you don't listen to people who watch a lot of games. Lets just say that a number of people read this board daily (JW included) so im sure they will pick up names that way and pass them onto their network just incase.

Getting the impression were waiting on players going out ie, Santa Cruz, Derbs, Zurab & Gally before we bring players in...? think your right im getting the same impression... hope big sam brings in a good CM player that can score goals, something we havent had in a long time... ( i know people dont like him but nolan scored a few goals for bolton) i wouldnt mind santa cruz staying and proving he is worth 20 million im sure if he get 10 or 12 goals by jan he would be gone then...
LeChuck Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 The schoolyard squealer is back... Well to be fair, we do have a 'Other PL happenings' topic where it should have been posted. It's really not difficult to put things in the right place. You wouldn't put your articles in weather section of The People, would you?
Gus Gus Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I have just thought as I was writing that, maybe you meant it in a 'look at what we could have won' kind of way. If you did then I agree entirely, I would have been very happy for Martinez to get the job at either point last year. I think he'll do very well at Wigan. Yep, what I mean is that we should feel pretty darn silly if Martinez does really well with Wigan. Although I concede there could be reasons why we didn't hire Martinez that I don't know about.
nicko Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Well to be fair, we do have a 'Other PL happenings' topic where it should have been posted. It's really not difficult to put things in the right place. SOMEBODY ASKED ME ON THIS THREAD IF I THOUGHT HE WAS WORTH A BET YESTERDAY...SO I GAVE THE INFO BACK HERE... You wouldn't put your articles in weather section of The People, would you? IF THEY PAID ME I WOULD...
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Think we might be one of a group of teams in talks with Gelson Fernandes Nicko... Can you check that one out?
roversmum Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I really don't rate Alan Smith. If you are reading this and there is any truth in the rumour, dear JW, can you please point Big Sam in a different direction
LeChuck Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I really don't rate Alan Smith. If you are reading this and there is any truth in the rumour, dear JW, can you please point Big Sam in a different direction Don't worry, we've been linked with a lot of Sam's ex-players recently (Nolan, Viduka, Faye, Ben Haim, Barton). They're easy stories to make up.
BPF Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I hope that's all they are, made up stories. Your avatar goes perfectly with that comment.
tcj_jones Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I very much doubt that we will be signing any of these ex-Sam players. It's all just lazy journalism - made up stories designed to be contentious and to sell papers. As if we have the money to spend £4m on Nolan or £2.5m on Smith, not to mention their respective wages! They'd each have to take 50% pay cuts FFS!
modes98 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Transfer related stuff only please guys. Don't debate on whether something should be here or not either as that just adds to the problem. If it isn't I'll try and remove it.
Trickstar Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Rumour has it from a couple of Birmingham fans I work with that we are currently in talks for Sebastien Larsson
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 According to this, were keeping a close eye on Sebastien Larsson's contract situation at Brum. Can't say i have heard anything but we could do worse... http://www.eatsleepsport.com/blackburn-rov...lub-908975.html Edit: ((How spooky!))
Perth_Rover Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 If santa does leave could we replace him with Josh Kennedy from german team that was relegated. Has performed for australia in important games like vs italy and japan. Could be a cheap option?
