Backroom Tom Posted February 9, 2010 Backroom Posted February 9, 2010 Not quite RVR, the pen wasn't saved
Backroom Tom Posted February 9, 2010 Backroom Posted February 9, 2010 Viera is making Keith Andrews look like Patrick bloody Viera tonight. No but really, he's crap I thought Burnley was 0-0 but apparently they're 2-0 down
Gav Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Zola angered by new owners He needs to get used to it, the porn king and his minions have always conducted their business in the media, that’s the nature of the beast. I’d certainly give up football if they ever came anywhere near our club.
FourLaneBlue Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Not bad results so far...Bolton and Burnley both losing. Can't really expect anything from Pompey so if Stoke can get an equaliser then it will be a decent night for Rovers.

I am of the same view, don't think I could handle them anywhere near our club.
Gav Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Gold & Sullivan seem to spouting off to the press every day or so. I am of the same view, don't think I could handle them anywhere near our club. They did the same at Brum.
Bobby G Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 We are lucky that Burnley and Bolton are losing. Hopefully Stoke will pull off a draw against Wigan for a perfect evening.
philipl Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 I totally agree, just think the scaremongering about it being money out of our pocket is stupid. I don't know what to say! Concepts of mutuality and common ownership are clearly beyond you. Just accept that the 20 clubs ARE the Premier League which doesn't exist except as an association of 20 clubs. Saying the Premier League should help Pompey is the same as saying the other 19 clubs should help Pompey. Rovers own one twentieth of the PL so if the PL loses £72m on helping Pompey, Rovers own one nineteenth of that loss. Apart from running its own office, the Premier League has no money of its own- it is simply a bank account which receives cash and doles it out; mostly to its 20 shareholders. SO OF COURSE ANY CASH FOR POMPEY IS COMING OUT OF ROVERS' AND THE OTHER 18 CLUBS' POCKETS!
FourLaneBlue Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Why would the Premiership lose 72million on helping Pompey philip? They only have to keep them going to the end of the season and then they are no longer their concern... I seriously doubt there needs to be 24million pound paid out monthly to get them to May...
Backroom Tom Posted February 9, 2010 Backroom Posted February 9, 2010 Burnley now 3-0 down, Bolton 2-0 down and Stoke have equalised
brfcshabba Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Stoke equalise. City double their lead. Burnley seem to be losing...
philipl Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Why would the Premiership lose 72million on helping Pompey philip? They only have to keep them going to the end of the season and then they are no longer their concern... I seriously doubt there needs to be 24million pound paid out monthly to get them to May... They have £60m of debt, all of it overdue. Directors have a legal duty to treat all creditors equitably which means if a cash fairy godmother comes along, creditors will suddenly all be extending their palms. You simply cannot, outside of administration/insolvency, easily manage a creditors' settlement for less than all of the money owing especially as Pompey have failed to honour any number of previous payment schedules so have zero credibility, HMRC are in Court with a winding up order and there is a creditor like Lens from overseas who doesn't give a fig for any niceties now. Pompey cannot legally pay off Lens or the HMRC because they are screaming and doing nasty things and then refuse to pay another creditor in full and not expect to find themselves facing legal sanctions and possibly a day in Court especially if Pompey still fail. So I cannot see how anyone can keep Pompey going to mid May without a huge amount of cash to buy peace with that £60m of overdue claims bearing down on whatever is left of the Pompey business. Chuck in about £12m for operating costs (wages are still £2m+ per month) to get them to the season end on 30 June when they hand back their share in the PL and that is where the £72m comes from.

SO OF COURSE ANY CASH FOR POMPEY IS COMING OUT OF ROVERS' AND THE OTHER 18 CLUBS' POCKETS! What do Rovers get money wise out of the PL? TV money - a pre-determined contractual amount, right? Prize money by league position - also pre-defined. Anything else? Are you saying that these amounts would decrease? That's the only way it can have an actual affect on us.
47er Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Adam Johnson looks a cracking player. Pen to City, 1-0. So does Wiltshire for Bolton.
Ben-2000 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 FT Wigan 1-1 Stoke Burnley.. oh dear! Time for a couple more Fulham EDIT - Pompey equalise!
brfcshabba Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Pompey equalise - Dindane what a guy Couldn't have gone much better for us tonight
Backroom Tom Posted February 9, 2010 Backroom Posted February 9, 2010 Woohoo Pompey got a draw late on, perfect
philipl Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Prize money and media moneys do change slightly each season within the three year media contracts dependent on the non-fixed elements of the PL's trading. Take £72m out and there is £72m less to spread about- simple as that. Back to football, Sunderland had 2 sent off and suffered an injury time equaliser at Fratton so Rovers stay 12th tonight.
alexanders Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Great results. Wigan - Stoke : Draw Fulham - Burnley: Burnley bashing Pompey - Sunderland : Draw + 2 red cards (1 for lee cattermole) Bolton losing.
CrazyIvan Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Great results for us tonight. Teams above beating teams below and those playing each other below all draw...
jim mk2 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 So does Wiltshire for Bolton. That lad Wilshere is quite good too. Perfect set of results for Rovers - can we take advantage tomorrow night ?
Ricky Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I was just saying to Katie that a Pompey equaliser would be perfect tonight. Couldn't have picked the results better.
Backroom DE. Posted February 9, 2010 Backroom Posted February 9, 2010 Great results for us. Decreases the pressure slightly on the team tomorrow... not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, mind. Bruce has some serious issues at Sunderland.
