Heard an interesting one yesterday at Wembley that Sam wanted to buy him for Bolton from Inter Milan.

Yes, Sam did want him at Bolton (and even tracked him at NUFC).

He's been back at Brock today. Fitness is fine. Something cropped up, so more time needed.

He was on BIG bucks at Everton, but knows he has to make a cut.

Settled in North West, and wants to stay local for a couple of reasons.

van Der Meyde was a talent and a half back in the day. He was probably more effective than van Der Vaart even when they both broke through to the Dutch team. He had pace, crosses, an eye for goal. It doesnt all go downhill especially at his age. If his fitness is good, Id love him in our team.

I think you seriously underestimate Owen Coyle, I rate him very highly and if he went after him, he will be ok, I know he's the manager of the Dingles but he knows his stuff, not really made bad signings for Burnley and at the right money!!!

I'm a bit perplexed as to who burnley were after that is superior to both zaki and kuranyi..hhhmmmmmm. So this 'mystery player' is nailed on to be from the domestic scene then. Got a feeling it could be somebody like Wellbeck on loan (if a loan hasn't yet been discounted).
