American Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Who was the guy from Chelsea who turned down a loan offer to Burnley at the last minute because a club closer to London came through with an offer?

nicko Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Do you personally think this is a better signing in terms of potential than Villanueva was...? (Surely not.) Yes, for reasons that will become obvious. Villanueva undoubtedly had talent, but [a] he was a bit small and he didn't do enough when he had chances to impress to change the tactical approach of the side in the second half of the season. Who was the guy from Chelsea who turned down a loan offer to Burnley at the last minute because a club closer to London came through with an offer? Good memory...but that was Scott Sinclair. And it's not him.
imy9 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Ben Sahar? Chelsea player but on loan for the last season and has scored in the Dutch league. Played 3 games in the Pl but never scored. 19 years old and lots of potential a player with lots of pace.
rovers1995 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Has anybody mentioned Julio Baptista. Real Madrid are probably interested in letting him go but it depends if they could get another striker in. David Villa maybe? Also, i can't remember if he scored in the premierleague for Arsenal or just in the cups. Probably completely wrong though?
bob fleming Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I'm stumped. Toni Basil? Toni Braxton? Toni Gubba? Mr X and Mr Y = Toni and Guy? What about Jose Sanfilippo? Wolfgang Overath? Just Fontaine perhaps?

frosty Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Has anybody mentioned Julio Baptista. Real Madrid are probably interested in letting him go but it depends if they could get another striker in. He signed for Roma this time LAST year
USA Rover Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 ooops Has anyone mentioned Niang from Marseille or Kone for that matter? It seems like we're linked with all of their players.
S15 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Sorry I feel like I'm missing out.. Is it Luca Toni? Actually we've been here before, it's Robbie Fowler isn't it.
TheNews Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Nicko Would I be right in thinking Mr X is currently plying his trade in the PL and the delay in naming him is down to the fact that his current club are in negotiation for his replacement (Upgrade) and the deal is all hush hush as if his name were to get out a number of others may well be in for him? Also I believe if I am right this players name has very recently been in the press linking him to another Northern PL club.
patrickvalery Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Its Mikael Forsell deffinatley!!! Callum, i hope you're wrong. Same type of player he once was (ie, plays off the shoulder of the last man, explosive pace and accelaration etc...) would do me just fine. Just hope its not him.
callumrovers Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I wouldn't mind it being Mikael Forsell Just hope he isnt past his sell by date!
Kelbo Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I wouldn't mind it being Mikael Forsell Just hope he isnt past his sell by date! But hasnt he scored in the premiership??
ben_the_beast Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I know who it is. Fella called Acul Inot playing in the German leagues
Italian Rover Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I know who it isn't. Luca Toni. He'll be back at Fiorentina more than likely.
imy9 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I think people are guessing wrongly here, I sense it will be a young PL striker who has not played here but has been on loan abroad, we will find out tonight but I have a strong feeling that it is Ben Sahar of Chelsea on loan perhaps.
gumboots Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Mamadou Niang André-Pierre Gignac ?? Would suspect both of those might be headed for bigger clubs if they became available. Oddly enough, when Gignac played a few yers ago for Lorient, my daughter suggested he'd do for Rovers.
Sparky Marky Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I reckon its that kid from Chelsea...the big chap....Franco Di Santo....could be a great loan signing for Rovers....
