One of the glories of being in the line of work i am in is i don't have the justify my comment. But when it comes out and people work out the maths, it will be proven.

In other news, Hull have agreed a £6 million fee for Frazier Campbell. Would love to know where they are getting all this money from bearing in mind they splashed out on Bullard...

When Hull came up they had ZERO debts.

By surviving they have a pot of cash along the lines of approx £35m, small wages to pay, relatively small outgoings this season so are cash rich.

So he's not sold his house...

Must have been a slow news day...

nicko on the subject of Arry wanting Robbo back, I've heard one rumour of a Pompey friend that Arry may get tempted back to Pompey if their takeover happens, any truth in those rumours? Saying that probably more chance of him coming in for Robbo then as a replacement for the ageing James!

On another note nicko we were linked with a fair few players over January, has BFS gone back to look at any of them now he has a bit more time or are they all dead in the water now?

One problem with Rothen is that it wouldn't fit the mould of lowering the average age of the squad that's been mentioned as a target.

Re. above, Surely in the line of work you are in you would know.

Wish i did know everything in the World of football, but unfortunately not.

Ah! Didn't realise they came up with zero debt. That explains allot...

For starters, nicko says the guy hasn't scored goals in the PL.

Definately Alan Smith then! :rolleyes: {{sarcasm}}

This Portsmouth takeover story is odd...the guy is supposed to be loaded...and yet the club is still trying to sell Crouch and Johnson...hmmm.

On Rovers targets - a lot of those being watched in January will still be on the radar, but I notice Janko did not even start for an ordinary Austria team yesterday while Dzeko is going to be playing in the Champions League. Vigic, of course, is still a big stump.

Rothen WOULD reduce the age of the squad. He is seven years younger than Tugay... ;)

Also Sam unhappy about what he has to spend on transfers and salaries and will attempt to renegotiate it once he's got his own situation settled.

You would have thought the board would have learnt their lesson after last seasons near miss.To not back Sam after what he achieved last season would be massive folly and misjudgment.

Who be this Vigic you speak of Mr Nixon? Is he the new superstar striker we after, unless of course you referring to ZIGIC! :-)

Would love us to get him, out of our price range I would have though though

No! Hasnt done anything, and would steer well clear.

Can we spend what we don't have?

I do find it depressing that for a PL side, our budget is so stringent.

Well its Rovers we talking about here. We aint going to spend millions, we just have to get on with it and hope we pick up bargains again.

Hmm. Elano would be interesting. He is the sort of player who needs protection. If you put him in a midfield with players who will do his running for him and just give him the ball he would be very dangerous. Pretty much the same deal as Tugay. For example you could line up:

Pedersen Warnock Elano Emerton

Get the workers to cover the ground and let Elano drop off and float around, and just give him the ball. He would probably have to play deeper than he does at Man City but i could see him being brilliant at it. He has a wonderful passing range. At City he just gets far too exposed.

On the other hand he does seem to be an utter idiot. Probably more trouble than he is worth. And his wages wuld be exhorbitant.

Sort of player that Sam turns around though.... Hmm.

edit - if he is being linked to Inter he is probably out of our range!

Why do people think the budget is any less stringent anywhere else. Liverpool are probably after frees or on a sell to buy and they need 2-3 players.

Smith will go to Sunderland.

Inter - have some money but most Italian Clubs don't. More bargains there.

On out wages we should be able to attract more players from Holland, they all play football and are big and fit. They speak the lingo, drink, chase girls and drive too fast. should fit in the prem okay.

nicko, you spoke about a pacy winger being possibly one of the players we are looking at, are we closely looking at anyone for that position?

Anything new on Civelli?

I think van Heerden could be the pacey winger...

Civelli linked with Birmingham City today, which is possible. He is a free agent, so he will be touted about everywhere before he picks his club.

I agree. We don't have the biggest budget in the world.. but we do actually have one!

Or be as good as Alfonso Alaves
