Sparky Marky Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 yep, give him a 5k per week rise and put a minimum fee clause in the new deal of around £17 million..

Look4Me Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Depends though if they use it to give some of the U21s a chance. Vieira is not going to play in another major tournament, doesn't seen much point in just picking him so they can win a friendly....although it is the French so you never know! No N'Zonzi in the French squad to face Norway..it's a decent midfield, but he shouldn't be too far off. Seing as N'Zogbia is there, it would seem Blanc doesn't just go for big names from big clubs.. Goalies: Douchez, Nicolas (Rennes) Ruffier, Stéphane (Monaco) Defence: Cissokho, Aly (Lyon) Debuchy, Mathieu (Lille) Fanni, Rod (Lille) Mexes, Philippe (Roma) Rami, Adil (Lille) Sakho, Mamadou (PSG) Tremoulinas, Benoit (Bordeaux) Midfield: Cabaye, Yohan (Lille) Diarra, Lassana (Real Madrid) Matuidi, Blaise (Saint-Etienne) Mvila, Yann (Rennes) N'Zogbia, Charles (Wigan) Nasri, Samir (Arsenal) Sissoko, Moussa (Toulouse) Attack: Ben Arfa, Hatem (Marseille) Benzema, Karim (Real Madrid) Briand, Jimmy (Lyon) Hoarau, Guillaume (PSG) Menez, Jérémy (Roma) Remy, Loic (Nice)
Majiball Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 There's still al the banned world cup players to come back, N'zonzi has some way to go to break into the France squad. Very pleased he has signed a new deal, hopefully he can build on last season.
LeChuck Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 That team probably would have done better than the one that went to the World Cup! .................... Ruffier Fanni .. Mexes . Sakho . Cissokho ............. Diarra .. Sissoko ... Remy ....... Nasri ..... Ben Arfa .................. Benzema That's a very good team. Quite scary from an English point of view, we couldn't name an entirely different 23 and come up with a team that strong. Having said that, part of the reason that team is so strong is because Domenech made some stupid omissions from his WC squad. N'Zonzi is a million miles away from the French team by the way.
Eddie Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 It's a talented 23, but a lot of overrated players in there (Nasri, Ben Arfa, Diarra)
LeChuck Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 It's a talented 23, but a lot of overrated players in there (Nasri, Ben Arfa, Diarra) Nasri? I think he's brilliant, whenever he deputised for Fabregas in a central role last season he looked excellent. Diarra is the sort of uncomplicated midfielder every team needs too. Ben Arfa I'll give you, although the potential is there if he sorts himself out.
Eddie Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 They're all good players, but nowhere near as good as they've somehow convinced people that they are. Nasri will eventually go down as one of Wenger's worst signings when it comes to value for money.
Derby Blue Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Is there a possibility that a clause was inserted in his initial contract to be offered improved terms after so many appearances or so many in one season? Would make sense as an incentive, especially as a reletive inknown and presumably on lower wages.

It might be the club trying to protect all their potentially valuable assets. Jones signed for 5 years too, didn't he? Sends a good signal out to other young players being pursued by Rovers. You play well for us, we reward you..

sparkspakespoke Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 They're all good players, but nowhere near as good as they've somehow convinced people that they are. Nasri will eventually go down as one of Wenger's worst signings when it comes to value for money. Typical match of the day opinion. Actually watch him play for a couple of full games and you'll see he is top quality. His movment and passing are brilliant and he will go on to be a top player. Only thing holding him back is that he cant play in his favoured central position at Arsenal as Wenger likes Cesc (understandebly) and a defence minded player such as Song in the middle.
AHoyle90 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 N'Zonzi has done a great job for us, but tipping him for the France squad is going stupid. They have 23 players banned and are still calling up players who are regulars in Champions League teams. N'Zogbia has played at a decent level in the Premier League for quite a while now, especially last season so his call is understandable. BTW, Samir Nasri is a top player. As said above he needs to be in his preferred central role to express himself more, and when I've seen him play there he's looked excellent.
Blue n White Rover Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Nzonzi, Olsson, Jones and Hanley have all done 5 year contract this summer. Means nothing.
47er Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Means nothing. Its better than if they hadn't signed them
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Nzonzi, Olsson, Jones and Hanley have all left on a free transfer because Rovers failed to secure their futures. Means nothing.
Doaksie Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 An indication from the expert on why N'Zonzi hasn't been getting much game time this season: SAM ALLARDYCE TELLS NZONZI HE'S GETTING TOO BIG FOR HIS BOOTS ".....He has got a kick up the backside.” Let's see how the young Frenchman responds. Positively I hope. I'm sure Grella will break down soon enough in any case.

Typical tabloid rubbish. Vince has been mince but if N'Zonzi wasn't doing the business in training you can understand Sam benching him, but after the latest insipid Rovers midfield display things have to change.

Much what you'd expect from the Daily Star really. The quotes do however imply he has been slacking in training, which sheds a little light on the decision not to start him this season so far. Mince Grella, I like it.

It's in the LET this morning too so isn't made up by the Daily Star. Sam says he does indeed need a kick up the backside. N'Zonzi
Backroom DE. Posted September 21, 2010 Backroom Posted September 21, 2010 N'Zonzi could have put in better performances than Grella this season in his sleep. Considering the burden that was put upon him last year by starting so many Premiership games at such a young age having come from a far inferior league, it must be a bit galling to watch the bloke you were covering for get picked before you despite the fact he's crap.
Hughesy Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Sam is just trying to get that reaction from NZonzi - he has done it many time before now, including the likes of El Hadj & MGP last season & its worked with them. NZonzi still has a very bright future, make no mistake about that.
Mr. E Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Is Allardyce drunk or is he just trying to annoy us? A one-legged Nzonzi will probably do a better job than Grella. Andrews would do a better job than Grella. This has cost us a few points this season.
rebelmswar Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Do you want zonzi to become a Bentley? If his head is swollen he needs a swift kick in the ass.
Smithy Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Guess it must be do as I say not do as I do under Sam.
