Commondore Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 The Under 21 Euros are in full spring, with England starting rather poorly with a hard fought 2-1 victory against Finland in a match were Michael Mancienne received a straight red card. Favorites Spain, Italy, Serbia and Germany only managed 1 point each from their opening matches while Sweden cruised to a 5-1 victory over Belarus with guessed Mr. X Marcus Berg bagging three... Now chat away on the rest of the tournament!

Majiball Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Well todays the game: SPAIN V ENGLAND U21'S, great chnace to see how the best of english youth compare to their spainish couter-parts. 19.45 tonight.
Commondore Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 Even with England comfortably beating a lacklustre Spanish side (with Bojan Krkic substituted early in the second half after a very bad game, maybe he isn't up to the hype after all?) there doesn't seem to be to much interest around here for this tournament! Anyway, Sweden had a good game against Italy but were edged out by the skilled and battle-hardened Italians who despite a red card on Mario Balotelli in the first half held on to a 2-1 win. Aquafresca (who seems to be interested in joining Fulham on loan, compare that to Di Santo or Davies...) scored one, with Sweden's and PSV's impressive striker Ola Toivonen bagging for Sweden. Martin Olsson played the last 20 minutes on the left wing when Sweden had to get a goal, and he might start either there or at left back in the group's last game where Sweden has to take at least one point against Serbia to go trough.
Majiball Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Olsson speaks about walcott Should be a good game hopefully see how Olsson's coming on.
67splitscreen Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Olsson speaks about walcott Should be a good game hopefully see how Olsson's coming on. Brave words, as long as your on the bench, so he doesn't make an arse of you.
cn174 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Well England are winning already. Martin Ollson is playing for Sweden on the left wing I think
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 2-0 so far. Olsson hasn't done much apart from a dodgy cross and err....that's it! Excellent performance from England so far. Agbonlahor misses the final though after picking up a yellow card.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 3-0 now and it's not even half time. Final on Monday.
cn174 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 England having a bit of a wobble 3-2 it is now. Excellent free kick by Toivonen
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Certainly a team full of future England players. They're already showing that they can bottle it in major matches.
Stuart Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I'll have that Swedish right winger please. Didn't we make a similar judgement when we brought in Rigters a couple of years ago...?
alexanders Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I'll have that Swedish right winger please. Guillermo Mulins This is the one you are looking for I think THis one is for the future: Robin Söder
T4E Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Marcus Berg's potential transfer fee has just trebled. What a game. Frazier Campbell sent off. Not a good tackle, nothing malicious but deserving of a second yellow.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 If this goes to penalties then that's a guaranteed penalty taker who won't be on the pitch. Latest: Sweden's Berg just hit the bar. If there is one more goal in this game, it seems like it's only going to be one side who will get it. We are hanging on for our lives after leading 3-0.
Exiled_Rover Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I didn't see the second yellow card, but Campbell didn't deserve his first - well not unless he's meant to disappear. It really is becoming a pansy sport. Ha, ha, highlighted by Joe Hart getting booked for sledging the Swedish penalty takers. This sport is dying on it's arse.
1864roverite Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Just served to prove that Pearce is tactically inept. Good game and the penalty hoodoo buried.
Presty On Tour Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 What did Hart get booked for? Sledging the Swedish player. Very, very harsh imo. Great game though, Sweden have a few stars in their under 21 side. Maybe Berg's value has dropped after his penalty miss although Milner wouldn't want to see his again.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 What the hell is sledging!?!?! Did he use a wooden one or a plastic one from the offie.
Stuart Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 What the hell is sledging!?!?! Did he use a wooden one or a plastic one from the offie. Giving your opponent verbal abuse in order to put him off. It's rife in cricket. Very finicky (sp?) ref tonight. Campbell, Agbonlahor and Hart all miss the final through suspension. We only have Walcott as a centre-forward and it's not even his position. And he's been dropped from most games in this tournament!
Presty On Tour Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 They used to do sledging in cricket but that's seemed to have stopped in recent years mainly due to them having the microphones by the wickets. Sledging is talking trash and trying to put the opposition player off by doing anything bar physical contact. Unfortunately for Hart, he received his 2nd yellow card of the tournament and now misses the final along with Campbell and Aggy.
