roverfanuk Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Remember he has his own articles in Zoo or Nutts (cant remember) so he is bound to be being paid for that! Having said that, maybe we should put in a cheaky low bid for him in January, just to remind everyone including Bentley, just how well he has done since going to Spuds and how much his value will have dropped since leaving!

up and rover Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 It is a bit of a mess really. Its obvious Damian Comolli is to blame for most of it. His buying when Jol was in charge was very poor and during the summer selling Berb had to be done, but Keane!? Both their star strikers? and then hardly replacing them. But sacking Comolli is not going to change the team, or their attitude and work rate, only Ramos can do that. Must admit it is very amusing and apart from newcastle, I cant think of a set of big headed, sorry, 'big club' fans I would want out of the premiership more. Although I don't think they will, but imagine the sort of mess they would be in, all those big headed players including Bently wouldn't stay around would they?
Billy Castell Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I just wish they panic buy in January, and then still go down. We should hawk them Mokoena for £4m. Even if they sack Ramos, they'd be £10-15m worse off, which would be amusing, despite the fact they'll eventually get out of relegation trouble. Worst start for 96 years apparently. And who'd have thought the level Bentley ended up at would be hovering around the relegation zone. I've even read a letter or two saying that Hoddle should come back and be given money, unlike the last time he was manager (or so they say). Is this the same Hoddle that took them to Europe after winning the Worthington Cup (sic)? I really wish they will stay down there and go down, but I think they won't.
tonyoz Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The home side continued to press after the interval, and David Bentley was introduced after 54 minutes as replacement for Chris Gunter, although it was mystifying to see him filling a right-back role. old darwen blue Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Oh dear, I see David hasnt found the grass greener after all! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle4895065.ece
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Well blow me down with a feather, Bentley isn't pointing at himself but yapping away adding to the problems for Ramos.
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Its in most of the papers but The Times gives young David particular prominence. It is backfiring on Bentley because there is a lot of comment that he was no good when he played for England anyway- a bit unfair but that's what happens when you blag your way into a career blackhole.
Ricky Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 No quotes at all though. I never trust a story without one siongle quote from the player in question.
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 The bad news for Rovers of Bentley reverting to Norwich levels of performance is the club will never see the £2m of add-ons to take the transfer up to £17m.
Hughesy Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 The add-ons where based on club appearances and goals I believe. Im 99% certain that he will return to his form its just a matter of time before Tottenham start to click.
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Remember, Levy made sure Charlton didn't get their payments for Bent when it turned out he was not as good as he hoped he was so Bentley could find he is subject to a Chairman's instruction not to be played unless he is 100% on form. There could be an element linked to England caps and/or Spurs' European qualification and winning things; Charlton missed out by not spotting Spuds had added the word FA to the clause about winning a domestic cup.
gumboots Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I can't help it. I feel sorry for him. I know all the rubbish about his transfer and I've seen that interview. I know he got too big for his boots and didn't play as well as he could for us at the end when we really needed big performances from him. Even so I feel sorry for him, because I actually found him a nice guy on the couple of occasions when I met him and I really wanted to see him displace Beckham on england's right. He made his choice and in some ways it serves him right that Spurs are doing so badly and he's out of favour there, but there's still a bit of me that thinks his agent should be sacked for doing that deal.
Hughesy Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 Bentley should of showed us more respect - its as simple as that. Because he didnt, he deserves what he gets - The Blackburn Curse

Because he didnt, he deserves what he gets - The Blackburn Curse Oh, I know he deserves it but it doesn't stop me wishing he didn't. Don't get me wrong I want him and Spurs together to fail miserably but I'm too nice a person to feel really vindictive.
ABBEY Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 but I'm too nice a person to feel really vindictive. im not ....its chuffing making me cry laughing ,couldnt happen to a nicer big headed chav.

Why should his agent be sacked for doing that deal? His agent can advise him but he can only do what Bentley wants him to and didn't Bentley say that he had "worked his nuts off to get that transfer"?
thenodrog Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Bentley should of showed us more respect - its as simple as that. You are just too nice for your own good Gumboots. It serves the ungrateful barsteward right in my opinion. He must know that the Rovers fans are revelling in his demise and that too must really get up his arrogant little nose.
ABBEY Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 what would be funny if sky got a lashed up rover and did the same style interview as in close season and video linked him in....i'd pay to see that.
Billy Castell Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Whilst I'm not as hostile as some, like Abbey, I am enjoying Bentley's bad run after his dummy spitting before his move. All the more so because he went to the foreskins, who are the most arrogant deluded bunch of tossers around.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 You know we really shouldn't laugh but oh what the hell...... HO! HO!! HO!!!
