nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nobody will pay that. Not even City. In that case, don't sell.

ricardinho Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Chimbonda and Civelli seem to be the two under consideration right now... Surely Hutton would be a better option, given it seems both are available?
Dunnfc Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 The more i think of it the more it becomes clear, Kevin Doyle he played for Cork 3/4 years ago and was available for 50k or something, wouldn't Coyle being an Irish man go for him then?
philipl Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Huddlestone had major knee surgery two weeks before the end of the season.
nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Surely Hutton would be a better option, given it seems both are available? Hutton can't defend and would be expensive...
AJW Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 signing chimbonda would surely signal a move into midfield for emerton , i cant understand payin g £2-3m and big wages for somone who is not gonna play every game should emo stay at right back
roversmum Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nicko, I'm not surprised you are losing patience with some of the daft suggestions on here. I hate transfer windows
Stuart Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I'll stick with being realistic. Bent isn't worth it and neither is Huddlestone. Swaps rarely work. Take the cash and get the players YOU want. From what we keep hearing, cash means that the bank takes a lump to cover loans so player swap(s) would seem like a better option from Sam's perspective! Is the magical mystery player X still planned a permanent move or a loan?

Is the magical mystery player X still planned a permanent move or a loan? Still nobody has risen to my challenge and named one swap involving PL clubs in the last four transfer windows. SWAPS ARE EXTINCT, THEY DON'T EXIST ANYMORE.
ROVERS Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 any possibilty the mystery striker is paulychenko from tottenham?............ hmm........

Guest benmaxwell Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 SWAPS ARE EXTINCT, THEY DON'T EXIST ANYMORE. N'Zogbia>>>Ryan Taylor was a player exchange so not particularly extinct... I just remembered the Kevin Davies>>>Egil Østenstad player exchange... Lets hope it works out better then that one!
LeChuck Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 N'Zogbia>>>Ryan Taylor was a player exchange so not particularly extinct... He's got you by the short and curlies there Philip, probably shouldn't have used those capital letters...
SergioPeter89 Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 How long has Santa Cruz contract with Rovers? When u see how Paraguay is doing their qualifier, why dont wait to next summer and see him score some goals in the World Cup. Making his value fly to the sky!
Stuart Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Still nobody has risen to my challenge and named one swap involving PL clubs in the last four transfer windows. SWAPS ARE EXTINCT, THEY DON'T EXIST ANYMORE. I have to disagree. With the gap now yawning in terms of finances between the haves and the have-nots, they have to be considered. Whether or not there have been swaps in the past 4 windows is irrelevant - and being selective and only looking at the last 2 years is just you being cute to back up your argument. Having said that, wasn't the Mido-King switch classed as a swap? Besides which, they only have to be work for one party in the deal to be a success - both sides would be taking a gamble. If we swap RSC for another player or players, I won't be the slightest bit concerned about him/them. There's no need to use CAPS, your stance is pretty clear, and is up there to be shot down at some point... EDIT: I see it has already started. At least you got your wish! N'Zogbia>>>Ryan Taylor was a player exchange so not particularly extinct... I just remembered the Kevin Davies>>>Egil Østenstad player exchange... Lets hope it works out better then that one! If we're going back long enough - Andy Cole and Keith Gillespie was another good example.

nicko Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nicko, I'm not surprised you are losing patience with some of the daft suggestions on here. I hate transfer windows There's no need to panic yet...a good defender signed, a squad winger cheapie added. A very good striker in waiting, an accomplished passer in the pipeline and a couple of possible right backs being considered. Reasonable progress I would say. Patience goes all round in the last week in August. Right now it's just juggling ideas - daft and otherwise. And, by the way, I love transfer windows.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 As a matter of interest, has mystery man been guessed on the boards yet? Quite a few new names have been suggested since you last said it had all been silent.
adbo99 Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 nicko, just out of interest - you think there is much truth in the stories today that Micky Owen is on the verge of joining Aston Villa............... i was hoping big Sam was gonna pull one out the bag and bring him in.........

You might just be nearer than you think, didn't want to say anything as another club are in for him aswel. I have never used this site before, It's probably a stab in the dark, guess nicko will answer that one. Kevin Doyle. He just answered that question above, Oh well.

I know for a fact that Everton want Owen and have been talking to him for weeks. They want an answer soon. Owen's agent has strong Villa links and may be pushing him there. All the best if he wants a quick decision from Martin O'Neill... Everton's won't wait forever, so Owen had better be careful or he will only have his horses for company next season.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I bet it's somebody really obvious as well. You've kept this suspense up well, it'd better be worth waiting for!

bats Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nicko, will the mystery striker be on loan or as a permanent signing?
