tcj_jones Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 For God's sake, Matty isn't Roque. £3m for a player of his calibre is great business and we can easily replace him. Sell now and let's move on!

alexanders Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 22.40: Ricky Sbragia is to head up a new player recruitment department at Sunderland. The former Black Cats boss will work under new manager Steve Bruce as they attempt to widen their scouting network ahead of the new campaign. Don't think he will join Sam Allardyce in Rovers then. Nicko, can you shed any light on this?
Kelbo Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 For God's sake, Matty isn't Roque. £3m for a player of his calibre is great business and we can easily replace him. Sell now and let's move on! Possibly, but not without a replacement!! Maybe Sam has an idea that Roque is either, on his way or not going to recover after injury!! wonder how we stand insurance wise if that wasthe case?
Iceman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 My guess is Gally, Derbs an Roque to leave. I know thats 3, but Gally hasnt done much anyway. 2 fresh new strikers, with something to prove perhaps could be good for the club. So people would rather have a guy, who is lazy, but knows how to score goals leave the club? Thats just madness! I like JRo, but he is just not a goalscorer. Sam might decide that he can get a big, strong striker like Roberts, but who can score goals.

Nicko, can you shed any light on this? I believe Sbragia is on a very good deal at Sunderland has some kind of golden handshake in there because he kept them up...so he is in no rush to leave. And he has his Happy Days Cafe job to fall back on too.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Nicko are those two strikers definately 'on'?
Brfcrule1 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I can't believe any of you get rid of a striker who has been top last season look at the stats below: Rovers McCarthy stats 2006-2007 Apps Goals Assists 36 18 1 2007-2008 Apps Goals Assists 31 8 1 2008-2009 Apps Goals Assists 26 10 3 Totals 3 years Apps Goals Assists 92 35 5 fairly impressive over 3 years ok second season not so great 2nd season but everyone has a poor second season look at Roque Jason Roberts stats 2006-2007 Apps Goals 18 4 2007-2008 Apps Goals 26 3 2008-2009 Apps Goals 26 7 totals for 3 years Apps Goals 70 14 just goes to show even when McCarthy had a poor 2nd season Roberts should have made that spot his own and obviously scored more goals also McCarthy is far more consistent in front of goal and Roberts has no assists in 3 years I know who I would rather have in the squad when fit back on topic Nicko any news on Shikabala the Egyptian attacking midfielder? are his club El Zamalek willing to let him out on loan for the year before a fee can be agreed?
Lurid Coat Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Yeah, I agree, I'd like to keep Benni too. Rumours have it that Sam isn't a very big fan of his, though, so I fear he might be shipped off back to Porto or something.
nicko Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Nicko are those two strikers definately 'on'? It's what Sam has told the Derbyshire camp...I don't see that he has any reason to lie...he wants to sell Derbyshire after all. He wants his men in first before letting Derbyshire go. Fair enough - as long as you land them.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Any idea when this is going to happen? Derbs will have been given an idea when things can proceed with Olympiakos...?
Iceman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Nicko any idea if we still interested in Shikabala? Ive heard that we very much interested in him, but again its just rumours coming from there. Its gone quiet on that front, as has the Chimbonda rumours which im glad about. Im still hoping for Seiterides to land up here.

You obviously like research so how does all that look if you take away the penalties?
Iceman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 You obviously like research so how does all that look if you take away the penalties? A penalty is considered a goal Gord. Whats your point? Take away all those penalties, and check our league position then.
nicko Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Nicko any idea if we still interested in Shikabala? Ive heard that we very much interested in him, but again its just rumours coming from there. Its gone quiet on that front, as has the Chimbonda rumours which im glad about. Im still hoping for Seiterides to land up here. There should be an invite to pre-season training...his club want to sell...but no buyers at the moment.
Iceman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Cheers Mr Nixon. Any further news on what fee Rovers want for Matt Derbyshire? If it has been mentioned, apologies. I know 3mill was knocked back, but what do Rovers want?
benhben Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 You obviously like research so how does all that look if you take away the penalties? Benni McCarthy is out most natural goal scorer and should play every match, not a bit part like last season. Get him fit and he could be the difference between a poor season and finishing top half. More natural goal scorer than Roque in my opinion. Cant believe he spent half the season on the bench last season.
Iceman Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 If we looking for an attacking midfielder, we should let Sam know about Mohammad Aboutrika. He is playing for Al Ahly in Egypt, and is about 22 years old. He is known as the Zinedine Zidane of Egypt, and is rated as Egypts best midfielder. Hughesy or anybody close to the club, should alert the club to this guy. Ill put my head on the block, and say he will be a brilliant signing for us and just what we need. He will be in the Confed Cup btw.
SergioPeter89 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 http://msn.tv2sporten.no/fotball/england/article2761822.ece An interview with Morten Gamst Pedersen, where he says that he is considering using the Webster Rule, so that he can buy himself from his contract now this summer.
roversmum Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 He's been asking for a new contract for a while now. Do we assume from this that he isn't going to be offered one and is looking to leave? Or is somenone's imagination at work?
rovers1995 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Pedersen said on sky this week that he wants a new blackburn contract and he loves it here, so can't see that being true.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Earlier than promised...between excellent Island Record documentaries on BBC4... MATT DERBYSHIRE...has been told he can't go until Sam signs TWO new strikers...this from a very good source...strange but perhaps revealing...hopefully my Mister X...I have a hunch on the other one but had better keep that quiet until I am sure...but it sounds like there could be two incoming strikers soon-ish. SUNDAY PEOPLE...will have a good tale about a potential midfield capture...fits the current bill and would be well-received. Full story in the paper or else on her on Sunday morning. Any news on this today people? As far as Roberts/Benni is concerned. Roberts is a bigger version of Dickov. Cant be relied upon to score but will frustrate and hassle opponents. Benni just sticks it in the net. Which one of those traits is more valuable......?
