ffan Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Apparently Ireland is joining Villa as part of Milner going there, i've heard that from a few people now, no idea if it's true or not. You've got a cracking deal there. Shame that O'Neill is still managing you mind. Just one of his many many costly mistakes was letting Gary Cahill go and buying Curtis Davies or Zat Knight, can't remember which, as his replacement.

Tom 1 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Cahill wasn't needed to be fair. He never played and whilst it's alright looking at it in retrospect, does anyone think he'd have become the player he is now if he'd stayed? I still think Curtis Davies is quite a bit better, he's just unfortunately made of glass, Cahill always a legend for the overhead kick vs Birmingham though. As for MON, all my criticism will now go to one side, if he signs Ireland and then a couple more quality players to address the creative players then I will feel much happier with him. Either way, he ain't going anywhere so it's his way or the highway. I'll take his way!

Grabbi Graeme Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 SSN confirming that Martin O Neil has left Villa. seems a strange time to leave, a few days before the season starts.
koi Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 This has just been on 5 live. I think Nicko might have been hinting that something was afoot yesterday.
Tom 1 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I guessed it in a pm to Nicko just before it happened. Good effort MON, but ###### happens. Let's see who the new guy is.
koi Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Sam for villa I'm thinking the same. Though, Villa are a trading club so how much difference would there ultimately be?
rovers1995 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Can't see Villa wanting Sam. The fans wouldn't accept him
Mr. E Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 If MON has truly left because he can't handle the fact that his best players are leaving or are wanted from other clubs, then I don't know...he needs a slap in the face. In one season he took our player of the year (Warnock) and player of the decade (Friedel) for peanuts, and now he's complaining? Idiot.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I bet Hughesy wished he waited an extra week now
ffan Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 If only Hughes had held on for one more week eh? Villas season is well and truly stuffed it seems.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I've got a sneaky feeling that Glenn Hoddle will make a return at the new manager.
chaddyrovers Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Hope not! We need to keep Big Sam at Rovers AT ALL COST!!!!
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I've got a sneaky feeling that Glenn Hoddle will make a return at the new manager. I think Hoddle is too busy with his coaching schools to go back into management
modes98 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Mon swap for zzzzzam What good would that do us? We can't afford to buy overrated and overvalued english players and that is MoN's main tactic in the transfer market. Sam is the best manager for our situation.
chaddyrovers Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I've got a sneaky feeling that Glenn Hoddle will make a return at the new manager. I agree with that. Were the not rumours a couple on months ago about Bilic being linked with Villa!!
Stuart Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 What good would that do us? We can't afford to buy overrated and overvalued english players and that is MoN's main tactic in the transfer market. Sam is the best manager for our situation. Plus when you see the potential candidates Villa will have over the coming days/weeks... And they have money!
