roversmad95 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Either he's ignoring that question or we're both on ignore! I think both have been stated during the course of this thread. i asked the same question abiut 8 pages ago.... nicko said BS wanted 2 strikers to come in but he did say one was a loan(guess mystry striker) not sure about the other....
unleaded Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Someone turns 19 years old tomorrow. Here's a hint: Blackburn Rovers are evidently presenting videos to the English FA of young Mr Hoilett in action this past season with FC St Pauli in order to get him a special ruling for employment with the senior club..............Thats how desparate Rovers are to get him...........Boys a star...................
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 How do you know unleaded? Looks like he has made a big impact there! Come on Jack Straw sort it out!!! Nicko you need to get that article printed, or at least sent to Jack to sort out. Anyone got his email addy??
joey_big_nose Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Good job there's clubs about that buy players like Jimmy Bullard, when he's as injury prone as Reidy. Anyway I understand that its a big 'IF' with regards to a club coming in for him, but it wasn't long ago when he was fit & playing that there were clubs like spurs looking at him. I reckon if Rovers wanted to sell they could, I dont think that we have to keep him, nor do I think we should, if we can bring in better players. Jimmy Bullard was having an amazing season, scoring lots of goals, getting called into the England squad and being Fulham's best player by a long chalk when Fulham sold him. He was fit. Reid has not kicked a ball in anger in nearly a year. How is that the same situation?
Paul Mellelieu Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I think saw this lad play against Freiburg in April. A great experience. Can't remember much about him though.
Amo Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Apparently we want Nikola Zigic, but Valencia are looking for up to £9m for the towering striker. Can't see that happening anytime soon, what with interest in Roque cooling down.
ffan Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Rovers in for Zigic - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5368931,00.html
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I remember us signing him and he was being touted as a huge prospect and in the world of Football manager he has been a bit of a cult hero. Seen a few youtube videos in the past and he looks very, very quick and has some serious potential. What are our chances of bringing him back? I know he has played the last 2 seasons on loan in Germany, i guess what counts against him is the lack of International football...
roversmad95 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 With the Rocky situation we are blessed if we do and blessed if we don't. If we sell we get good money and buy new talent to balance up the team. If we don't then we have a proven class striker who, if we'd been the ones to be spending 20 million for him, would have us creaming our shorts this next season in anticipation I'm feeling good about the progress so far, love Givet, got a good young prospect winger, players coming back from injury, interesting names being linked and no real pressure to sell anyone. i agree all positive.... im sure we will be happy be the time the season starts...(maybe not everyone)
nicko Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 nicko said BS wanted 2 strikers to come in but he did say one was a loan(guess mystry striker) not sure about the other.... I know about the Mister X move...and only found out there was a second striker being lined up because Derbyshire's camp had been told that was due to happen before he would be sold. I understand Mister X's move is still looking good, but I can't be sure about who the other striker is - although I have my suspicions.
LeChuck Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Any more news on M'Bami nicko? Seemed to be a bit of momentum with that one but we haven't heard anything for a while. We need at least two signings in central midfield and having no money means he's probably one of the best options available.
67splitscreen Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 David Hoilett.. Here is a link to the English supporters MB St Pauli

Last I heard Rovers still wanted to see him play...and he was not in the side. Sounds like a pre-season trial job to me.

I don't think we'll have a chance of signing him if that's true, I'm sure there will be other teams willing to offer him a contract without needing to give him a trial first. He's played for two of the biggest teams in France, played over 200 Ligue 1 games and is a regular international for a half decent team. Have we really not had any scouts watching him since January? Bit of a poor show if we haven't.

Decent player, but small. He hasn't played that much this season to judge him, so you can't blame the scouts for wanting to see him more and be sure.
adbo99 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Your still welcome - ingnore him. Adb099 - hope your buying yourself a season ticket then?!?! not had a season ticketsat ewood since Don Mackay and King Kenny were gaffers - ill get my fair share of games in this year though, its just Ill have to sit in he away end when the villa role into town............

unleaded Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 So according to Mr Nixon there is a Mr X and now there is another Mystery striker....can we call him Mr Y?.......................
rovers_rob Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 The unused story was about the kid Hoilett... Rovers are putting a strong case together to get him a work permit. I think it is an important tale, but obviously this is a view not shared. Hope the kid is allowed into the country. nicko, if Hoilett gets a work permit do you think this will change sams plan to sign 2 strikers ?
ROVERS Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5368931,00.html we have 10 mil to splurge on a striker!?
unleaded Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hoillett Plays on the wings and will push MGP for his spot no problem................he will easly fit into the 433...........
Bennisfromheaven Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Nicko, Jost wondering, will we find out who Mr. X is should the deal fall through? Like last year with the right winger that Ince was looking at but decided to stay where he was?
joey_big_nose Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Have to say I am excited about this David Hoilett... if he is as fast and skillful as they say that is good news. We literally have not had any real pace in the side since we had Bellamy four years ago. WIth Van Heerden and Hoilett they can give us new options. At leaast it will be interesting to see how they do in preseason.
