No you're not, you said he's a lower league player.

I've seen him five times now and he's shown he's much better than that.

That type of finishing proves this does it not.

Just seen the back page of the Telegraph, with Junior taking that angled shot a great picture, hes doing everything right, so before he struck this shot, were on earth did he think the goals were to miss or did he just plot his coordinates for kicking the ball wrong, if the latter is true then definite lower league.

One game you tool! ONE GAME!

Hes a young lad lots of potential....Lightening quick.....so lets sell him to a lower league side!

He scored in the Cup and has a quality touch on him. I really dont understand people who always seem

to have a go at our young academy lads, Give em a chance ffs! ;)

That is unbelievable! Slagging off a 19 year old lad on his 2nd Premier League game! He has shown he has a lot of potential and he needs to be supported and nurtured not criticised. He does not have the best goal scoring record at the moment but he looks as though he has more to his game than just goals. His movement and pace will open up a lot of gaps for not just himself but other team mates so the goals should follow once he develops a bit more and becomes more composed. He is one of the more exciting talents to come through our club in the last few years and I for one would definitely like to see more of him playing for our club, not just ship him off to the lower leagues cos his finishing wasn't too good in one match.

Not many players would have thought to try that chip and had it come off he would be a hero. I would feel more confident when the ball is at Junior's feet than I would with someone like Roberts. Like most people will say, give him a chance and more than one game to judge him on.

If he were local people would automatically love him. He's a great prospect for us, glad to see him getting playing time. He'll improve with time, but he looks like he has the makings of a player who will be very useful for us. He may not turn out to be a star, but he looks like he could be good.

He's pretty prolific so he'll be a bit disappointed he didn't get his goal. But he's a good young player and he'll have many chances to score goals.

“He's going to be a good player for us. He came on wide right but his best position is probably up front. I'd say he's very similar to Jermain Defoe.

He is very similar to Defoe, i.e has pace, quick feet and is a good finisher, to suggest he is a lower league player because of a missed opportunity is plain daft, I bet you thought Bergkamp and Henry were lower league players as they failed to score in the first few games too ;)

Remember thinking WOW when Wenger signed Henry from Juve, when Arsenal Rioch I think it was who signed Bergkamp he was always my first natural choice to replace Shearer at Rovers thats how highly I viewed those two.

I think it's right not to get too caried away just yet, but I'm quite optomistic about the lad. The occasion may have got to him for those chances on Saturday (I'm sure he's still kicking himself over choosing the chip instead of a simpler finish) but for the boy to even get Premierleague game time at just turned 19 is pretty impressive. As far as I'm remember, Derbs was only being cautiously weined into our squad when he was 20, as has been typical with a few of our Academy graduates in recent years, whereas it seemed from the start that Junior will play a decent part in our plans this season, and though it's early days, so far he hasn't looked out of place.

If a striker were to be sold to a lower league whenever they missed a chance like that, Jason Roberts would be playing youth football for an all girls primary school. Give the 19 yr. old a break.

On a side note, how do you pronounce his name? I can't hear it over the banter at the pub, and I cant find it online anywhere.

With Di Santo out I think this guy will probably get a start against Wolves, wither wide right in a 4231 or up top with Kalinic in a 442. Those two could really compliment each other. Kalinic looks like a back to goal sort of guy and Hoilett more of a direct running player. A perfect match. Problem is they really lack experience.

Extremely poor finishing on saturday from junior, could have had an hatrick, did he get one on target, definite lower league class for me.

Lower league class? Wow...

Shows how much you know about football

Pessimistic, negative rovers fans annoy me, get behind our young players instead of criticising! fact is him and Kalinic are the only ones who have looked like scoring as of late and despite their finishing not being great THUS FAR i am hopeful and confident that they will both start hitting the back of the net soon!

If Hoilett is lower league because of his few misses then what is Jason Roberts...??

I think we have already agreed a contract?

Maybe, but apart from a comment on here (by 1864?) I've seen no other confirmation of that anywhere.

As regards Sam "spotting" him, perhaps a bit harsh to blame other managers for not introducing him as I presume he had to play abroad for a specified period to be in with a chance of a work permit.

Oh, absolutely. I guess my point is that Sam seems prepared to back him (same as he is with Di Santo and Kalinic) which is at odds with the wide view that Sam would go for big journeymen in attack.

Agreed, and it was far from a banker that Sam would be able to get a work permit for him at all. Sam had apparently taken a look at him last year and then tried for him this year. I'm really thankful for that b/c it is nice to watch a player just start to blossom and hopefully that is what our Junior continues to do.
