hahahhaha oh Santa where did you go?

From top scorer at Ewood and a regular starter, to the big-money reserve squad of a team that should qauliy as the biggest failures in the history of the Premiership. Add to the fact that he's out of form now and has hampened Paraguqay's World Cup aspirations.

Complete and utter disgrace, Santa. And you deserve it for your "great aspirations".

Stoke 1-0 up at Fulham. Best result for us I think if it stays that way. Hopefully with defeats for Fulham at Arsenal and Stoke at Man U on Sun that would likely see a 'gettable' draw at Villa leave us in 10th place.

Was just going to say that, it's hard to see Fulham getting anything at the Emirates or Stoke getting anything at Old Trafford so 1 point at Villa Park would see us in 10th. It would be a great end to a good season, come on boys, 1 little point!!

I'm mildly happy that Spuds won, don't like them but at least it stops Citeh having money+CL football to throw at any old sod all summer.

I would rather Spurs one than City, purely for the Gary Cook factor. Seeing his smug face twisted in the realisation they'll be playing on Channel 5 again next year was fantastic. Fair play to Spurs, have no love for their fans or 'Arry, but they deserve 4th and have a very good team.

A nice 6-0 defeat for Stoke would help us !

I just have to agree with Mr E and his summing up of RSC's "dream move" to the massive club that is MCFC, I wonder if he now realises that its a circus at that club.

Yet again, the curse of Rovers strikes on a player who shat on the hand that fed them.

I cant wait to see what happens now because the hoped for signing of Torres and co has just gone down the swanney with that defeat.

Is it that or is it confirmation that the Gypsy curse is actually on the club and not the ground!

Lets hope the wrath of the Sheiks falls squarely on Gary Cook. The man whose meddling and lack of support ruined a bloody good manager. :rover:

No love for City but as a Lancashire club I would rather it were they than the Cockney shysters in the CL. City were poor tonight - Mancini won't be there next season.

Ledley King is proving tonight that he's probably the best English defender. Fabio get him on that plane!

No thanks - last week he was done by abit of pace...and he cant play more than 1 game every 7-10 days. Dawson would be better!

It would be a great end to a good season, come on boys, 1 little point!!

1 MASSIVE point!!! Lets hope Warnock & Brad can do us a favour!

Dont like Spurs or City - but its great to see the £300m team fail - although saying that Spurs have spent their fair share too!

He can't play more than one game a week though, I don't see how he can go. A shame because he is brilliant.

On Sky Sports they said he played 3 games in 10 days and more games than Rio this season. If he went to the World Cup then the only way for him to get through games would be to do whatever he does in training at Spurs (i.e. in the gym or doing feck all) and do the exact same in Saaaaaaf Africa and maybe take a few of the Spurs doctors/coaches out with him.

He's too slow - teams like Argentina, Spain etc will murder him and focus on him as a weak link

I'm not at all keen on 'Arry or Spurs either but you have to concede they have built up a very useful squad indeed.

really it was a case of laugh at whichever one didn't win and keep your fingers crossed that whoever got 4th also gets an awful draw in the qualifiers and crashes straight out. I'd marginally rather Spurs got 4th just because they have built that squad over a few seasons now unlike the charmless City who have come from nowhere and, with CL football to offer any new signings, would have been even more obnoxious than they are already. However, I will be rooting for whoever Spurs draw.

Motherwell v Hibs was an incredible game, got bored of watching Citeh v Spuds and glad I did, 6-6 with Hibs being 6-2 in the lead, Well equalised in last minute of injury time and missed a penalty at 5-6.

Lukas Jutkiewicz's goal against Hibs was superb and a goal of the season candidate.

I know it was briefly mentioned but I don't know why the FA let City bring in another goalkeeper, they had one already and should have had to give a youth player the chance on the bench.

Why couldn't we bring in a new forward on loan when we had to stick Samba up there due to injuries? (Although he did end up being picked ahead of Benni :P)

Nielsen is not a first team keeper and they had no other option. Taylor is injured, Given is injured and Hart is on loan. What would be unfair is to allow other teams to bring in a replacement and then not allow Citeh. Fair decision for me.

Because that isn't what the rules state. The rules state that in a specialist position as a goalkeeper a team may be allowed to bring in a emergency loan signing in the case that they only have 1 fit player in that position.

It was their choice to let Hart leave on loan though, nobody forced them into doing it, especially without including a recall option. My guess is because Citeh insisted on a fee as part of their loan.

We had a similiar case with Robbo injured a month or so back and simply recalled Bunn as cover, they could have done the same if they'd had the sense to include a recall option.

It's not just Citeh though, I don't think any clubs should be able to bring players in after the deadline, goalkeeper or not, especially not as first choice. It would have to be an extreme circumstance to allow it in my opinion, Nielsen is an international goalkeeper and is in his 20's now, which to me doesn't class as an extreme circumstance. If he's not good enough then again nobody forced them to buy him. He doesn't have a lot of first team experience but the only way he'll get it is if they actually play him.

That's not fair though. If you loan a keeper out with ample back-up at the club you shouldn't be punished for injuries that happen 8/9 months later. You wouldn't think it was unfair if it happened to Rovers, so you have to be fair to City.

The difference is that Ferdinand has had a particular injury problem whereas King is simply constantly injured. There's no point taking a back-up to the world cup who could realistically be unfit when called upon. He isn't going to get into the starting line-up at this point, so take a player who doesn't have such a horrible injury record...it's not as if we are short of options at centre back.

Life isn't fair! No to be honest I agree that they were unlucky to get the injuries so late on but I still feel that they should only have been allowed to bring someone in as backup. A club with the resources like Citeh or any other Premiership club should have 3 goalkeepers capable of playing Premiership football.

However because I don't like backing down :), here's an interesting article from earlier in the season. Doesn't look like the Football League have the same rules as the Premiership....

The Football League have confirmed Ipswich will not be granted special dispensation to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal.

The Blues had enquired about the possibility of signing someone before January following the news that goalkeeper Richard Wright will be sidelined for up to four months with a knee injury.

However, Ipswich were informed that they did not fit the criteria as they already have two fully fit goalkeepers on their books in Arran Lee-Barrett and 18-year-old Ian McLoughlin, who has yet to play a senior game.

According to Sky, King has played more League games this season than Rio Ferdinand, Spurs celebrating but if they do finish fourth then they have to play a two leg qualifier to get into the group stage.

And teams have fell at the first hurdle in the past so while Sky are shouting that Spurs could be playing Barca and Real Madrid, think that is quite a while off yet.

Ok Spurs are at the Dingles on Sunday, but Arsenal play Fulham at the Emirates and Fulham do have a Euro final coming up so I can't see a full strengh side being put out there.
