He looks like an extremely exciting player, judging by that Aachen - St. Pauli video. The commentator went on about how fantastic Hoilett is during the entire clip, and the St. Pauli manager described him as a "Jahrhundert (Century)-Talent".

On both videos I've seen of him now he seems to run the entire game, I'm sure he'll be a better option than Treacey from the bench

If he stays with his employer who got him the permit it is normally renewable. If he doesn't get international caps for a top 75 country or fails to play first team football at Rovers regularly it could be very difficult for him to get a permanent transfer within Britain as his next club would be unlikely to get a new permit.

Anyway, well done Rovers, Rovers' lawyers and presumably, Jack Straw for making this happen for the young lad. Another young player on the edge of breaking into the first team to look forwards to. The pressure on places at Ewood is beginning to look very healthy indeed.

hi all,

just to keep everyone in the picture I wrote an email to our very own MP Jack Strawand asked him if he could maybe look in on the case and see if he could help and I received this reply from him:

THE RIGHT HON JACK STRAW MP

Constituency Office, Richmond Chambers

Richmond Terrace, Blackburn BB1 7AS

Tel: 01254 52317 Fax: 01254 682213

E-mail: [email protected]

Dear Savio

Many thanks for your email and it is very good to hear from you.

On work permits, I have given the club a great deal of assistance over the years to navigate their way through the very complicated rules. I will ask them if they need any assistance from me.

Best wishes

Jack Straw

so hopefully with a bit of luck and fingers and toes crossed they will grant the lad a permit hopefully as he has helped he might be able to swing something

Fair play to you my friend, excellent work :tu:

I am trying not to get too excited about this lad (Hoilett, not Savio), but there is just something about the way Unleaded raves about a player that gets me onboard immediately.

Really starting to look forward to pre-season now.

I'm almost more excited by this than by our other signings, even though I'm very satisfied with our dealings thus far. I know it's just the 2. Bundesliga, but our David looked on fire in the clips I've seen. Very quick and with excellent control of the ball, good vision, good dribbling and a good shot on him as well. Hopefully he'll make his mark in the Premier League sooner or later.

Also, well done to those of you (Brfcrule, among others) who sent out the emails.

great news, the guy looks like he has got a lot talent, lets hope he takes his chance

Young lads have to be eased into the side gently, preferably in a side doing OK to well and the matches chosen carefully!!

That is the secret, even leaving the lad on the bench for the next game, just ease him in gently, however he may be one who does so well you cant leave him out, but Everton handled Rooney very well, however well he was playing, they gave him the neccessary rests to assist his progression, it worked very well!!

Van Heerden and this guy add real pace to the side. Suddenly the right wing has gone from a problem position to being quite interesting. EVH, Diouf, Hoilett, Doran and Emerton all vying for it.

One of them will make it their own next year! I would probably back EVH from what I saw at the Confederations cup but maybe Hoilett can make a splash?

Hopefully that will allow Emerton to play CM, he did the role so well before.

I have high hopes for this kid, as Rovers must if they have signed him from such an early age. Is his brother staying on loan at st pauli?

Cheers for taking the time to respectfully approach Mr. Straw. Who knows how much this may have helped.

So pardon me for being slightly negative but we've definitely got him have we?

The tribunal panel met yesterday morning and voted UNANIMOUSLY for him to get a work permit.

The LET will break the story next week at some stage...no doubt.

Why did we get a permit? Why did we get special treatment? Its unusual! Any ideas nicko?

The panel was made up of football people who heard the background story and realised it was an exceptional case...he has been attached to Rovrs for five years...it's not like it's some fly-by-night scam...the club has a connection with the player and he has with the club.

Very unusual, but that's how it went...there was categorically NO political pressure.

I would be astonished if Jack Straw hadn't let his views be known in appropriate places.

Whether the panel were either aware of that or listened is another matter though.

The main thing is Hoilett now has his chance to impress at Rovers.

Hopefully he lives up to the hype. That stand with the banner saying dont go, showed just how much he meant to that German club, now lets hope he can be a hit here

At least he won't be whingeing about the insalubrious surroundings of Blackburn. Sankt Pauli is the red light district of Hamburg, not far from the Reeperbahn.
