den
SPL sign broadcast deal for £65m per year... and Rantic Celgers are a bit miffed about it. Could be argued that they should be the last one's to be miffed, because they will see the lions share of the cash. It could also be argued that their domination of the league actually devalues the sale value, could it not?
Doaksie
It could also be argued that their domination of the league actually devalues the sale value, could it not? What, unlike in England you mean, where the title race is wide open every year?? Premier League champions 1992–93 Manchester United 1993–94 Manchester United 1994–95 Blackburn Rovers 1995–96 Manchester United 1996–97 Manchester United 1997–98 Arsenal 1998–99 Manchester United 1999–2000 Manchester United 2000–01 Manchester United 2001–02 Arsenal 2002–03 Manchester United 2003–04 Arsenal 2004–05 Chelsea 2005–06 Chelsea 2006–07 Manchester United 2007–08 Manchester United 2008–09 Manchester United
FourLaneBlue
What, unlike in England you mean where the title race is wide open every year?? Hardly a wide open league but in the last 6 seasons there have been 3 different winners. You have to go back about 25 seasons in Scotland for that. den
What, unlike in England you mean, where the title race is wide open every year?? Outside Rangers and Celtic, there are virtually no games, to the TV companies, worth screening. That's not the case in England is it?
Doaksie
Outside Rangers and Celtic, there are virtually no games, to the TV companies, worth screening. That's not the case in England is it? Agree 100%. I was disagreeing more with the point that having certain teams (i.e. the top 4 in England, and the Old Firm in Scotland) dominating the league, would be detrimental to the sale value of the product. Not that I'm trying to claim the EPL has no 're-sale value' - wouldn't want to start that old one again!!
philipl
After RFW said no more transfers, Redknap copies him and plays it ultra cool So no McCarthy (not our's) or Negredo to Spurs and no great merry-go-round of ins and outs. The market is even too 'ot for 'arry. If he is to be believed..
John
City fuming over Adebayor twist after Arsenal striker flirts with Chelsea move Although club sources dismissed speculation that City boss Mark Hughes will switch his sights from Lescott to Nemanja Vidic and try to follow up his capture of former United striker Carlos Tevez with a daring bid in the region of £30m for Sir Alex Ferguson's defensive linchpin Liverpool will intensify their efforts to sign David Silva, the Valencia playmaker, with Xabi Alonso expected to complete a £32 million move to Real Madrid next week. T4E
It could also be argued that their domination of the league actually devalues the sale value, could it not? Are you suggesting that the Old Firm are to blame? What do you propose they do, throw games to keep it competitive?
tcj_jones
Sorry, but I'll ###### myself if Chelsea go for Adebayor. He'll either got to City, stay at Arsenal or wait for Milan to come in - and I doubt they will.
benhben
Not PL but have a look at this..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8155593.stm Are they MAD? Inter will be laughing. £35m plus Etoo for Ibrahimovic. Id rather have Eto'o over Ibra any day, never mind plus £35m. Ive never seen Ibrahimovic have a good game, bit like Berbatov. Dont rate him at all.
Billy Castell
For all his supposed skill, Zlatan hasn't done anything to catch my eye. To me he seems to be a one time wonderkid who believed his own hype too much. What has he done to justify this reputation? I'd rather have Rooney, Eto'o, or Shearer circa 1994 any day over Ibrahimovic.
philipl
Saw Ibrahimovic score 4 goals in the opening 12 minutes of Malta v Sweden in the Qualifiers for last World Cup which was pretty spectacular. Not worth Etoo + £35m +Hleib on a season loan though- Barca have been done rotten on that one! OK my maxim that swaps never happen these days has been dented but one side has been spectacularly dumb here. Inter are off to spend the £35m on David Villa now by the way. Three twists in the EPL: City are apparently paying Forlan to buy out his Atletico Madrid contract with increasing signs that Adebayor is not going there and Chelsea his likely destination. Kyle Naughton did not turn up for his Spurs medical yesterday with Everton apparently willing to pay £5m for him. This could be very bad news for Rovers unless Spurs reverse their decision to loan Walker back to Sheff U. Gunter has gone from Spurs to Forest for £1.75m. Villa closing in on Delph for £6m and Distin for £3m. The Pompey sale continues....
philipl
Looking increasingly likely that Real Madrid will land Alonso from Liverpool next week. Wesley Snejder might come the other way but Liverpool are targeting David Silva from Valencia who I think is a fantastic player. With Villa and Silva likely to move, will Zigic still be superfluous at Valencia?

Isn't it better for Barca to get a replacement for Eto'o now than trying to find one when he leaves for free next year? It was pretty clear that he wasn't going to stick around, so they probably did the best thing they could although going for Villa themselves would be a good option. Hughesy
ssn - 18.20 Arsene Wenger has no current plans to replace Emmanuel Adebayor after agreeing to sell the Arsenal striker to Manchester City. The Frenchman, though, admitted he is keeping tabs on Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
