PAFELL Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Yep, I don't think he'll be getting a particularly good leaving present or card for that matter. In fact, he'll be lucky to get out without the door (or a boot) hitting his back side. He'll meet the Samba this season - be put on the floor in a half Nelsen - meet steve in a WARnock mood and end up screaming Ooijer. - I'll get my coat!!

roversmum Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Brilliant! Great discussion going on here Do join in folks, I have
Rovermatt Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Just as i thought the Spurs idiots are flooding boards like 606 gloating about Bentley leaving us and saying we should be giving Bentley more respect. Is there really in the premier league a set of fans more deluded and repulsive as them. United's fans are pond life but at least their club is successful. This move deepens my dislike of Spurs and all that they stand for - flash, overpriced mediocrity.
The Prof. Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 United's fans are pond life but at least their club is successful. This move deepens my dislike of Spurs and all that they stand for - flash, overpriced mediocrity. Discussed - on Spurs website for Roversmum
The Prof. Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Lack of ambition - you appear to have forgotton the old days when a memo went around the staff at Ewood Park to use the tea bag twice when making a cup of tea. JW is doing, imo, the best he can with the resources he has. I do not believe any serious supporter of Rovers wants to go back to the old days when the club nearly went out of buisness. This club - that in you view lacks ambition - is still one of only 4 clubs to have won the premiership. It has a team that its players are wanted by other clubs - Ince and the board are having to fight off other clubs in order to keep hold of players. I believe very soon a lot of these clubs who have mega debts will go bust - never to rise again - unless they do an accrington stanley and come back again after how many years? In this situation it is Bentley who wants to leave - will you be going to spuds with him? Bentley, yes a good player - but not an ecellent player - Bentley only thinks about himself and not the club. he is only thinking of his own ambition and not the ambitions of ANY club he may play for. "We celebrated the third division championship by cracking open a create of Brown Ale" - Mr. Rovers Legend Tony Parkes. Them were the days eh Jim?
neophox Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 One question! Bentley wanted to join a top 4 club. And he ends up at Spurs who came after us in the league. Its all about the money. Bentley ££££cash in his eyes. He had a three year contract. We should get at least £18m for him.
LeChuck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 It's not. And it's been copied and pasted from another topic he wrote it in.
Rover down South Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 no he wasnt. in his first 2 seasons, he played some incredible football. his 2nd season was probably his best one, when him and robben played in the wide roles, frequently swapping sides. he also scored about 10 goals that season i think. think duff will have been delighted with the switch - he won trophy's, played with some amazing players and got paid a small fortune.... In his 2nd game at wembley, he was the best player on the park. amazing how selective peoples memories are just because he's leaving us now Were you there? Click back some way to just after the England Usa game & I said the same then. He was crap....end of. He was slightly better against Switzerland, beforehand, but NOT international class. If you were there, like me, you would of got a good viewing from both games on how poor he is at that level. Get over your Rovers bias on this one mate.
21 Rover Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 SSN saying a 6 year contract worth £15m. Works out about £48k per week. Gutted with the way he engineered his move - dont like seeing a player doing a big dump on a club that saved him
Roar of the Rover Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 SSN saying a 6 year contract worth £15m. Works out about £48k per week. Gutted with the way he engineered his move - dont like seeing a player doing a big dump on a club that saved him yeah thats what disappoints me as well. The manner of his move and I think most fans are angry at that as well, which is why when he returns to Ewood he won't be getting a welcome reception. Good player BUT needs to sort his attitude out if he wants to move on to bigger and better things (unless he thinks Spurs are the best)
Bobby G Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 He wont give a damn about any bad reception. He was being booed by every away fan at a point if you recall...
21 Rover Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Like someone said with Friedel - When he pulls that White shirt on, he is nothing to us anymore. He will get booed at ewood and he will deserve it for the way he was outspoken after all the support we gave him. Another one destined to fail, following a move from Ewood.
rebelmswar Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 £18.1 million apparently. £2.1 of it is add-ons Where did you hear that?
Parsonblue Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I'm sorry to see him go as he was, without doubt, our most creative midfielder for the majority of last season. I can fully understand why he wants to leave. He's young, just got into the England team and is ambitious to win things. He might not win things at Tottenham, but it is a bigger stage in terms of crowds and media coverage. Whilst we, as Blackburn supporters, find it difficult to comprehend the likes of Hughes, Brad and now Bentley wanting to leave the fact remains that football is their chosen career and the decisions they make are made with their careers in mind and not the Rovers. All have given excellent service to the club during their time here and I wish all three every success in the future.
Frisky Jim Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Please don't mention Leeds, they are not relevant to us at all. There's a hell of a lot of middle ground between the peanuts Hughes had to spend and suicidal plans Leeds had. £5-£10 million for Hughes last January wouldn't have made the trustees bankrupt, but it might just have kept our management and best players. Absolutely spot on. Failure to back Hughes equates to a lack of ambition by Williams and his cronies. Indeed, a lack of ambition at the club is why Hughes left, and why Bentley and Friedel left as well. Lack of ambition - you appear to have forgotton the old days when a memo went around the staff at Ewood Park to use the tea bag twice when making a cup of tea. JW is doing, imo, the best he can with the resources he has. I do not believe any serious supporter of Rovers wants to go back to the old days when the club nearly went out of buisness. Bentley, yes a good player - but not an ecellent player - Bentley only thinks about himself and not the club. he is only thinking of his own ambition and not the ambitions of ANY club he may play for. Football did not begin in 1992. As someone so eager to harp on about the bad old days prior this particular year, you should be aware of this. I won't be going to White Hart Lane with David Bentley because I support Blackburn Rovers. Criticise David Bentley all you want, but at least the lad has ambition and has gone to a club with ambition.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...pur/7530967.stm "Rovers chairman John Williams told BBC Radio Lancashire on Wednesday that a deal of about £18m had been agreed "in principal" for the 23-year-old."

Get over your Rovers bias on this one mate. Yes i was, - as i am for every england game. against switzerland he was magnificent. against usa - he was as bad as all the rest on the pitch. it was just one of those strange games that never really kicked into life. but to try and say he's not international class, just shows you up for your clear lack of footballing knowledge.
sparky12 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 just been looking at some stats and in 133 games for rovers 23 yro bentley has scored 21 goals for the club and has made 3 appearences for england scoring no goals. whereas for his club adaux italiano 22 yro carlos villanueva has scored 50 times in only 125 appearences with 12 international caps and 1 international goal for his country chile
sparky12 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 tottenham fans arnt as enthusiastic asn i thought on the bentley move tottenham forum
Mr. E Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 That's it then. Another ###### goes. After Friedel I can't be bothered really.
ebenrocks Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 glad he's finally gone. Thanks for the service mate, have fun on the bench
USABlue Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Too bad he's gone but I thought he had already left us about 2/3 of the way through last season. Good player, we'll see how he does.
