Nicko - think you are wasting your time trying to defend the manager and his choice on here. I personally wouldn't spend more than £2mil on Davies but facing facts if I was any good at this sort of thing I'd be making my living at it. Like everyone else on here. Fact is this righteous indignation is so over the top that part of me hopes we do sign him just to give them something to really moan about <_<

Quote Eddie.

If we have searched the world and only been able to come up with Davies a few miles down the road who used to play for our club and for our current manager then we need an entirely new bunch of scouts.

Or, the players we are looking for are simply not there, many people meet their wives from the same or even next town,

in theory, there is a whole world full of women to choose from, so why, many cases its because we have met them previously and know them!!

A scout can only look, given the directives from the manager, he may recommend and then the boss goes out for a final look! Then its up to the manager who signs, scouts dont sign players full stop.

Wait, are we looking at marrying Kevin Davies?

I don't know about how you looked/are looking for your wife, but I've not sent out a highly trained and experienced bunch of well-paid professionals to look for her. I might give it a go though.

PERHAPS YOU SHOULD READ WHAT I SAID AGAIN

Whoops. Multi tasking is never a good thing. Ie, working and talking on here at the same time. I still don't see that many teams outside of the top 8 being interested in paying £6million on Davies to be honest.

Quick and fast striker... Óscar Cardozo... Darren Bent...

There are also some cracking Nigerian strikers i was talking about in a article i did recently, Victor Nsofor Obinna, Joseph Akpala and Chinedu Obasi. All have good goalscoring records, pacey, creative and wouldn't cost too much!

Not to mention he's 50 times the player that Kevin Davies is/was/ever will be.

Agreed so why have no other clubs snapped up this world class bargain striker, his contract finishes in November?

Nicko - I think you may have gone insane.

Arshavin is currently one of the Top 5 players in the world, and I would rather have one Pavlyuchenko than an entire team of Kevin Davies's. I remain fairly certain that the Pogrebnyak story was nothing more than a rumour, but I digress.

I guarantee that the "intensity" of the Russian or Argentinean leagues is certainly greater than that of the Premier League reserves, yet you are adamant in claiming that Franco Di Santo is perfectly capable of playing week-in, week-out in the top flight. Question - Which (international) leagues in your opinion ARE "fast" and "intense" enough to warrant their players a potential move to the Premier League?

I think this entire problem boils down to the "next season is the only important one" debate - and THAT is what will see us relegated within three years. Let's say next season we have Di Santo and Davies, and finish mid-table. Then in summer 2010 we lose Di Santo back to Chelsea, and have a big lump of a striker pushing 34. I'm beginning to believe that no-one at Blackburn Rovers understands the concept of "INVESTING IN THE SQUAD". We want (need) younger, exciting players - it's got f*** all to do with "re-sell value" in my eyes.

Such a sorry state of affairs.

It was not a rumour:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_4864754,00.html

He does NOT want to play for Rovers.

Yeah, i can really see Manu, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa or Everton bidding £6 million plus for Davies. Their managers would be slaughtered if they did that!

Here's a dream alternative. Play Diouf or Roberts in the Davies roll as they are similar players, and spend the money on a different type of player. A type of player we don't currently have without Cruz, creative, young and with pace...

LET have a article about Darron Gibson on the Rovers section at the moment. Would be quality.

Nicko said anyone OUTSIDE the top 6

Also Óscar Cardozo has scored 3 goals for Paraguay in 24 games, hardly lethal.

Bent, as has been mentioned a million times before would cost at least £10 million with £75K wages, unrealistic signing.

Still waiting for the Dream Alternative from someone...anyone.

And I am still waiting for your answer to what happens in 1/2 years time when lardarse is finished along with our £5/6mil and there is no money to replace him.

I am still of the opinion that you only post on this board because you get some perverse pleasure out of winding us up, and yes, you are good at it.

imy9 - you did this relentless and often very strange defending of Ince last summer. I'm in no way comparing Allardyce to Ince, merely trying to point it out that it IS okay to disagree with what our manager is doing once in a while.

Roque Santa Cruz last 5 years:

2004/2005 - Bayern Munich - Apps 4 Goals 0

2005/2006 - Bayern Munich - Apps 15 Goals 4

2006/2007 - Bayern Munich - Apps 35 Goals 3

2007/2008 - Blackburn Rovers - Apps 43 Goals 23

2008/2009 - Blackburn Rovers - Apps 16 Goals 6

The verdict - Can't stay fit, can't score when he is. One season wonder.

Kevin Davies has been a consistent starter for Bolton and ALWAYS gives them 100%. He's caused us no end of problems (something he shares with Santa Cruz) over the years and is a team player (something he doesn't share with Mr Paraguayan Radio). Allardyce knows how to win football matches and, for that matter, knows a lot more than any of us about football - and he rates him as his number one target.

Bolton aren't going to let him go on the cheap - but value doesn't come into it. If he keeps us up for just one season he's priceless.

CARDOZO would cost about £10-12 million.

BENT ditto. Same as yesterday too.

OBINNA is available on loan at Inter Milan..he's THAT good.

AKPALA is one year into his career at Bruges...might need more time to assess him.

OBASI is unlikely to leave the very wealthy Hoffenheim.

If you get Davies you will still be in the Premier League in two or three years time...

On the verge of relegation.

Where as if we spend wisely with players with sell-on potential we will stay in for a further 6-7 years...

God knows why your making Alan a scapegoat in all of this, he gives us news - whether it be what you want to hear or not, and keeps it interesting in these boring few months without football.

All right, own up.

How many times have you seen Davies play in the last four or five years?

How many times have you seen these Nigerian wonder boys?

The Nigerian chaps... Kind of hard to tell as i was going through tapes...

What!? I did a article about upcoming African talent for a archives journal?

I think the point is that you have complained in the past about people bringing up your profession as a stick to beat you when the fact is you quit often bring it up yourself. Its either relevant or it isn't. I personally think it's great we have "friends" in the media because we get enough unwarranted stick from the others. My question to you would be do you pass on all these suggestions to the club or are they just posted on here?
