BuckyRover Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Totally indifferent. I don't share the eulogising of him. I thought he was average for us and when I saw him in the WC. Good business at the time, but then Salgado came in. Are West Ham our feeder club?
tcj_jones Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I think West Ham have got themselves a bargain. He's a solid right back who played consitently well for us until Salgado came in. I'd have much rather seen the back of Chumpbonda.

I'd have much rather seen the back of Chumpbonda. Apparently Chimbonda was going there, until we demanded a fee and West Ham pulled out and opted for Jacobsen. At least one of them had to go, due to the surplus of right-backs.
T4E Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 the surplus of right-backs..... .....was something that we could all see last Summer. So why was Sam allowed to sign them all? Presumably the demand for a fee for Chimbonda was due to his ability to play LB or CB as well. As a squad player this gives him a huge advantage over Jacobsen. No doubt his wages reflect that - and then some.
Commondore Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I LOVE that picture of Chimbonda. It's just so "I get to do what I like most 3-4 hours a day and make a fortune doing it while also reaping all the rewards of being a celebrity, man, clumsy, hit shift + 8 again!! everyone who's not me!"

den Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Lars didn't like the type of football played under Allardyce.
LeChuck Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Lars didn't like the type of football played under Allardyce. Let's see what he says when West Ham are relegated in May.
Amo Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Lars didn't like the type of football played under Allardyce. I love sensationalist headlines. He hardly 'slams' our style of play, just says it isn't what he's used to and accepts there are different styles needed for the PL.
Bobby G Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 He pretty much said exactly the same to me when I met him in Dubai in February.
Stuart Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Lars didn't like the type of football played under Allardyce. He doesn't actually say that. He says he's looking forward to playing the "West Ham way". Trying to endear himself to West Ham fans early on. Never heard him once make a peep whilst at Blackburn, he just got on with it. If he was really unhappy here (which I doubt), I'm even more impressed at his attitude. Lars Jacobsen gives professional football a good name.

The thing is, he wouldn't be the only player thinking that - would he!
Backroom DE. Posted September 8, 2010 Backroom Posted September 8, 2010 West Ham's style of football hasn't gotten them much so far, has it?
rebelmswar Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 No but our players seem to like it as well as their history, winning ways, buffet etc.
T4E Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Lars Jacobsen gives professional football a good name. Totally agree, seems like a good all round egg. Would much rather have his character around than Chimbonda's.
S15 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Totally agree, seems like a good all round egg. Would much rather have his character around than Chimbonda's. Good eggs attract bad semen. Pull that one apart....
FourLaneBlue Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 He says he didn't like the long ball game. He preferred playing it from the back, on the floor. The thing is, he wouldn't be the only player thinking that - would he! I don't give a toss what they think, they are paid damn well to earn points for Rovers. Slowly, but surely, I think our style is improving under Sam. We will never play like Arsenal but we are getting easier on the eye over time.
ewoodpo Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I think he forgot to mention the fact that a 35 year old who'd played the passing game at Real Madrid for 10 years was the one that kept him out of the side tosser.

Damn dude. He's entitled to his opinion and its been taken out of context. I think the lad did a good job here for his few games. A very useful player, kind of reminded me of a poor mans Berg with some of his runs and pressure on the opposition defense.
Guest bluerovers Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 There's an expression "The spectator sees more of the game" so I guess Lars is a good person to ask...
John Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Whilst the pundits lauded Scott Parker for his excellent display on Saturday, as West Ham carved out their first point of a season that has disappointed so far, you agreed with me and voted for Jacobsen as your man-of-the-match.
Stuart Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 West Ham's best player isn't much of an accolade these days but I'm not surprised he's being spoken of in glowing terms. Should have let them have Chimbonda on a free instead.
Steve Moss Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 West Ham's best player isn't much of an accolade these days but I'm not surprised he's being spoken of in glowing terms. Should have let them have Chimbonda on a free instead. We owed them big time. After all, they took Benni off of our hands.
Hughesy Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 They took a 3rd/ possibly 4th choice right back off our hands who can only play 1 position - so what, saves us wasting wages on him!
