Bazzanotsogreat Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 We won't spend £15m. The club will recieve over 18 million ( - the 3 million Roque will pocket) so why wont Sam be allowed to spend the majority of the money he has generated? The club have just got rid of the best part of 7 million a year in wages.
philipl Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Hello girls (bazza and American)! Little problems of Santa's clause and agent cuts and signing on fees and bank overdraft...
John Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Don't want to take the thread too much off track.... however, if we did not sell anyone, presumably Sam would have had absoutely no money to spend on new players??
laughatthedingles Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Say what you will but think we could do worse than signing Barry Ferguson for the reported million he is available for. Was a decent player for us in the past, his only 2 problems were that Souness billed him as a 'Keane or Vieira' but he is not, more of a deep laying quick mover of the ball. Secondly, was never worth 7.5mil, not his fault again. Would be ideal imo.
Gus Gus Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I also think it's unlikely that we will spend 15m. Whatever the amount is, we could do a lot worse than to spunk it all on one quality centre mid.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 We won't spend £15m. Nicko suggested that we might be "pleasantly surprised" at our transfer budget.

He was just starting to hit his stride and show he was near the quality of Scott Parker (a similarly priced midfielder at the time).
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Hello girls (bazza and American)! Little problems of Santa's clause and agent cuts and signing on fees and bank overdraft... Your points are valid but with the Santa AND Derbyshire monies together Philip if Sam doesn't get the best part of around 15 Million to spend then many of us should be asking serious questions as to where the hell the money is going dont you think!
Grez Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 If Tevez is going to City along with Eto and RSC (hopefully passes his medical at City), does logic not suggest that our second striker is more than likley going to come from there? City cannot keep 5 great strikers (Bellamy and Robinho) in front of Danny Sturridge. I think the most likley outcome will be that Rovers will go for 3 strikers (1 with a fee, one through tribunal and one on loan.) I wouldn't be surprised to see Zigic, Di Santo and Sturridge turn up up at Rovers. I see that money coming to about £10m (incl. tribunal) Midfielders - no idea, but I think its going to be some Egyptian given the amount of scouting we have done. I also think Julio Santa Cruz will get a go along with Hoillet (work permit depending) next year. Failing that... Bent. Good player IMO, but had a rough ride at the spuds.
RibbleValleyRover Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Don't worry lads! Kevin Davies to the rescue!
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Oh christ here we go!...where's the money gone boss
Fraserkirky Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Right-back- Civelli for free as cover. would start Emerton though and use Nelson and Civelli as subs. Defensive Midfield- Barton or Ferguson- cheap 1.5m, someone who can pass the ball a wee bit in midfield. Attacking Midfield- Has to be Emana from Betis guy is class, scored 9 goals from midfield last year for a ###### team, 6million. Strikers- Di Santo(loan), Holiett if we can, Cisse going cheap apparantly 5million. Tailed off a bit last at sunderland after the Keane ordeal, but was scary good before all that. Robinson Emerton Samba Givet Warnock Diouf Emana Barton MGP Cisse McCarthy Bunn Nelson Civelli Dunn Di Santo Roberts Grella Roberts
Amo Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 RB - Sebastien Perez CB - Stephane Henchoz LB - Gary Croft RM - Keith Gillespie LM - Damien Duff CM - Dario Marcolin Anders Andersson FW - Kevin Davies

Ozz Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I like the subtitle of the thread, purely hypothetical!
tcj_jones Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Might as well close this thread. If Nicko is to believed and Davies is Sam's 'number one target' then it means he won't get more than a couple of million to spend this summer. The fact that after signing Givet, the best we've been linked with is Di Santo and Rothen, would appear to support this assessment.
chocky Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Don't worry lads! Kevin Davies to the rescue! noooooooooooooooooooo.... Oh christ here we go!...where's the money gone boss I'm sure I read somewhere the bank has said some of any money that come's in on sales of players must go to pay off some of the club's debt...

He's spent 3.5 already, Davies will be at least 4 million and Rothen will be a fee plus decent wages. We're talking about 100k a week in wages probably, possibly more and at least 9-10 million in transfers if all of that were to happen. That's a decent chunk of money right there and the side will not have been improved at all.

There's also the impending Di Santo loan. We've "lost" Santa but we hardly had him anyway. As for the rest we have to wait before we make any judgement. If we are talking about 100000 a week in wages its not net is it? We've got several players off the wage bill and more to come----Mokoena, Derbyshire,Villanueva and Santa Cruz--how much would their wages be? Any possibility of a balanced view from you?
Daremz Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Marcus Berg, FC Groningen (Holland) would be a very good player (striker) for us. Sam, I know you read this, watch some DVD's of the lad, he's a goal machine for an average team. Buy 'im!

roverseas Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Yes, because one player from the Eredivisie didn't succeed in the prem we should never buy a player from that league ever again.
