Ozz Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Put him up front instead of Di Santo, and send him back to Chelsea. Play Hoilett and Benni upfront, Dunn (When fit) behind them, Bert, Grella and Diouf behind Dunn.
Backroom Tom Posted December 13, 2009 Backroom Posted December 13, 2009 Yesterday Pedersen should have come on for Di Santo and Hoillet gone up top I think, give the defenders something different to think about. Roberts summed his skills up when he controlled a throw in out for a goal kick.
Hughesy Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Didnt see the match yesterday - how did Hoilett do?
Majiball Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Didnt see the match yesterday - how did Hoilett do? He was awful, I honestly thought Roberts had shrunk until someone pointed out it wasn't him.
Hughesy Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 He was awful, I honestly thought Roberts had shrunk until someone pointed out it wasn't him. Yeah I thought I saw that in one of the sunday rags...
Neil Weaver Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Didnt see the match yesterday - how did Hoilett do? Go on Hughesy, be a devil and read back a few posts before posting........ My link
Hughesy Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Junior should stay Big Sam on Junior - saying he should stick with us and that he is in the best place to develop....says talks are ongoing with his agent. Also Sam says we have big hopes for Jones & Doran too
den Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Junior should stay Big Sam on Junior - saying he should stick with us and that he is in the best place to develop....says talks are ongoing with his agent. He's right as well.
Exiled_Rover Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 As others have mentioned, when Hoilett had the ball at his feet he was quite good on Saturday. He's definitely not a winger though, he doesn't have that little bit of trickery to beat his man. He has the pace and skill to run through teams from the middle though. To me he's going to be a very good second striker for someone, hopefully that someone is us.
Backroom Tom Posted December 15, 2009 Backroom Posted December 15, 2009 Everytime I see this thread is bumped I get a tiny bit of hope that its with news he's decided to sign. Still, fingers crossed
Pinch Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 This article is mainly the product some blogger complaining that Hoilett won't choose to play for Canada, but there is a little bit about Rovers in there: http://www.24thminute.com/2009/12/david-hollett-forgetaboutit.html
Backroom Tom Posted December 17, 2009 Backroom Posted December 17, 2009 At this point in time I am just focussed on establishing my role as a player with Blackburn. As a young player, I think it is the right thing to do to keep focussed on cementing my role in the starting line-up before thinking about international duty at this point in time. That sounds like there's still a chance he may stay, he says he wants to play in Germany again but seems to speak positively of the club, I think the win over chelsea in the cup may make him think twice.
thenodrog Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 might sound a bit childish but has no one thought that bringing banners that say things like 'stay junior hoilett we love you' wouldn't go a miss? Kinell! are you being serious or is that a gag? I don't want it to happen. I value skilful football above all other and Hoilett has skill. Unfortunately, he's not an Allardyce player. Absolute bolloxx! Any quality player is a managers dream.... as long as their head is on their shoulders and not up their arse. One other thing which has just come to me. A fair number of the team just cleared off down the tunnel at the end of the game. Junior was one of the ones however, who came over and acknowledged the fans support (the others being robbo, nelsen, samba and givet I think). Not a massive thing, but a sign he may well be warming to rovers. He might have had some old school mates in the crowd.
John Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 LET last week said there were further contract talks taking place. He has had some game time recently, how do we think he is doing?
Backroom Tom Posted December 21, 2009 Backroom Posted December 21, 2009 Very promising so far, plays with his head down a bit much at times, but awareness will come with time. Reminiscent of Aaron Lennon when he was younger when he would get himself in good positions and then maybe make a bad choice with the final ball. He looks like he could make something happen when on the ball though which is something we have lacked since Bentley left. I'm still doubtfull that he'll sign a contract but the increased pitch time will have helped our cause.
RibbleValleyRover Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 LET last week said there were further contract talks taking place. He has had some game time recently, how do we think he is doing? Raw but some decent potential for development IMO. Not sure the wing is the best place for him, i think he regards himself as a second striker rather than a winger. With a decent amount of game time and mentoring he could become a very decent player. Certainly looks far more dangerous than Diouf or Pedersen. Time to keep him in the side and hopefully regular football might get him to sign a new contract.

T4E Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Certainly looks far more dangerous than Diouf or Pedersen. Tinky Winky could play on our wing and look more dangerous than either of those wasters.
herbergeehh Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I think he looks more of a striker than of a winger too, although he seems to suffer from the same finishing virus as Di Santo and Kalinic. He is an asset out wide at the moment, seeing as the Emerton is injured and the two other regular wide players are crap. He's certainly someone worth keeping, he's by far the most talented 19 year old we've had for quite some time.
John Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 It is weird to see one of our players with some pace.
Mr. E Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 It is weird to see one of our players with some pace. yeah, can't remember the last time we had a real sprinter.
Hughesy Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I think he looked good on saturday - he terrorised their full backs and they couldnt handle him, hence the constant fouling on him. Just a shame he will leave for nothing very soon!
