For all Junior's faults, he's a young player and an exciting prospect. With more game time in the Premiership his decision making should improve. I'd have him in the squad over MGP at the moment.

We shouldn't bend over backwards to sign the lad, but efforts should be made to entice him to stay, even if it's just an extra year contract extension.

Went to Columbus Crew for a bit, then came back and played non league. Pretty sure he's a football agent now.

He played for Pittsburgh in the U.S too. He had spells with Sheff Utd, Leicester & Villa in to early '90s. He also had a spell in Italy.

Anyway, just so I don;t get told off for going off topic, I think we're onto a good one with Junior. Yes he made a couple of mistakes on Wednesday but hopefully that will help make him into a better player. How Benni could be so harsh on him after some of his own displays is beyond me.

Lets hope we get him signed up for a new deal and he steps up a level or two in the next couple of seasons.

Simple choice really. If he stays, he will come good, of that I'm sure. It would be the right thing for him to do. If he goes to some sausage-fingering German backwater, he'll disappear, I'm sure of that too.

I think that tomorrow will be an interesting day. If he plays, I believe that he may yet stay. If he doesn't, I reckon' he's off.

I don't think we've seen a young prospect to get excited about since the Jansen, Duff, Dunn days, but I'm pretty sure our days of watching Hoilett will soon be over... a shame, but it seems Rovers have done their best to convince him to stay. It's just the way that German clubs were apparently circling in the summer in anticipation to Junior's work permit hearing (which they assumed would be rejected) that makes me think his destination has been determined for a while and that winning the work permit appeal was merely a speedbump in his process of signing for the likes of Hamburg.

Can German clubs out gun us on player remuneration? I would have thought we could easily compete on that front.

Assuming he's dead set on going, is it likely that we could sell him, even if only cheaply, in January? If he's truly gone, I'd like to get something of value out of him, if possible.

I can appreciate the "if you're not with us your against us" argument but I've a different take on this. If he is under contract until Summer 2010, then wouldn't it be better to keep him until then and have him make a difference on the playing side?

I'd assume he's on a basic contract or less, so in comparison to 6 months worth of wages (for another prospect, like Di Santo), it would probably be better him going on a free after contributing a half season.

Admittedly if we get £2 million for him in January, then we snap someone's hand off but it's just not going to happen. Let's say we get £500,000 maximum then I don't think it's worth it. Hoilett just might be the difference between 15th and 13th. (1 more point would have done that last season so it's not that far fetched). Which would have brought us a lot more than half a million.

There's also the possibility of the next 6 months plus chance of a cup win/final and a strong finish might be enough to bring about a change of heart. If we could turn his head back, what a player we've got.

I imagine there's a similar argument for Benni (particularly in a World Cup year) - although he might command a greater transfer fee in January.

Seconded. Hamburg is an amazing place to live, and I think the German League is a great place to develop.

He should be virtually developed by now.

If he thinks that he is going to really make it to the big time BRFC is the place to showcase his talents. Apart from the two Spanish giants the really big money (as yet) is with the top half dozen clubs in this country. Here is the place to be. There is always a doubt with clubs over signing players that have not proved themselves in the Prem.

As for not liking SA.... who does really like their boss ffs? I hardly imagine that the RFW is on every players dinner guest list at Man U.

He can go to Hamburg for his holidays a few times a year ..... and by private jet if he wants.

He should be virtually developed by now? Well Bentley was older than him when he joined us and he wasn't. In fact the statement is just incorrect. Hamburg are a better team than Rovers. Hamburg is a better place to live than Blackburn. He is only very young, with plenty of time to come back to the English game.

Is it really that hard to understand his point of view?

The club have tried, offered him an amazing deal, no way he will get that good a deal in Germany, however it appears that he wants to leave because he feels that he won't develop due to the style of play we have under Sam. This has nothing to do with money, he will not get the money that Rovers are offering in Germany.

I respect that it's a football decision but I think he is still wrong and if he was to get his head down and get in the team he would develop. I think seeing Diouf waddle around for 90 minutes every week has put him on a downer.

If he gets in the team he will develop regardless of the style of play. The style of play is not as bad as some make out...

Surely a youngster would want to try and make a name for himself in what is regarded by many as the best league in the world? There are some decent teams in Germany, but the premier league is a far superior league.

Or make his name for a big european team who play in european competition yearly, who are in a good league which is far more competitive, surrounded by better players. Add to where he'd be living and again I could see why he would make his decision.

If I were in a situation to make my name playing for Wigan or Hamburg, i know who I'd choose.

Id heard it was more to do with the position they think Junior should grow into, he disagree's and believes he should be a striker. Sam's team feel he should play out wide at the moment

After the Chelsea game I think maybe Junior should listen.

Cheers for that.

So comprimise stick with the current formation and play Junior wide right of the front three. Junior hardly scored for fun in the german second division and I struggle to believe that he didn't get at least one good chance a game. But yet he scored was it 6 goals???

Junior your a wide player, the Germans can tell you your a striker all they like, but I'll wager my last dollar that they play you wide once your there anyway.

He's 19! He's at least 2 or 3 years away.

If he wants to make it in a top league then he has to play as a winger, that seems pretty obvious to me, it happens to almost every player that has attributes and weaknesses like his. I guess Theo Walcott is the best example.

I'd always thought Wenger would evetually move him inside, though. Walcott was a goal machine all through his youth career and I'd thought Wenger was doing an Henry with him? Juniors got plenty of time on his side to develop either way, if I was him I'd be happy getting on the pitch at present in any role. Winger, Striker who cares its the experience he needs at present, should he play more wide and not enjoy it show Sam your a striker by taking your chances and forcing him to change his mind.
