While the money is obviously a big pull for players joining City, I reckon that, for the likes of Lescott, it isn't the only pull. He will never compete in the Champions League or at the top end of the table at Everton, and this is his chance to make the big time.

EDIT: Apparently it is indeed, only made 20 apps for Watford so far in his career according to Wikipedia... Portsmouth planning for the Championship already!?

That's a fantastic deal for Stoke. Not only will they avoid a relegation scrap this season, I can actually see them competing for a place in the top ten.

Sometimes things like this backfire - a tightknit team of similar quality/paid players can be disrupted by the addition of one or more better paid, higher quality players. Of course it could be a masterstroke too B)
