den Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 It says HT at the top. 46 MINS: Changes for Rovers at the break, Paul Gallagher and Morten Gamst Pedersen on for Benni McCarthy and Gael Givet.
joey_big_nose Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 It's looking more and more likely to me that N'Zonzi is going to start the new season. Big chance for Gally now. Needs to get a goal.

Local radio in sheffield is often good to listen to as they go around the grounds for updates on score It's looking more and more likely to me that N'Zonzi is going to start the new season. Big chance for Gally now. Needs to get a goal. It is 2 2 now

PAFELL Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Sheff Weds commentary identified the guilty party Roberts had a goal disallowed - offside
Exiled in Toronto Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Tudgay out-muscled Andrews for the goal. The LT report, from someone who presumably saw the game, adds a little more context to the equaliser: "Michael Gray’s right wing corner dropped into the six yard box and Marcus Tudgay was on hand to volley home from close range" Defenders and goalkeeper completely blameless then....

Defenders completely blameless? Don't we mark people from corners these days?!
Hughesy Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Dingles have lost to Leeds 2-1. Was Sam at the game today? Will be interesting to see if he says anything about any signings.
champions1995 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 It must have been eery in the gound today - 5,579 in a 39,00 all seater stadium. How many Rovers fans attended today's game and what was our performance like?
Tris Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Andrews was an absolute embarasment at right back. Andrews second best to the Leeds midfield this afternoon. Delph is certainly a much better player than Keith Andrews. Beyond that it is difficult to say much based on Saturday's game. This proves that the Republic of Ireland selecting Andrews is of no consequence whatsoever! Tudgay out-muscled Andrews for the goal. Are you going to do a running commentary on here to slag Andrews off all season long??
yellowsubmarine Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Are you going to do a running commentary on here to slag Andrews off all season long?? lol... seems like he owns www.twitter.com/why-i-hate-keith-andrews-so-much
owenrilla Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I wonder if Judge's best position at the moment is right wing. That's where he played for Plymouth (aside from occasional stints on the left) and outperformed Gallagher, most of the time. Problem for Judge is that Doran is preferred on the right wing for the reserves because his extra pace. I think a loan to a decent Champ club would be worthwhile for Judge - whilst Doran stays as a member of the first team squad. Perhaps I sounded a bit harsh in my assessment of Judge. He did actually play well and was clearly one of the more accomplished Rovers players, it was more that I was hoping to see something to suggest he might be able to push on and get in the matchday squad this season. While his pasing was tidy and he works hard and gets around the pitch I can't see it being enough to get him much closer to the first team especially if one or more of the crocks can stay fit. I don't think Judge and Andrews are all that far apart in terms of ability (cue rover6 rant) but that isn't much to shout about. The comparison with Doran is interesting. Doran is quicker, to the extent that he can cause opponents problems but I think Judge is probably the better at passing and crossing. I think another loan is the most likely prospect for Judge but I would be tempted to keep him around at least until we play the first Carling cup match and give him a start and see how he does.
rover6 Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Anyone who saw the game will be able to expand on this but - Givet a touch too slow to play left back? Sounds as if Jermaine Johnson got the better of him for their first goal. I certainly think that Givet should be CB'ing it for us. He probably will be.
MeanGreenMachine Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 It must have been eery in the gound today - 5,579 in a 39,00 all seater stadium. How many Rovers fans attended today's game and what was our performance like? There were quite a few of us, two of the stands were closed off so they had only their 'main' stand open, was weired though. On the performance we were shocking after 20min. Nelsen, samba (maybe harsh on samba) and jacobsen were @#/?, givet was solid though (suprise suprise). The midfield lacked pace, n'zonzi was the only one in their i would be happy to see starting come the man city game, though he needs to curb the enthusiasm and try and dominate the game (though he is brilliant and driving for every header possible ). Benni was fat and lazy and roberts put in a good shift. The subs never really made a impact. Special mention for keith andrews, the only two things he did worthy of note was dragging down the player in a goal scoring oppotunity (he would of been sent off in a normal game) and smashing the ball into the wednesday fans halfway throught the second half.

Tut tut. Such things should never appear on these threads.

Judging by the dozen or so games he played for us at left back in the Premier League last season I'd say no he's not too slow to play there.
