nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Any news on a right back Nicko? Chimbonda and Civelli seem to be the two under consideration right now...

Guest benmaxwell Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 anyone else think that Rothen seems like another Vogel? Vogel is a Defensive center midfielder, and Rothen is a Winger/Central attacking midfielder?
Iceman Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 On the other hand he does seem to be an utter idiot. Probably more trouble than he is worth. Its not his ability im worried about, its more a case of him drifting out of games far to quickly. He is a good little player, but we need players in midfield that will do their fair share of defending as well. That is exactly what I thought. Um Vogel is a central defensive midfielder, Rothen is a winger who is an attacking midfielder. To be fair to Vogel, towards the end of his 1st season under Hughes, he looked good. Whatever happened behind the scenes, we will never know. Chimbonda and Civelli seem to be the two under consideration right now... Has my Seiterides option been overlooked then?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I was thinking about Vogel in the "was-once-good-but-now-a-wage-chaser" sense.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Obviously, Rothen as "another Vogel" refers to a 30+ year old experienced player from a top European club who will likely not see much action and draw a big wage, rather than where he'll play. Don't fancy Civelli or Chimbonda.
American Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Are we looking at Rothen to play the wing, or the middle? I thought Nicko said he has been moved to the middle most recently.
nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Are we looking at Rothen to play the wing, or the middle? I thought Nicko said he has been moved to the middle most recently. I think he would be the midfield left-hand side of a 4-3-3...not sure he would have the legs to be an attacking left-hand side of a 4-3-3.

Doubt we going to play 4-3-3, as im going for 4-4-2 formation. A big target man, speedy striker alongside him, speedy winger down the right and left, creative midfielder, alongside a defensive midfielder. Wait, that doesnt look like a Rovers team.
bonerdude Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 nicko....how far is santa cruz off going or is that still in the balance of him staying
nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 nicko....how far is santa cruz off going or is that still in the balance of him staying All sorts of daft rumours about a quick sale...how can that be until he is fit? Interesting to see if he plays for Paraguay in midweek and what state he is in. Some nonsense in the paper about £10 million valuations too, but he won't go for anything less than £20 million [possibly including a player]. Spurs have to sell before they can even consider bidding...Man City have to get bigger names in before deciding whether to try. I don't think he is a 'must have' signing...more like a mid- to late-August job if at all. Unfortunately.
tony gale's mic Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I'd happily take £13 million and be done with it. His value is only going to drop and drop unless he starts scoring goals again, but when you consider he's only scored more than 5 league goals in a season once in his career, I think that prospect looks unlikely.
1864roverite Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 RSC wont play midweek he hasnt even gone to the training get together due to him not being fit enough. As for the media £10m valuation ? Well its total crap as always. One thing is for sure, before he gets sold he has to get fit. On that basis I see RSC still being a Rover until January's transfer window opens.
Iceman Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I think 10mill plus Darren Bent or Tom Huddlestone would be great. I think we not going to get 18 or 20mill, not even from Man City however daft that sounds. Can we guarantee that he wont break down again, so rather cash in and get a fit striker in. He is good, but he is replaceable.
Fife Rover Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Does anyone know whether Elrio played today? And if he did what was he like?
Iceman Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I didnt see the end of the match, but i think he played like 5 mins or so. Match was played yesterday, SA won 1-0 against Poland
Ewood and I Would Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Some nonsense in the paper about £10 million valuations too, but he won't go for anything less than £20 million [possibly including a player]. Hasn't he got an £18m buy out clause?
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Spurs have to sell before they can even consider bidding...Man City have to get bigger names in before deciding whether to try. Why exactly? Surely their are at least 3 players who Sam would be interested in getting as exchange/part exchange. Bent, Bentley and Huddlestone?
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Why exactly? Surely their are at least 3 players who Sam would be interested in getting as exchange/part exchange. Bent, Bentley and Huddlestone? Wasn't Bentley being linked with a £10-12 million move to Villa? I'll be very surprised if Spurs offer any decent cash plus swap deals (Cash plus a donkey like Chimbonda isn't a good deal!) for Roque.
andyroversmad Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Darren Bent and Huddlestone for Santa Cruz would be a great deal. Im sure Harry would go for it, Why isnt Sam pushing for the deal.
nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Darren Bent and Huddlestone for Santa Cruz would be a great deal. Im sure Harry would go for it, Why isnt Sam pushing for the deal. Darren Bent is on huge wages and over-valued at £10 million. More likely to go to Sunderland... Isn't Huddlestone injured...and a tad on the chunky side?
Backroom DE. Posted June 7, 2009 Backroom Posted June 7, 2009 A tad? Huddlestone is not only unfit but vastly overrated. I don't think he'd improve our midfield enough to warrant the fairly high wages I assume he'd ask for.

Isn't Huddlestone injured...and a tad on the chunky side? Be a little positive Nicko lol Id be happy with Bent and Huddlestone for Roque. Its still early days, so hopefully we can get some decent players in before the season starts. I wonder if Sam will take a look at Riquelme and/or Saviola. I can see it now. Rovers sign Argentinian duo :-)

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Some nonsense in the paper about £10 million valuations too, but he won't go for anything less than £20 million [possibly including a player]. Nobody will pay that. Not even City.
Eddie Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Rothen would be a poor signing. He's quickly losing whatever slightly above average ability he ever had.
