I thought I had the numbers at West Ham sorted but for £110m of debts suddenly to be revealed is just astonishing- I had them at around £48m.

The porno boys are clearly up to something taking just 50%. My guess is they have folded Stramur double over the table and applied a poker where the sun don't shine metaphorically speaking. A deal has been done to give WHam a better than evens chance of staying in the Prem and that is where the porno money is going now but I bet Straumur are still on the hook for past debts and it is over to them to try to get some value out of the remaing 50%.

I think this mega debt figure came out in due diligence and because the pornos are only handling current costs- keeping the current WHam players at Upton Park, that worst kept secret to bring in Sparky and the taffs has had to be abandonned and Zola has been given the vote of confidence prominently in the London papers tonight.

Hmm, thinks. Sparky must be paid off and not on gardening leave....

According to Sullivan they need to raise another £20m too -

"Our preferred option is that we find other people who want five or 10% and we will go to [AirAsia and Lotus F1 tycoon] Tony Fernandes, who was one of the others interested in buying the club."

Former West Ham youth team player Gold, 73, said that the pair had managed to avert the immediate danger of having to sell players to pay off debts.

He said West Ham needed to secure £8m in the current January window and another £12m by the summer.

I know what you mean I had them at a maximum of £64 Million, I am amazed we got into soo much trouble.

I find it very strange Zola is yes to say a word after the takeover.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind!

Portsmouth have 21 days to pay their £7.5m tax and VAT bill or face a winding-up petition in the High Court on February 10. With no new investment in sight the club are likely to have to sell players to raise the money or risk becoming the first Premier League club to go into administration.

Have to sell some players. But have they got a squad of that value?

I remember you and I having a spat about two years ago when I argued the numbers were far worse than WHU were saying. The gap between us was about £20m to £30m- not £38m (the club's public assertion) to £110m.

That is so bad that I wonder if it is tantamount to fraudulent trading and misrepresentation.

There were three other serious bidders- did they get true and fair information?

The porno boys have ONLY paid £20m for 50% of the business valuing it at £40m in total. That is a world removed from the £110m enterprise value Straumur were still talking about as late as Sunday night.

The £20m will go towards £5m on bank/legal fees and £15m on current working capital. That is still £3m LESS than the capital injection necessary to keep WHU solvent by June according to the numbers coming out.

No wonder people are being laid off starting with Nani. Zola is keeping quiet because:

1) He doesn't know what is going to be left of his staff.

2) Gold/Hughes discussions on Sparky taking over at WHU is the worst kept secret in football at the moment (although some of the things going on at Ewood might be even worse kept secrets :) )

Pompey are well on the slippery slope- they need £7.5m for the tax man by mid-February or they get wound up. And of course there will be lots more bills to pay. So how do you shift a bunch of totally over-paid under-performing players? You cannot.

Answers on a post card to

J Williams,

c/o BRFC,

Ewood Park.

Kaboul will get them close to £7m im sure....

Don't bet on it. Who do you think would be able to throw 7m at Pompey for Kaboul? Apart from Citeh the big clubs are mostly borrassic and are not able to spend, so there is none filtering down to the next level of clubs who would be most likely to be interested in the likes of Kaboul.

This is NOT a sellers market by a long way.

Besides which, who would feel the need to. this really is time for taking transfers to the last possible moment knwing that some clubs just have to sell. Keep your nerve and they will have to take what they can get if they can't get what they want. Perhaps sky will get some last day excitement this year.

I remember.....Serves me right for believeing Mr Duxbury.

What do you mean they have only paid £20M all the papers are stating they are paying £52.5M.

£30M goes to Straumur the rest goes into West Ham's coffers.

Sullivan was the only cash bidder so basically he was the only offer on the table, Intermarket and TF both wanted to borrow the funds against West Ham's future income streams but we now know these had already been sold.

Is Hughes definately taking over at West Ham ? I have been hearing rumours for the past 6 months that Zola wants to go back to Italy for personal reasons but wants to get West Ham safe first.

Do you think G & S will be good for the club ?

Nani will be no great loss nor will Scott Duxbury who has been employed at the club throughout all this from when Brown sold the club.

Of course they will......they are West Ham fans so they have your best interests at heart - just like Uncle Jack.

They will get further investment no doubt about it & moving to the olympic will boost your further.

What is the new stadium going to hold after the games!?

Why don´t they sell James? Young Begovic is better goalie. Will Harry do the "Chimbonda" again and buy Kaboul back Spurs? Just a guess. Not so long ago Pompey were very good top 8 club. Now they are going down and are in huge finance problems. It isn´t always a celebration at Ewood but we should be happy we don´t share their problems.

Lets hope your right, a few years of stability would be nice.

Not sure the Olympic move will come off, really don't fancy being miles away from the pitch because of a running track.....

Not sure about the size, at the moment its planned to come down to around 25,000 I think....

Is it permissable to point out at this time that 'beggars cannot be choosers' Mick?
