Wiggy Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I must say that wasn't a bad performance at all. I know it was only a friendly but it was played competitively. There wasn't much evidence of Big Sam's so called hoofball....our lads passed it around very nicely.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 2-1.... Brown goes right way but he's too small! 2-2...Doran scores
Backroom Tom Posted July 16, 2009 Backroom Posted July 16, 2009 Is there defo pens? I'm not seeing it
Iceman Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 One thing Sam. Good work out of that there is no doubt. Please do not let TREACY wear our shirt he is USELESS. Where were you Waggy, good football to be played on the floor and plenty of pass and move. I know its a friendly, but tonight showed that we can still play good football without needing a big target man.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 3-2... brown always goes the right way but he can't reach them! STILL 3-2 JUDGE MISSED.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 It was a weird sudden death style one. Judge missed so they won 5-4.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 We are rubbish at penalties. Sack the lot.
philipl Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Very impressive work out for Rovers. Apart from Jacobsen and Brown (both of whom were worryingly poor) Rovers completely rotated the team. Yet in both halves the Rovers were impressively set up with players running into space for clean simple passes and invariably when we tackled it was a Rover who picked up the second ball. Roma had pretty well all their first team playing at various times from what I could see. Their keeper was outstanding. Unbelievably bad penalty by Judge lost it on penalties.
brfcshabba Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Last season penalties was the ultimate end of Sergio Peter
rovers1995 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 We drew this game, the penalty shootout was not needed really. On the other hand who scored/missed rovers penalties.
Iceman Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 It was a weird sudden death style one. Judge missed so they won 5-4. We drew 2-2. We didnt lose!
Heinz Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 We drew 2-2. We didnt lose! Whatever gets you to sleep ;-)
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 We drew 2-2. We didnt lose! Quiet, Jose.
Backroom Tom Posted July 16, 2009 Backroom Posted July 16, 2009 The penalties are just something extra for the fans really, not to worry. Good night all round I'd say
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 We probably edged it in terms of chances in the end. Their keeper pulled off some great saves and we let in two sloppy goals. I was pleased with the players and the performance against a very good side. It was great to see the youngsters given the chance to shine against decent opposition. Judge's cross was superb to EHD to set up Doran. Just a shame he took the worst penalty ever!
Iceman Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Could we have won a trophy? Think we could have won the amor cup.
Backroom Tom Posted July 16, 2009 Backroom Posted July 16, 2009 I didn't see it but surely it can't be worse than Wilcox's against was it Sheff Wed?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Good result and workout by the look of things...we'll beat a big European name one day folks!
Balwer Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Philip I don't know why you think Jacobsen was worryingly poor, I thought he was quite solid. How often were we beaten down the left? Rarely. He doesn't push forward as often as a Warnock/Ollson/Emerton/Andrews would, but he's sound defensively and sticks to his man.
John Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I remember we played some nice stuff versus Benfica a year ago. Don't get carried away with pre-season folks.

Rarely. He doesn't push forward as often as a Warnock/Ollson/Emerton/Andrews would, but he's sound defensively and sticks to his man. I agree. He didn't look poor at all. I felt he looked pretty solid and fitted in well.
