Please be true, massive news for us

Posted

The details of that contract will be interesting to say the least. Signing sweetener, length, bid trigger amount, loyalty bonus etc. Hoilett and his old man have had us over a barrel, it will have cost us thats for sure. Still he is an exceptional talent who can terrorise defenders for fun and is one of the few that is worth paying money to watch.

EVEN IF he doubled his wages, took £250k payment and got a £30m release clause - IT DOESNT matter, aslong as he is here and we have protected our best young asset.

Excellent News....and good to see it in the press.

I don't think a £30million release clause would have people that upset Hughesy!

It is when from a position of weakness the player gets a clause that undervalues him- ie Bellamy.

Anyway, fantasitc talent we get to enjoy at Ewood :brfc:

Bellamy wouldn't have come without that clause.

I'd rather he'd have had that clause and come than got somebody else for the same price as they would not have been able to have the same impact.

From RoverInsider

HOILETT...agreed in principle. Anyone got a pen? £18m release clause. £14m if club relegated

Is that the same person who was "relieved of their position at Rovers" a couple of weeks ago and has got absolutely nothing right so far this summer, other than what they've copied from off here? How do they know the exact details of Hoilett's contract?

Still waiting for official confirmation though.

Agreed but to be fair he's no less reliable than the source that said he had signed a new contract (Jim White on SSN).

I don't think we could be too annoyed if their is a reasonable release clause in there, I'd rather lose him in a year or two for £15m plus than lose him at the end of the season for nowt. Hoilett holds all the cards on this one but he's certainly not going anywhere for around 4 months so presuming his new contract gives him a pay rise he's losing money every day until he puts pen to paper.

If true, nobody can having any complaints with that. Surely Junior's going to be happy, his dads going to be happy, we are going to be happy, his team mates are going to be happy.

Everyones happy! :brfc::D

Come off it jal you just know that if he has a excellent season and somebody triggers the release clause there will be outrage with people saying hes worth double that.

Im happy if the clause is set at £18m, its a big amount and its not an amount that many clubs will go to, you only have to look at the summer amounts to see that. It also gives us the option to maybe add abit more to it in a year or two if he gets a renewed deal.

Apart from City I dont think too many transfers were made over that amount?!

Great news.

Let us not forget we had one poster telling us categorically that Hoilett was leaving and would not sign a contract whilst Kean was manager  and after his injury in January we’d probably not see him in a Rovers shirt again

All a load of bunkum, you know who you are :D

Now how long a deal has he actually signed

In the LT today Kean talks about having him signed up for 4-5 years, so I think 5 more seasons (including the current one).

Kean doesn't know exactly?

Great bit of business.

He hasn't signed yet!

“It’s a long contract,” said Kean.

“We’ve had extensive talks with him over the last couple of days.

“We have agreed in principle a deal which has not been signed yet as there are a few minor things to sort out.

We are confident it will be done and dusted in the next 24 hours.

Sounds good but he's been signing in the next 24hrs for about 2 months now, I won't be happy until it's on the official site.

Long 24 hours!

You would have thought Kean would have learned by now not to make promises he can't keep.

But it served him so well, thus far!
