gumboots Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Just seen the headline "Benitez tells players to stop pointing fingers". Didn't realise he'd bought Andrews

Hughesy Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Burnley took a useful draw against Stoke last night...and now with 10 games to go (for most) - the league should really start to get interesting! Currently there are 3 teams in for the title, 4 more fighting for 4th place, 5 clubs to fight out 'best of the rest' and then 8 clubs fighting to stay up... Table below - inc fixtures up until the end of March Looking at the table - I think 10th is the best we can realistically hope for with just 10 to play...unless we can get 3pts either on Saturday or next Sunday!
Blue n White Rover Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Dingles down 2-0 now, "Countdown King" scores an own goal! Bolton up 2-0, Davies from the Penalty spot. Judging from his previous performances, would people still dislike him coming our way?
tony gale's mic Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Bolton look like they will overtake us soon. Their next five games are Everton, Villa, Man U, Chelsea plus a trip to the Britannia.
mhead Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Looking at the bottom of the table..if Arsenal beat Hull tonight and we beat or draw with the Dingles then our 35 or 37 points will be more than enough to survive. We now need to relax a bit and play more of the good football like the first 30 minutes versus Spurs. We are a work in progress and will do much better away next season (with one or two new faces and the younger lads more experienced).April is the time to experiment a bit.
Guest Kamy100 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Arsenal 1-0 up at Hull. Bolton are catching us, we need to win our game in hand, it is very important that we finish above 13th (that is what we have budgeted for), so every position above that means that the manager has £700,000 extra to spend in the transfer market.
Exiled_Rover Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 It's laughable that we've budgeted for 13th with absolutely no investment.

Very difficult to see all except two of the clubs beneth us making up between two and ten points on us over nine to ten games now. Despite the two defeats and goal gifting, Rovers are not playing badly. Singles losing to Pompey and Wolves in successive home games look doomed though. Budgeting for 13th makes sense relative to the investment by the clubs around us.
Zulu Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Their next five games are Everton, Villa, Man U, Chelsea plus a trip to the Britannia. 15 points then!
philipl Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 We could do without Sunderland beating Citeh today.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Craig Gordon has pulled off some cracking saves to deny Citeh.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Wonderful goal by Johnson in injury time. Beautiful curl on the ball into the top corner.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Good for England that Beckham is out. Its a terrible thing to happen to him but he shouldnt have been on the plane anyway. Beckham added nothing to the squad and would have only prevented a younger, brighter prospect from getting into the team. Set piece delivery is not enough to warrant a place. Its sad in many ways, esp for him personally but for the national team its a blessing in disguise
tcj_jones Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Poor Bloke. I reckon going to the World Cup meant more to him than anybody, especially as it's his last opportunity. With Lennon an injury concern, Beckham would definitely have played an important role to play. Such a shame.

Or Spurs crock Aaron Lennon. Beckham may actually be a big loss come the summer.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 After his late goal today, I'm sure Adam Johnson wouldn't mind gate crashing the party.
tcj_jones Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I just don't think that Johnson is ready to play in a World Cup. Hopefully Capello will see sense and play Ashley Young, who deserves the RM spot over everybody else right now.
roversfan99 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Thats a good point, id rather take Adam Johnson, or even Ashley Young over Walcott and SWP. In my opinion Downing should be over Walcott and SWP aswell
Hughesy Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I thought we budgeted for 15th this season. 13th. With each place worth almost £800k a time, 10th would be a very good season! As for England - Milner on the right, Young on the left, 4-5-1 with Rooney on his own upfront.
