nicko Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 nicko, you're not slipping any of this mystery quality striker info to your pals over at the turf, are you? Funnily enough Owen wanted him at one stage...but got knocked back. Better give him a bell. Only joking.

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 One can only hope... Heard an interesting one yesterday at Wembley that Sam wanted to buy him for Bolton from Inter Milan. So there is more to this than meets the eye. He is a fan of the player. I will tell you in the morning. Once the Mirror is out. That's a while ago now, he's done nothing since. In fact has he ever done anything ? The Dutch have a happy knack of bringing along players that flatter to decieve. Richard Witschge anybody ?
The Rover of Finland Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Nicko or someone, is this Marseille midfielder M´Bami any good? And is there truth he might come Ewood? His goal scoring stats ain´t good except for his country.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 He sh@gged yo're misses or something? I hope she's not that desperate ! Funnily enough Owen wanted him at one stage...but got knocked back. Better give him a bell. Only joking. Bloody hell Nicko, I thought you said this guy was good ! He's that good the Dingles wanted him. That's not a recomendation in my book.

That's not a recomendation in my book. At least he had the good sense to knock them back!

So there is more to this than meets the eye. He is a fan of the player. Yes, Sam did want him at Bolton (and even tracked him at NUFC). He's been back at Brock today. Fitness is fine. Something cropped up, so more time needed. He was on BIG bucks at Everton, but knows he has to make a cut. Settled in North West, and wants to stay local for a couple of reasons. His agent has also spoken with Aston Villa a few weeks ago.
nicko Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 His agent has also spoken with Aston Villa a few weeks ago. What about? The weather? Stunned at the level of interest in this guy.
SergioPeter89 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 If Coyle has had this player in his sight, I guess its someone like Kris Boyd..
Bobby G Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 van Der Meyde was a talent and a half back in the day. He was probably more effective than van Der Vaart even when they both broke through to the Dutch team. He had pace, crosses, an eye for goal. It doesnt all go downhill especially at his age. If his fitness is good, Id love him in our team.
EwoodGlory Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Steven Fletcher? Is Geordie Bruce really off to the Makems?
andyroversmad Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 My hopes of quality signing have completely disappeared if burnley wanted him
EwoodGlory Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I would rather have Lovenkrands, looked decent in a very poor Newcastle team.
nicko Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Didn't nicko say he was only joking? Not sure if he was on about the bell or Coyle. Coyley is not in the market for this player now...long story. Explain it later when the deal hopefully comes off.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 If Owen thinks he's a striker, then he's a good striker. And he is. I don't doubt Coyle's judgement of a player, especially a striker. The fact that Coyle thought he may have been prepared to play in a lower league doesn't say a lot about the guys standing though.
The Rover of Finland Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I would rather have Lovenkrands, looked decent in a very poor Newcastle team. He was related us somewhere today. On bench maybe but we should buy much better.

Kelbo Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 My hopes of quality signing have completely disappeared if burnley wanted him I think you seriously underestimate Owen Coyle, I rate him very highly and if he went after him, he will be ok, I know he's the manager of the Dingles but he knows his stuff, not really made bad signings for Burnley and at the right money!!!

G Somerset Rover Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I'm a bit perplexed as to who burnley were after that is superior to both zaki and kuranyi..hhhmmmmmm. So this 'mystery player' is nailed on to be from the domestic scene then. Got a feeling it could be somebody like Wellbeck on loan (if a loan hasn't yet been discounted).

First big signing - Chris Eagles . Currently warming the bench, for serious money.
