budha Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 14 MINS: Penalty to Dundee Utd as Nelsen brings down Goodwillie in the area. The Dundee striker takes it, Robinson dives to his left to make a great save.

mark1875 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 18 MINS: Worrying double change for Rovers as Ryan Nelsen and Paul Gallagher are replaced by Zurab Khizanishvili and Aaron Doran.
budha Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Samba off injured So both Nelsen and Samba off injured. Nice.
1864roverite Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I am glad that I didnt make the trip after just learning that we have picked up 2 major injury issues with Nelsen and Samba, all we need now is McCarthy to get a kick and we are struggling to put a team out next Saturday.
mark1875 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 just a thought, could sam be pulling players off to make it look like they have a knock to stop them going on international duty in midweek?
allanncd Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 No - according to radio report Samba was limping heavily with ice pack strapped to knee, Nelsen clutching his right thigh (hammy again?).
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 No - according to radio report Samba was limping heavily with ice pack strapped to knee, Nelsen clutching his right thigh (hammy again?). Bloody hell! Week to go until the City game, hopefully its nothing serious with either player.
Iceman Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Didnt need to play this friendly, and should realy have given the reserves a game. Could have Zurab and Givet, still not a bad combination. Worrying times though. Any more knocks, and we fooked!

RibbleValleyRover Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Benni now taken a knock? "66 MINS: Break in play whilst McCarthy receives treatment, he landed heavily after a challenge. He limps to the sidelines. But is soon back on."
Shabani Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 zurab doesnt have bad games he has catastrophically bad games ie west ham away, today...
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Would have liked to see us win our final pre-season game to take some form going into our first game of the league campaign. Its not ideal that we are getting beat, but whats far more worrying is the injuries we have picked up.
bubblerrovers Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Still can't score i'm very worried about the city game now
brfcshabba Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Right the warmup is complete now let the fun and games commence next Saturday.
Bobby G Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Pre-season is really not that important, although the lack of creativity during it is alarming and I hope Sam sees the need for a playmaker.

Overall i agree but you would expect performances to get better even if its only a small increase as the pre-season campaign goes on. With your final pre-season game you want to be getting close to being 100% ready for the new season. With a week to go Sam has a hell of a lot of work to do, especially with the attack thats been rather toothless.
Hughesy Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 It's purely about fitness at this stage, the only important thing is that the injuries weren't too serious. Next week has an importance on the footballing side of things, today wasn't about that!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Meh! 2-0 defeat is not good heading into the season. I know people think it's about the fitness but by now surely it should be about ironing out the things which didn't go right last season and during pre-season. They should be going into this game fully fit and ready to go. Oh and the result also makes the people who slated Burnley for losing 1-0 to Killies look even more stupid. Awful game and awful result.....thank god it was a friendly.

Next week has an importance on the footballing side of things, today wasn't about that! Next week will be fine because we will STOP trying to play football. Once we get back to catapulting the ball at the opposition, we'll be fine.
Backroom Tom Posted August 8, 2009 Backroom Posted August 8, 2009 Not great but the score is unimportant, hope the injuries aren't too bad. Oh and SACK THE BOARD
Mr. E Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Who's gonna play in central defense vs City if both Samba and the captain are knackered? Zurab and Givet? vs Robinhio, Tevez, Adabayor, Bellamy, Santa Cruz............
