philipl Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 SSN saying all Newcastle players have been put up for sale. I would prefer a move for Beye, than Chimbonda. Sam signed him for Newcastle so might be able to pull it off. That has been the case since the day they got relegated. Actually publicly saying so shows the buyer interest is, understandably, underwhelming. They are all paid FAR too much.
roversmad95 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I still think we should take a look at to boost our attacking options. Good little player, PL experience. LITTLE being the word he is only 5ft 4in... lol....
LeChuck Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 LITTLE being the word he is only 5ft 4in... lol.... He's not exactly quick either - I don't see the point of getting rid of Villanueva in bringing in someone of a similar style. D'Alessandro is a better player but we'd still have the 'where to play him' problem.
Taggart Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Mr Y not... I will go through the whole Mister X thing if it collapses. Hopefully it doesn't. Hoilett would be an emerging player rather than a first-team starter, but maybe emerging very fast. what sort of stage is the Mr X at Nicko - have we agreed price, player demands etc ? and have we set any deadlines for it ?
nicko Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 what sort of stage is the Mr X at Nicko - have we agreed price, player demands etc ? and have we set any deadlines for it ? Working on it, hoping for an answer soon. There is only so long that something can stay quiet... Can't be setting deadlines as that is not needed in this case. No need to push the club to let the player go. It's just down to circumstances that will become obvious once the guy is named.

Could the circumstances be that the club currently does not have a manager or are about to lose one ?
nicko Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Could the circumstances be that the club currently does not have a manager or are about to lose one ? I can't give any clues...it's gone this far under the radar successfully...stick with it for a little while longer.
tcj_jones Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Nicko, (Apologies everyone if this has already been asked and subsequently answered) In terms of time frames, is this mystery striker situation something that could run all summer or something that is likely be sorted in the not too distant future?
gumboots Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I can't give any clues...it's gone this far under the radar successfully...stick with it for a little while longer. does that mean they've succeeded in keeping it under wraps or that it is progressing successfully under wraps?

I bloody hope it's soon, I don't think I can take much more of this! My guess is one of Man City's strikers and the deal is being delayed whilst they try and sign others (Tevez, Eto'o). Probably miles out with that though.
blue and whites Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 nicko: is marc jancko still being watched by rovers? anyway, here are all of his goals from the previous season http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/2690604/
Ronin Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 It sounds like it's being built up to be something good, and something to look forward to hopefully, after all, I never expected us to get strikers of the calibre of McCarthy or Santa Cruz when we did.
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Id like to know 1 thing about Mystery Striker X - Does the lad have plenty of pace!??

MMMMMM lets think......Circumstances? Injury? Contract negotiations? Work Permit?
Manc Rover Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Soon...soon. Does he currently play on these shores? Sorry, couldn't help but ask!
Guest benmaxwell Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Injury? Contract negotiations? Work Permit? Dependent on one of our players going the other way?
Hughesy Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 MMMMMM lets think......Circumstances? Injury? Contract negotiations? Work Permit? Player X has been out on loan?....Player X not expecting to be leaving? The list goes on.....
JAL Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Said this a couple of weeks ago, but if we are looking for a good solid attacking footballer, we should really take a look at Chris Brunt. After his performances last season, he deserves to be in the Premier League again this season... Thought he looked as slow if not slower than Mgp in the final game plus he missed a sitter that made Robbo look extremely good The little number 7 and number 21 looked interesting for West Brom they seemed to make Albion tick.
modes98 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Just something that's springs to mind but why are people continuing to push for this guys name. It is in the interests of the club for little information to come out about this deal so stop pushing for the info, which can be read by anyone and passed on to any club. But don't let me stop you lot carrying on.

Thank God, I'm not sure I can take much more of this either! He better be bloody brilliant, or you'll have a lot to answer for! Haha, only kidding Your input is appreciated as always, Nicko! LeChuck, do City even have any particularly good strikers after Robinho? Caicedo looks OK and Bojinov came with a big reputation upon joining, but has had career threatening injuries since. Other than that though, I'm struggling to think of any.
gumboots Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 This can't be good: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/8089700.stm It's hardly news though. allardyce said last year he wanted a smaller squad anyway. So it's a case of not replacing squad players with new squad players but getting only players in that are expected to be in the first team and on the bench.
