LeChuck Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 The PL penalty is 9 points for some obscure reason. As a complete guess, I would think that is because we play a 38 game season whereas the football league plays a 46 game season.

RibbleValleyRover Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Sounds like Moko is making a big impression on Pompey fans: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A57857917 "Does this blithering idiot deserve the honour of being made skipper. What a pilock he is."
thenodrog Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Administration -10 points looming. They are going down, no doubt about it. Time soon to become one by dissolving both and merging with rivals Southampton who are also a long way up sh1tcreek. I'd imagine any required investment would be more attractive if (perish the thought) a worthwhile return on investment is required. If a few less forward thinking supporters are pisssed off then tough. They will need to rem the saying "The only constant in life is change". This country cannot sustain 92 pro clubs, something will have to give sooner or later.
philipl Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 It supports 114 pro clubs actually. And a lot of semi-pro clubs.
thenodrog Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 It supports 114 pro clubs actually. And a lot of semi-pro clubs. Really? Didn't know that. Thanks. btw ... How many would you personally invest in Philip?

American Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Just has an e-mail from a quite angry Pompey fan I know. He says: There is a fair bit about the new owner that I can't even put up on here but needless to say he is not a happy bunny. Pompey fan of about 40 years. He seems to be wrong, according to the club themselves.
only2garners Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Portsmouth are the lead sports story in today's Independent. Apparently the Premier league are on standby to take control of Portsmouth to stop them slipping into administration, under new rules. The league have had a secret transfer embargo on Portsmouth all summer. Where this leaves any points deduction I don't know. Storrie said yesterday that all the money from player transfers and all the Sky money from January has gone straight to Standard Bank - £35m.
Hughesy Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Is that not unfair? Surely they should have to enter admin just like others have done - and therefore face the reduction in points and also a big fine?!

The league have had a secret transfer embargo on Portsmouth all summer. Where this leaves any points deduction I don't know. Storrie said yesterday that all the money from player transfers and all the Sky money from January has gone straight to Standard Bank - £35m. The Premier League will not step in. That story was checked before and it cannot be done. It would be totally unfair to back them like that...there are 19 clubs who are quite happy to see them go - and quite rightly. There was NO transfer embargo. They signed players in the summer. The debt has been paid off, so this latest 'crisis' may not be what it appears. Watch out for someone else taking it over and then breaking the bad news that [a] they are skint and may have to go into admin to survive.
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Press making a big deal about Pompey's owner being in hospital: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8286657.stm Its like a soap opera.
only2garners Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Is that not unfair? Surely they should have to enter admin just like others have done - and therefore face the reduction in points and also a big fine?! I'll take Nicko's comments about the inaccuracy of the story but there haven't been any clubs going into administration and having a points deduction in the Premier League yet.
Hughesy Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Cheers Nicko - poor old Pompey! Ha yeah right - 1 less relegation place to worry about
LeChuck Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Beginning to wish I'd put far more money than I did on them to be relegated when they were 8/1...
Hughesy Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 The Messiah (King Kev) has just sued Newcastle for £2m + interest!
mickbrown Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Rumours about Redknapp? I really really hope its true, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I really really hope its true, couldn't happen to a nicer bloke I'd love it if it happened, hate Redknapp, hate Spurs.
Neil Weaver Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 The Messiah (King Kev) has just sued Newcastle for £2m + interest! He'd tried to get £25m, court decided on 'only' £2m, apparently a lot less than many folk thought he'd get.
Backroom DE. Posted October 2, 2009 Backroom Posted October 2, 2009 Didn't Ashley offer Keegan 4M originally?
Blue blood Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Seems like Brown's still struggling with man-management. Find this very odd. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2666389/Now-Brown-is-dishing-it-out.html Hull probably need to get rid to survive.
adopted scouser Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 They're beating Birmingham Two nil now - fortress Ewood ?
Backroom DE. Posted October 3, 2009 Backroom Posted October 3, 2009 If Wolves cannot beat Portsmouth at home I don't think there's any hope for them. There's going to be plenty of competition for relegation this year, much like last year.
