I find it strange when some have suggested we should be doing better with the players we have. As stated above, a way of looking at it could be how many other Premier League clubs will be in for our players this summer? Samba/Robinson possibly - some of our young players still have a way to go, but may court some interest (depending on their progress/improvement).

IMO, our midfield/strikers are fairly average. Can't keep looking back but in recent years there was no doubting the quality of Bentley/Bellamy however we don't have anyone near that class. Dunn, on his day and when fit, comes close.

Also, some crave and threaten to go on suicide watch if we don't play more attacking or 4-4-2. Our set of players generally lack creativity and we seem to struggle to pass/keep hold of the football. Granted, the manager will always favour a direct game but these are prerequisites if you want to play a more 'attacking' game.

Maybe I am being too harsh, however, a reality check is needed sometimes.

If the players are ordinary then the manager must be in great demand.

I'm sure thats not far off. West Ham went a bit mental, paying a very injury prone Dyer the same is enough to make you want to shoot yourself. Gabbidon was highly rated but £50k is way to high, imagine what Anton Ferdinand was on. Then there is poor old Mido on £52k a year, how does he survive on such a low sum.

I am sure some are not far off but I seriously doubt Gabbidon, Disamanti's and Boa Morte's contracts are right.

Can I ask where that's from? Because I seriously doubt its accuracy.

There is absolutely no way, in a million years, that Boa Morte is on £70k.

Why? Lucas Neill famously was at that time. It's why he rejected Liverpool. The eggman was chucking money around like a madman. There's a few left too, if my memory serves me correctly I'd wager the likes of Bellamy, Llundberg, Bowyer and Ashton would have been on similar too. It's why they are in the sh1t now. To quote the bible ..... As ye sow so shall ye reap. Oh well how sad, never mind. :tu:

I remember Ljunberg was offered about 3m to tear up his contract to save them a few quid which he accepted, so he must have been on more than 3m to start with so yep another who must have been on 70k+ per week. I think the figures above are pretty accurate.

Anyway enough of West Ham, anyone got any preference on tonight's game? I can't stand Spuds or Citeh and don't really care who wins, I've persuaded myself to slightly favour Spuds as I think if Citeh get into the Champions League they'll be hard to stop over the next few years with their finances, the main thing working against them signing the top players right now is the fact that they are not in the Champions League, let's keep it that way.

Hopefully Spuds can go out in the qualifiers :D

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Harry Redknapp's attack on Man. City for "bullying" them out of Craig Bellamy. Honest 'Arry is hardly one for preaching business ethics, now is he? :D

I know it was briefly mentioned but I don't know why the FA let City bring in another goalkeeper, they had one already and should have had to give a youth player the chance on the bench.

If they decided that they had to let them bring one in then it should only have been to sit on the bench while Nielsen plays. I think it's very unfair that they allow them to bring in a new first choice keeper at this stage of the season. Nobody forced them to loan out Hart, it's their own fault.

Why couldn't we bring in a new forward on loan when we had to stick Samba up there due to injuries? (Although he did end up being picked ahead of Benni :P)

If they literally had no goalkeeper it would be a different story but that's not the case, Nielsen although unproven is their 3rd choice goalkeeper and also an international, that's what squads are for. No reason why a youth player couldn't deputise on the bench, plenty of other teams including ourselves have had to include players from the U18's on the bench this year, Pompey even had them starting :)

I totally agree with this point. Surely the whole point of City getting another keeper was due to them not having enough cover. I think whoever gave City the go ahead for the emergency have bottled it due to City pushing for a Champions League place.

Stoke 1-0 up at Fulham. Best result for us I think if it stays that way. Hopefully with defeats for Fulham at Arsenal and Stoke at Man U on Sun that would likely see a 'gettable' draw at Villa leave us in 10th place.

You have to give Spurs due credit, they deserve the 4th slot in the Champs League, City just join the list of has beens !!!

£350m for a 5th placed spot ? Hardly money well spent is it?

Did Bellamy wave goodbye and seal his move to Spurs with the high five with Harry ?

The look on the City owners face - PRICELESS or £350m

Ledley King is proving tonight that he's probably the best English defender. Fabio get him on that plane!

He can't play more than one game a week though, I don't see how he can go. A shame because he is brilliant. Dawson makes a good alternative though, he's very good.

Pleased that Tottenham are going into the Champions League next year. They're got an English manager, lots of British players (5 of the starting front 6 were English, 7 out of 11 in total) and haven't got a sugar daddy like City, although I appreciate they've had significant investment.

Still can't say I like them at all, but they're relatively likeable compared to the other 'big' clubs.

They'll probably be knocked out in the qualifiers though. Especially because the qualifiers have been made very hard.

They can still finish third yet, they have Burnley left and Arsenal are on a terrible run.

Just had a look at the table and fixtures, looks very promising.

Contradicting what I just said above here, but I think a point will be adequate to finish tenth.
