adbo99 Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I know for a fact that Everton want Owen and have been talking to him for weeks. They want an answer soon. Owen's agent has strong Villa links and may be pushing him there. All the best if he wants a quick decision from Martin O'Neill... Everton's won't wait forever, so Owen had better be careful or he will only have his horses for company next season. is ONeill that slow then....? glad rovers arent planning on any business with Villa then........

Stuart Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 You might just be nearer than you think, didn't want to say anything as another club are in for him aswel. I have never used this site before, It's probably a stab in the dark, guess nicko will answer that one. Kevin Doyle. He just answered that question above, Oh well. That report says Coyle will be given £25M to spend!
sparky12 Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nicko, will the mystery striker be on loan or as a permanent signing? correct me if i'am wrong but isnt it a loan deal ! !
Stuart Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Nicko, will the mystery striker be on loan or as a permanent signing? Either he's ignoring that question or we're both on ignore! correct me if i'am wrong but isnt it a loan deal ! ! I think both have been stated during the course of this thread.
PAFELL Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 All sorts of daft rumours about a quick sale...how can that be until he is fit? Interesting to see if he plays for Paraguay in midweek and what state he is in. Some nonsense in the paper about £10 million valuations too, but he won't go for anything less than £20 million [possibly including a player]. Spurs have to sell before they can even consider bidding...Man City have to get bigger names in before deciding whether to try. I don't think he is a 'must have' signing...more like a mid- to late-August job if at all. Unfortunately. I will be surprised if RSC is even sold this transfer window - maybe January if he proves his fitness and still has the quality. Doubt clubs would pay a risky £20 mill before seeing him play for Rovers first to see his fitness. It is not just physical fitness but game fitness that has to be considered.
Tom 1 Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 is ONeill that slow then....? glad rovers arent planning on any business with Villa then........ You know, the fans on here receive you a lot better if you just admit your a Villa fan, your not the first and won't be the last one to come onto the website to find out about transfers. I am a Villa fan, I just don't ask any questions anymore and quite like the backroom Blackburn stories!

67splitscreen Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 No. I think it's a very good idea and hopefully it comes off...but only time will tell whether the guy is the answer if you get him. I don't like the sound of that.
PAFELL Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 No. That rules out quite a few players, including the name mentioned on here today, shevchenco (spelling) Is the mystery player already playing in the uk?
thenodrog Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I don't really understand why you have got it in for Pedersen. He has done okay, much better since Sam came in, and he does his job well enough. He has not been any poorer than any of our other midfielders (which is not saying much, but still). And on top of that we simply don't have the money to throw him out for nothing and replace him. I think he will have a good year next year under Sam's guidance. Simple jbn.......... BRFC fans always have to have a scapegoat in the squad, it's a continual process.
thenodrog Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Why exactly? Surely their are at least 3 players who Sam would be interested in getting as exchange/part exchange. Bent, Bentley and Huddlestone? Not a chance. Have you any idea what those three would demand in wages? I'll stick with being realistic. Bent isn't worth it and neither is Huddlestone. Swaps rarely work. Take the cash and get the players YOU want. Correct. How many times does that have to be repeated before people will get swap deals out of their heads? Is this nonsense all down to that championship manager game do you think? Nicko, I'm not surprised you are losing patience with some of the daft suggestions on here. I hate transfer windows Agreed. If we have bto have transfer windows in the summer they should open and close from Mid May to Mid June then we could forget football and enjoy the summer.
roversmum Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Undoubtedly. Championship Manager has much to answer for... Still, no doubt Nicko would get bored if the summer transfer window was only a short one. He seems to like all the sleuthing
thenodrog Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Still nobody has risen to my challenge and named one swap involving PL clubs in the last four transfer windows. SWAPS ARE EXTINCT, THEY DON'T EXIST ANYMORE. Yes they do. As I've just told rmum that little lads computer game Championship manager still has em apparently.
Stuart Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Correct. How many times does that have to be repeated before people will get swap deals out of their heads? Is this nonsense all down to that championship manager game do you think? Generally, I'd agree with you (and Philip) but the concern regarding simply getting 'cash' for Roque (or I suppose anyone at the moment) is that our bank manager will come knocking on the door for a serious wedge of it. By doing a part ex, at least we get to replace our lost player - and have more chance of a higher calibre player than the likelly 2.5M 'bargains' - which are fewer and fewer these days and less and less likely to keep you in the top division. Championship manager? You mean like Alan Shearer?
thenodrog Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 nicko, just out of interest - you think there is much truth in the stories today that Micky Owen is on the verge of joining Aston Villa............... i was hoping big Sam was gonna pull one out the bag and bring him in......... Thats a gud un!! Michael Owen being a typical Allardyce type striker and with wage demands that would embarrass TYhe Sultan of Bruneii!
RovertheHill Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Thats a gud un!! Michael Owen being a typical Allardyce type striker and with wage demands that would embarrass TYhe Sultan of Bruneii! Yes, and what with Dunn, Grella and RSC we won't have enough gurnies in the treatment room
Kelbo Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Swap or no swap, the player will have a Value and the higher the players profile/value, so are his wages, wages are becoming th stumbling block for so many deals and not just at Rovers. The transfer window does increase interest from supporters and Nicko loves them cos they sell newspapers as we all read them to get the latest info!! Transfers put bums on seats too, people will go to look at new players and in some cases sell loads of items fromthe clubs shops!! A high profile transfer, if afordable to the club, could make the club more money than it spends, ie Beckham at Real
TimmyJimmy Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 With the Rocky situation we are blessed if we do and blessed if we don't. If we sell we get good money and buy new talent to balance up the team. If we don't then we have a proven class striker who, if we'd been the ones to be spending 20 million for him, would have us creaming our shorts this next season in anticipation I'm feeling good about the progress so far, love Givet, got a good young prospect winger, players coming back from injury, interesting names being linked and no real pressure to sell anyone.
rovgers Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 The more i think of it the more it becomes clear, Kevin Doyle he played for Cork 3/4 years ago and was available for 50k or something, wouldn't Coyle being an Irish man go for him then? Coyle's not an Irish man, he was born in Paisley. He only played for the republic because he was to sh1t to play for Scotland. His international career was less then 10 mins in a friendly game!
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Not a chance. Have you any idea what those three would demand in wages? Probably about the same as Roque earns baring in mind he would be leaving, so i dont really see your point...
JAL Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Cant believe people think Huddlestone is so wonderful when hes just a big, slow, soft lump of lard. When I think of Huddlestone, Steven Reid comes to the forfront as a better player, if fit.
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Weren't people calling David Dunn the same 12 months ago. People change, and to be fair, Huddlestone has got far more playing career time ahead of him to get in shape and prove his fitness.
PAFELL Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 any possibilty the mystery striker is paulychenko from tottenham?............ hmm........ As he has been mentioned on here before and Nicko has already said that the mystery striker has not been mentioned on here, then the answer must be NO. I think that the striker Nicko has in mind is somebody to play with RSC - which may encourage RSC to stay at Rovers. Who is the stricker RSC plays alongside in his national team?

That would be "The Bull" Salvador Cabañas, doubt Coyle has even heard of him.

When I think of Huddlestone, Steven Reid comes to the forfront as a better player, if fit. I'm not a fan either. His long range passing is excellent, but that's just about the only good attriubute I can see in him. Steven Reid was a better player. Unfortunately, the last time he was fully fit was so long ago that I doubt he'll ever be up to Premier League standard again.
