modes98 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 More on Stevie G story.... Common as muck that lot! Just to reply to an earlier post just be careful not to post the rumours on here. Not that I think Mr Gerrard is on t'internet looking for forums to sue but you never know.
broadsword Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Why? They wouldn't be Champions. There are already way to many teans in the Champions league now imo majiball. It's tedious and dull. Once you corrupt the integrity of a hallowed competition by altering the rules to suit the profit motive, anything goes! It's a nonsense. They may as well call it the Euro Cash League, the Gravy Train Cup. The Let's Give the Big Teams Every Chance to Stay in to Keep Attendances Up and Ensure Sponsors Are Happy Jamboree. 30 odd years ago, it was notts Forest beating Malmo to win it, you wouldn't get that now. Money's ruined it. It's pathetic and sad. There's no romance to football at all now. Maybe there's a glimmer with Portsmouth getting to the Final, but they actually don't deserve it I don't think. It's hardly a fairy tale, a bankrupt club managed by a dirty old git who goes to brothels. That's not exactly Hereford beating Newcastle is it?
broadsword Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 More on Stevie G story.... Come back John Terry, all if forgiven. I'll leave out the moral indignation bit, it's getting a bit tired now, isn't it? Not that I would ever get indignant over rumoured, unsubstantiated tittle-tattle.

BuckyRover Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Maybe so Bryan, but it is still tittle-tattle about a football managers sex life. Plus his wife is cool with it (I read an interview with her). Go Avram.
thenodrog Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Funny how the male of the species prefers to think that they have a strong sex drive but criticise anybody with one for using it. Whys that then?
broadsword Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I've not criticised him for using it, just intimated that visiting a brothel is a sleazy thing for a public figure to do. Good for him though, I hope he got his money's worth.
Amo Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Funny how the male of the species prefers to think that they have a strong sex drive but criticise anybody with one for using it. Whys that then? I think you mean the context of how they use it, Drog.
Backroom DE. Posted April 24, 2010 Backroom Posted April 24, 2010 Between Burnley and Hull I don't think I've ever seen two teams so desperate to get relegated. West ham are veryyy lucky that the three teams in the relegation zone are so poor. Though, Portsmouth spirit despite being relegated a while ago is admirable.
Hughesy Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Given looks in a bad way - carried off, on oxygen - Our ex young keeper on!
Amo Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Apparently Rafael Van Der Vaart has been offered to Liverpool. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/24042010/58/premier-league-paper-round-reds-want-vaart.html
DeadlyDirk Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Wonder what will be in the papers tomorrow about who he could potentially be replacing?
nicko Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 I've not criticised him for using it, just intimated that visiting a brothel is a sleazy thing for a public figure to do. Good for him though, I hope he got his money's worth. It would be the first thing Portsmouth paid for this season.
chocky Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 It would be the first thing Portsmouth paid for this season. Imagine if a whore sues Portsmouth for an unpaid bill...could it get any worse for them.??..
Backroom Tom Posted April 24, 2010 Backroom Posted April 24, 2010 Ian Dowie turned out to be an appalling appointment at Hull, Bullard was a bit of a waste of money as well. Stupid in the extreme by Altidore but if you are going to get sent off you may as well land a good blow and it was a good un to be fair.
Backroom DE. Posted April 24, 2010 Backroom Posted April 24, 2010 Hull were down regardless, Brown wouldn't have got them out of trouble and I can't think of anybody better than Dowie who would have wanted the job. Should've gone down last season really, got a stay of execution and deserve to go down this year.
chaddyrovers Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Hull should go for Nigel Atkins has manager. Ddone a excellent job scunthorpe united. Hull should regroup next season, get rid of players they don't want and build a squad that will push for promotion th season after.
Iceman Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Hull should have gone for O'Leary or Hoddle. Not sure what either are doing, but a better option than Dowie i think.
FourLaneBlue Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hull were down regardless, Brown wouldn't have got them out of trouble and I can't think of anybody better than Dowie who would have wanted the job. Should've gone down last season really, got a stay of execution and deserve to go down this year. Hull were not down regardless. They had a fighting chance. Under Dowie they gave up the fight. They may well still have gone down but sacking Brown and spending a load of money unnecessarily...just to bring in Dowie?!?
LeChuck Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Certainly was a baffling decision, I'm still not sure what made them think Dowie was the man for the job. I posted around that time that Burnley's and Hull's odd managerial appointments had taken the excitement out of the relegation battle, and that's turned out to be the case. Both would have had a fighting chance had they employed better managers. I must hold my hands up and say I slightly favoured Dowie over Hughes back when he was appointed...I'm glad nobody at Rovers shared my view!

Leave Scunthorpe alone - why should they lose their manager to Hull?
ffan Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Anyone heard anything about Hughes taking over at Newcastle or is it bull?
Amo Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Been some talk that Hull might even reinstate Phil Brown, since he's on "garden leave". Highly doubtful.
