rovers1995 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I think it's more the fact that the team is gelling correctly as a team. Also, there wsn't one long ball in sight.

Doaksie Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Excellent work-out and plenty of positive performances, particularly from some of the younger lads. Good night's work all in all. On we go to the 45 minute games at the weekend, and another step in the pre-season schedule. Hopefully another positive performance from those, as we head towards the City game.
bob fleming Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I didn't see it but surely it can't be worse than Wilcox's against was it Sheff Wed? That was Sheff Utd at Bramall Lane in the quarter final of the FA Cup (I think) This was a meaningless pre season friendly. Still you'll always score points with many for having a dig at Wilcox.

It took me years to get over that, cost us a Wembley appearance (to get to semi final).

Still you'll always score points with many for having a dig at Wilcox. Not me though I was a big Wilcox fan as it goes, when I think about bad pens that always comes to mind though. Weird thing is even with one of those if the keeper goes the other way everyone says its a good one.

I didn't start it - it was TCO! And you're right TCO - it wasn't his finest moment. When in doubt - smack it! Anyway - back to the thread. That's 6 goals in two games. A score draw against one of the Italian Super Powers. The clever money suggests we'll win the World Cup next summer. Altogether now: "Big Sam is Magic, He Wears a Magic Hat..... "
The Rover of Finland Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Just catched writings of the match. Doran and Judge seemed to be positive surprises. Big Sam could make two same level line ups. It´s good and bad thing. We could easily sale several first teamers or atleast loan out. McFlurry joke was hilarious!!
LeftWinger Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Regarding Jacobsen, I was chatting to an Everton fan about him the other night. He said he was their first choice right-back at the end of the season, and a much better player than Hibbert. The general opinion seems to be that he is a good solid full-back, but they didn't see much of him due to his injury. I think he'll be a good signing.

Hughesy Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I was very happy with last nights game - I was also very happy with how much we were in their faces - we looked like an aggressive pit-bull let of its leash, like the Blackburn of old.

I was very impressed with Judge, came and collected the ball from defence al a Flitcroft but his passing range is better than Flittys, Flitty had the aggression and tenacity though. Both Judge and Doran will come through, I feel pretty sure of that and with Hoilett and Di Santo we should have a bit of youth in the squad for a change!!

Both Judge and Doran will come through, I feel pretty sure of that and with Hoilett and Di Santo we should have a bit of youth in the squad for a change!! N'Zonzi and Olsson too. Could be a bumper year for a young squad. It's probably too much to expect them all to make the grade but if a couple do then it will be a real bonus. I always like to see a young player develop at the club. If I was to stick a fiver on who is going to make the biggest impact (without seeing Hoilett or Di Santo yet) I would probably go for Olsson. We have a shortage of attacking left footers and Treacy is clearly not up to it. I think the Swede will get quite a few chances on the wing. Judge and Doran face a lot of competition and really are a year less experienced. edit - scrtch that, N'Zonzi looks like he could be a regular within two months. Forgot about that.
Hughesy Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Who was it that went in for the 50/50 with the keeper (Doran?), and for a change didnt sh!t out......? Doran looks like he could push on, Judge is also one worth watching. Hopefully Holiette can now show what he's about, then we might get Di Santo and then NZonzi looks a good prospect too and he is young too. Also Olsson looked good, he put a peach of a cross in, and he seemed to be very pacey down the left too.
eddiewac Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Does anybody know what time kick off is against hadjuk split? says 2130 on official but is this local or our time? Oh ok just seen the fixture above it saying 2030, so must be local!
RoverRich Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmIyLZF3yO4 Highlights/Goals vs Roma Is it just me or is Jason Brown going crazy just before Riise scores his free kick? Sounds like he screams 'f*** sake Vinny'!
philipl Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Is it just me or is Jason Brown going crazy just before Riise scores his free kick? Sounds like he screams 'f*** sake Vinny'! He certainly was yelling like crazy. I think Jason Roberts leaves the space where the ball goes and wanders across the front of the wall at the start of the sequence. Who had the armband when all that was going on???
den Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Rovers played well last night. Kept the ball on the floor and Doran and Judge offered that bit of youthful enthusiasm that the first team usually lacks. The standard of the opposition can't be overlooked though.

You mean a high quality Serie A side with 5 time Italian Player of the year as captain?
