Just to put things another way, if,in any occupation or even at a casino, if you found a system which was successful, surely you would use the system again wouldnt you?

Kevin Davies has grown up at Bolton and indeed scored a few goals and probably had more than his fair share of assists too!!

His game now is so different than when he was previously at Ewood and Sam gave him that part to his game, I do feel that if he gets the right players around him and at the right money, then fine, I can tell you that he was being 'talked up' big time on match of the day last year, I think Hansen said he was the best player of his kind in England!!

Sadly for nearly every Blackburn Rovers supporter out there, Kevin Davies damaged his reputation last time he played for us and that reputation will always be damaged.

Its an absolute no brainer for Sam to bring him back and IF, he did, it would only damage Big Sams reputation with the fans that come probably the end of season Sam would have to leave as all faith, belief and trust would have evaporated in him to manage the club.

Nicko mentioned that we'd want two strikers in before we sold Derbyshire. If Davies and Di Santo come in to replace Derbs then id have no complaints, provided that davies is no more then £2m. He's a useful player but nothing more.

If Davies is the Santa Cruz replacement then thats a different story. I do not want Davies to become our stand out signing of the summer.

Although, If we could swap Roberts for Davies id be very happy with that. Davies is a boring, dull, beige player but he can score far more frequently then Blobby.

Also i cant see why Davies would come, what can we offer that Bolton cant? Other than Sam?? Diouf was one thing but Davies would be a step too far in the wrong direction. When we reached Europe with Sparky we did it with flair and skill and although i appreciate that we cannot simply expect that to happen again and that results are the most important thing, we now have the money to get decent enough players in order to not resort to the old Bolton ways. Please please dont let us become what Bolton were two or three years ago.

didn't bolton get in to europe 2 or 3 years ago?

If Kevin Davies is the quality were going to bring in...

I'm going to make a change of tack...

Yes, just say it was a terrible mistake, we didn't know what we were doing.......

.........so can we have Kuki back!

I think we are going to have to introduce a 'likelyness of deal' section for Nicko like they have on the Daily Mail site. Rating 1-5 of likelyness...

I'm hoping Kevin Davies is a 1 or 2, because he plays like one...

Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Carlton Cole, Darren Bent, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Danny Welbeck, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Ishmael Miller, Matt Derbyshire and Cameron Jerome are all a better strikers then Davies. If Cruz is a one season wonder, Davies is a one season wonder if ever i seen one.

Jesus Christ, Davies will be facing his 34th birthday at the end of next season!

Likelihood, damnit.

Been piledriving scotch for the last hour... Can you blame me!

Darren "my wife could have scored that header" "can't get a game" Bent?

Danny "doesn't play that much" Welbeck?

Ishmaek Miller (i'm guessin you put him in for a little laugh)

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (see above)

Matt Derbyshire (can't get a game in the Premier League thats why he's going to Greece)

Carlton Cole? he's alright but no-where near as good as Davies

alright i'll rephrase, one of the best English target men in the league.

So good that Capello is not playin him at the moment and will surprise the world by playing a 33 year old Davies in South Africa.

Or maybe not....

2 target men in the england squad already, Heskey and Crouch. no need for another.

You have simply highlighted that most English strikers are ****. Being English is irrelevant. Capello picked Carlton Cole over Davies.

Also at 32 I can see little difference between this and the Fowler signing to be honest

Whilst I cant stand the thought of that man at Ewood again;

Robbie Fowler could barely get a match at Cardiff City in Division Two.

Kevin Davies was in the top 10 Premier League scorers last season.

And how many goals did RSC score last season? The fact of the matter is KD is fecking old, and i dont think he will be worth it. Fair enough Tugs is old but at least he has more skill in his little finger than KD has in his whole two feet!!!

This is worrying, although Davies isn't awful anymore he is not the kind of player we should be looking at. No resale value and no pace.

Lets hope roque fails the medical as this is a backwards step in all respects.

Darren "scored as many goals as Davies and has got more years then Davies" "has more chance of being in the England squad then Davies" Bent?

Danny "18 years old Manchester United huge prespect, various youth trophies, England U21" Welbeck?

Ishmael Miller (scored against us, is only 22 years old, is a England U21 star of the future i'm sure - 15 goals in 28 games for Brom)

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (a better goal ratio then 1 goal in 2 games - Only 23 - England U21)

Matt Derbyshire (has time to progress - only 23 - Has bundles of potential, only reason were selling is we need the money...)

Carlton Cole? "he's alright but no-where near as good as Davies" - (Are you on drugs? - Scored 12 goals last season also got caps for England International and U21's - Oh and is 7 years younger then Davies - Davies 3 U21's caps only at 32!?)

Danny "18 years old Manchester United huge prespect, various youth trophies, England U21" Welbeck? just like Danny Simpson

Ishmael Miller (scored against us, is only 22 years old, is a England U21 star of the future i'm sure - 15 goals in 28 games for Brom) so everyone who's scored a goal against us is mint?

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (a better goal ratio then 1 goal in 2 games - Only 23 - England U21) he's been playing in the championship

Matt Derbyshire (has time to progress - only 23 - Has bundles of potential, only reason were selling is we need the money...) ...and he's not good enough to be in our squad

Carlton Cole? "he's alright but no-where near as good as Davies" - (Are you on drugs? - Scored 12 goals last season also got caps for England International and U21's - Oh and is 7 years younger then Davies - Davies 3 U21's caps only at 32!?) see Darren bent :P

Danny "18 years old Manchester United huge prespect, various youth trophies, England U21" Welbeck? just like Danny Simpson - Danny Simpson didn't get likened to Kanu by Sir Alex Ferguson, as much as i hate the guy, he knows a good player when he see's one! He has made the bench in Champions League games, you don't have that happen if your rubbish!

Ishmael Miller (scored against us, is only 22 years old, is a England U21 star of the future i'm sure - 15 goals in 28 games for Brom) so everyone who's scored a goal against us is mint? - Nope, just thought you might have seen the goal? It was pretty damn good!

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (a better goal ratio then 1 goal in 2 games - Only 23 - England U21) he's been playing in the championship - So? You don't get Capello's attention if you are not good enough?!

Matt Derbyshire (has time to progress - only 23 - Has bundles of potential, only reason were selling is we need the money...) ...and he's not good enough to be in our squad - But he's good enough to be scouted by Capello for the U21's..? Like i said, not good enough at the moment, but deserves first team football. I have no doubt that he will 'James Beattie' us...

Davies is underrated, last season he was close to the England squad. My only concern is his age. If we do sign him, I hope the fee is at least on par with, or below Grella's. Because he has no resale value.

He's not the donkey we signed all those years ago, though.

Did he not have a serious illness last time he was at Rovers?

Kevin Davies could do a job for Rovers, maybe for 1-2 seasons. 12 goals last season, is not bad in itself. Sam knows the player - as he does El Hadj Diouff. We were all up in arms about that signing - yet he has come into the squad and done pretty good for Rovers. I do not believe he will be a RSC replacement - just an addition to the squad.

Personally I think I will trust Big Sam still for awhile at least. At the end of the day he knows what he is wanting to do. Lets be honest Davies is a horrible player to play against - I would rather he played for rovers than against Rovers. At least he gives 100%.

Why have England been looking at him if he is as bad as some say on here. It maybe a cheaper option becasue sam is maybe looking to strengthen elsewhere - midfield perhaps.

utterly woeful if remotely true...........................age 32 = no transfer fee surely, absolute shocking waste of resources.

benni and davies...........too slow imobile

roberts and davies..........lot of work little end product

franco and davies............not sure even burnley would fear that

or quite likely it will only be the 1 upfront next year FFS.

this possible signing only makes sense if he is a free agent, paying any fee is obscene.

PLEASE SAM SIGN JANKO, he's 26, new and exciting got a bit of pace and generally all round would make me anticipate the new season that bit more........signing davies kills a part of me and makes the black clouds seem that bit closer. FFS was never more aptly used as all i hear is my brain saying FFS, really FFS.

This is the last post i'm going to make with regards to Davies (unless i'm directly asked or the deal actually happens), he is 32, at the end of next season he is going to be staring 34 down the throat. He has just signed a new deal at Wanderers, so he wont come cheap.

The only way he will be worth it is if we can get him for around 1 million. We won't get him for 4 million.

SAM LOOK ELSEWHERE - ALSO Bring that average age down whilst you have the funding!!!
