Even more so when you look at their list of Premier league clubs, WBA, Boro and NUFC, the quotes seem to be a bit out of date to regarding wanting to play in the Prem.

You've lost me?

Most the football websites online at the moment haven't updated their pages...?

Larrson -no. Nolan- no. Smith-no. I'm not happy if these really are players were interested in. I know we had to long ball it to get out of the mire last season, but Rovers fans won't take another season of it. Both Smith and Nolan are long ball team players. Larrson's just not good enough.

Think we might be one of a group of teams in talks with Gelson Fernandes Nicko... Can you check that one out?

Iv mentioned both him & Seb Larsson on here today - now they are both linked!?! Someones watching this site!! Maybe its stroke boy??

So who would you want Sam to sign then (realistically)?...........

I'm really glad there's someone else underwhelmed by the names being tossed around. I know we have no money but we still need to dream and most of the players linked so far are nightmares raather than dreams if we're honest. We've had some very good players in the recent past - not world beaters but players other supposedly bigger clubs coveted - and we need at least one player who other fans will say "He's too good to play for Rovers" about. I know we'll only get our hearts broken again when he leaves but it's about the excitement now. And after the season we've just had, I reckon we need just a bit.

If santa does leave could we replace him with Josh Kennedy from german team that was relegated. Has performed for australia in important games like vs italy and japan. Could be a cheap option?

Is that the same Joshua Kennedy who plays for Karlsruhe, who hadn't scored in the league in about 16 and who's only league goals all season came on the last day of the season? I'd rather not.

Agreed but most of those names have probably been picked up by passing totalfootballites looking for nicko-fixes and reading posters on this web site who tossed them in in the first place. The "ah yes, I remember Smiffy in the under-21s keeping Bentley out of the side" brigade.

What goes around, comes around etc etc.

If we judge Sam by his transfer deeds and not the LoonyToons media trying to justify his barcode sacking then we only have Givet, Diouf and wee Elrio to go by; they don't look like hoofball signings to me.

I await an LT Rovers triple signing exclusive tomorrow of Dobbin, Mule and Row-Zed.

To be fair to Sam he had a rather untenable situation at Newcastle. Aside from that his transfer history is pretty good.

Is Larsson really pants? Especially if his contract situation meant we got him for a reasonable price he's looked fairly good any time I've seen him, although I'll admit that isn't very often.

As for the mystery striker, I think that Nicko's been asked to keep us quiet for the summer by the club and a lot of energy is going into guessing who it might be! :) A cunning plan...

You have no idea how far wrong you are with that theory...

Owen - £6 million-plus.

Viduka [soon] - £4 million or so.

Smith [if they can] - £3 million or so.

That would be a decent start.

Well Owen is out of contract isn't he so that'll be gone, pretty sure Viduka is too and he won't be staying unless he signs a much lower deal. Smith they will struggle to shift unless they allow him to go for free and he takes a paycut at another club, Newcastle could well end up paying the difference in wages themselves for the duration of his contract and end up in a Leeds situation.

This article confirms the Viduka contract, http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/8046338.stm

Viduka is actually a great player when he can be bothered, even now, I'd take him on a free as backup if he'd accept 15k or so in wages, still probably looking for one last payday though, wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in Quatar or the MLS or something.

Josh Kennedy is pants! NOOOOOOOO Thanks!

Gummyboots - who would you like to see us sign then (realistically)??

Me - I've absolutely no idea. It's always much easier to say who you wouldn't like than who you would. And, looking at the names of Nolan and Smith well it's very easy to say no thanks because neither of them is very good anymore. I remember watching Alan Smith in the under 21s and he was decent then but that's the last really good times I remember him having. Beggars can't be choosers and I guess if it comes down to Smith or nobody then it might have to be Smith, but I'm just hoping it doesn't. As for names from foreign clubs and so on, I don't play any of the computer games and don't watch any of la Liga so how would I know?

He's going back to Australia. Was in a garage in Newcastle a mate works at, asking how much it'll cost to ship his Merc over there.

Olsson! No thanks, this guy was at the heart of the leaking ship at WBA, and isn't he the guy that got Roberts sent off?

A) He was the only good defender in a woefull defence. If you put Samba in a 4 man defence made up of the West Brom defence and him minus Olsson, they would have still been relegated... B ) Roberts didn't get sent off by Olsson, Olsson was just as mystified by the ref's decision as Roberts was...

Zaki is the complete package- when he is switched on. When I first saw him play for Wigan, he had everything you would want from a centre forward, I would be pleased with this signing- Nicko any truth?
