Any ideas how long Bellamy is out for??!

"Manchester City's former Celtic striker Craig Bellamy has blamed Rangers' Lee McCulloch for a foot injury he picked up in Wednesday's friendly defeat at Ibrox. (Various)"

Talking about Bellamy, who'd have him back? Any thoughts? He's got to be way down the pecking order now....

I would, but I think he would be too expensive, too big wages and probably abit too big headed to come back.

Valid points Hughsey, I was hoping he may have come to his senses a little and maybe realises that his future could possibly lie at a club like ours. His attitude could be the stumbling block...

Like Bentley I doubt he would really have the desire to play for us like he did the first time round. His career is winding down and he has serious injury problems, on top of ego issues.

Stay well away I think.

Niemi has just signed for pompey as 'cover' when they already have James and Ashdown

Looks like James will be off to sunderland then..

I think thats a good bit of business for Pompy if they ship James out for a couple of million. Niemi is an excellent keeper as far as I am concerned and James is over rated - mostly from Arry blowing his trumpet all the time.

Are you sure? Niemi retired because of a wrist injury! (It *might* affect his goalkeeping). He's also not played football for a year since he was retired.

It's world cup year and competition for the goalkeeping spot in the England team is hotting up - Our Paul Robinson, Rob Green, Kirkland and Ben Foster just to name some - you can bet James will be playing out of his skin to try get to realistically his last world cup before he calls it quits (at international level).

If Portsmouth sell James, they are doomed (if they weren't already).

Obviously if Niemi is fit then he will be fine - even a year without playing. I think if Foster has a good couple of weeks with Van Der Sar being out then he will get the no1 spot. Our fella might sneak into second.

I would leave James at home to watch it on TV

These are my own thoughts though obviously and I am sure many will disagree

Just a note on Bassong - Spurs short on central defenders for the first game at Liverpool, so they sign Bassong who is suspended for the first two games of the season.

 id seen that too. Only Spurs or Newcastle could make a signing like that!

Cocker id agree - James just makes too many 'crazy' decisions which seem to always cost a vital goal. Current England No.1 should be Robbo, followed by Green, but I can see Foster sneaking in too especially if he performs aswell as he can whilst Van Der Sar is out.....

SPL query.

Do any of the watchers of French football know much about Celtic's new loan signing Landry N'Guemo, from Nancy? I saw brief highlights of his performance against Dinamo Moscow and thought that he was a very good player. It made me wonder if we went for the wrong N'somebody French-based midfielder... I guess, however, that N'Guemo will be a lot more expensive, being an established topflight footballer.

N'Guemo is a pretty decent player. He covers defensively well and is fairly tidy on the ball. I'm sure he'll do well in Scotland, but might have been found out in the Premier League. Still young though, but he's certainly not a sure thing for any club.

Maybe they signed Niemi as backup and will give Ashdown the chance to prove the promise he showed a few years back?

From snooping on the Pompey local paper website - the public noises are that James will stay (he's said as much himself), the young third choice is off out on loan and it looks like Ashdown will move on. Niemi to sit on the bench in the unlikely event they need a sub keeper - James's record for fitness is up there with Friedel's.

Would you go to Hull? Its a rate dive!

:glare:

We've had this conversation on here before, and most agreed it's not!

Most who have an opinion on the city only do so because of the media's lies about the place. If it wasn't for the media talking s#!te, Hull would probably be dubbed the industrial York - have a walk around Hull's old town and you'll see why.

There are plenty of teams in the Prem located at places which are a lot worse than Hull!

Wolverhampton, Stoke, Burnley, even Blackburn isn't anything to shout about. Liverpool is far from a Mecca, various parts of London where some teams are situated are dumbs, Wigan has nothing about it, what about that glorious place Sunderland? and Bolton is just delightful!

Nicko told me the reason/s nobody is moving to Hull is because A; Players are weary of the way Brown handled the team to just 1 win in 21 games at the end of last season and B; Because those that do hold talks with the club know just how much Bullard is on and they believe they're entitled to the same, so demand it and the club aren't prepared to do it, as Bullard's wage was a one off as like a marque signing to show other people the club ambition - instead it's had the opposite effect.

I also think its got something to do with the fact that they are staring relegation in the face even before a ball is kicked.

its the same old story, no-one appears to want to play for them !

It seems other teams are struggling to sign players too though. It is only highlighted more that Hull have missed out on a target because Phil Brown loves the limelight and announces bids when they've been tabled, rather than waiting until the deal is done like most managers - Beye deal is a perfect example. I bet just as many players have turned down Stoke this summer, but Pulis doesn't come out and say he was trying to sign the player before they've turned him down.

The point I am making, or trying to make, is that Hull would appear to have agreed fees with clubs for players, examples being Beye and Zamora. After talks between club and players there seems to be issues that have resulted in players turning them down.

Is this down to Brown or the persons conducting the transfer negotiations between players/agents ?

Whatever it is it is not reflecting the club in a good light.
