Everybody has a price.

It's all well and good saying he's already on 100k, another 100k wouldn't make a difference, to most people it would and you'll struggle to find many footballers who won't move to a different club based on money. I can only think of Kaka in recent memory as someone who turned down a significant payrise. Terry could be another but if he is then he is one of very few.

I'm not sure you can class going to Citeh as a step back too much though apart from the lack of champions league football. Chelsea have been in a managerial roundabout for a while, they don't seem to be spending the big bucks like they used too and they have an ageing squad, while City have to the surprise of everyone brought stability with the manager, have plenty of money to spend and are hungry to move forwards.

Terry would undoubtedly be given the captaincy and get to lead a revolution again, I'm sure he'd at least be interested.

Fulham were in talks to sign Pawel Brozek last night as they attempt to strengthen their squad for their Europa League campaign this season. The forward, who has been valued at about £3.5 million, helped Wisla Krakow to the Polish title in each of the past two seasons, scoring a total of 42 goals in the process.

Brede Hangeland has turned down Fulham’s offer of a new contract worth twice his present salary of £15,000 a week. The Norway defender, 27, who has two years left on his contract, has been the subject of interest from several clubs this summer, although none has yet made an offer.

Think there would be other clubs happy to pay him 4 times his current wage and some more!!

In other words, he's going to Arsenal.

Am I alone in thinking Terry isn't actually all that special?

No, you are not alone.

Maybe Chelsea want rid because Carvalho is leaving and they realise Terry isn't good enough to lead the back by himself.

I hope Terry does go to Man City a take Lampard as well, then they both can get shown up for the frauds they are.

according to this article Obertan the French under 21 player ( mentioned by Eddie as a possible target for us a few weeks ago) is going to Man utd. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2009/...an-vers-mu.html L'equipe reckon the deal has been done for 2 weeks now and could be finalised today. they say he's talented but since he couldn't get in Bordeaux team or even into the first team at Lorient (who finished mid table) as a regular starter, it would be one of the most surprising tranfers of the window. He's talented but is only 20 and would come in as understudy to Valencia.

Looks like Chelsea put their foot down this morning and Terry did not follow through with a transfer request. Ergo he stays and City still have a shed load of cash for defenders burning holes in their pockets. Could be dangerous for Rovers.

Meantime Chelski have signed Russian left back Zhirkov. Whither Cashley?

Except that the 4th tier isn't actually a 4th tier. It's more of an amateur developmental league for university players in the summer. Most good American players have played there at least one season. Burnley beat the USL (second and third tier) sides that they faced in their tour last year but lost 2-1 to the "fourth-tier" side that they played. That said, this particular player was given multiple chances to prove himself with MLS clubs earlier in the winter and did not even impress my local San Jose Earthquakes who were the worst team last year so a lot of people over here are wondering how he will fare at Everton.

Also, interesting to see the City fans on SSN saying that "money talks" these days. Is Kaka a distant memory?

imo It's likely that he would have come to City in Jan but the whole deal was scuppered by a call from Real Madrid. ;)
