Haha, what a legend. I'm tempted to make an allstar "BeNeLux Premier League Legends All Star XI" (that should probably be "BeNe") to honour Orlando Trustfull's name and memory.

..... which I did:

GK: Sieb Dijkstra (QPR)

DR: Regis Genaux (Coventry)

DC: Ulrich van Gobbel (Southampton)

DC: Philippe Albert (Newcastle)

DL: Ken Monkou (he had to be in the team, so makeshift left back it is) (Southampton)

MR: Regi Blinker (Sheffield Wednesday)

MC: Orlando Trustfull (Sheffield Wednesday)

ML: Glenn Helder (Arsenal)

FC: Gilles de Bilde (Sheffield Wednesday)

FC: Marco Boogers (West Ham)

FC: Fabian De Freitas (Bolton)

Bench: Hans Segers (Wimbledon), Robin van der Laan (Derby), Wim Jonk (Wednesday), Marc Degryse (Wednesday), Richard Sneekes (Derby), Orpheo Keizerweerd (Oldham), Luc Nijholt (Swindon)

You are a bizarre man! But I like the team.

 Excellent. It certainly adds to it when they're all foreign and stupidly named.

Here's my effort -

GK: Bernard Lama

DR: Pontus Kamark

DC: Bjorn Otto Bragstad

DC: Stefan Schnoor

DL: Horacio Carbonari

MR: Ronnie Ekelund

MC: Bontcho Guentchev

MC: Fitzroy Simpson

ML: Preki

CF: Clyde Wijnhard

CF: Bryan Roy

Bench: Gabor Kiraly, Nikola Jerkan, Aljosa Asanovic, Branko Strupar, Gregory Goodridge, Ned Zelic, Nelson Vivas.

Honrourable mentions for Martin Pringle and Alex Nyarko (nutter!)

How about Robert Jarni?

Croatian left back signed for Coventy from Real Betis. Made a grand total of 0 appearances before moving onto Real Madrid about 30seconds later!

T4E, you will be surprised to hear this, but you have sent me into quasi-raptures.

Some of those names hail back to the era of my full, unadulterated childish fascination with football - and, amazingly, they still shimmer with the Godliness that I dutifully honoured them with.

Exactly what I feel too. In one way, I think it's hilarious that I viewed below average players such as Justin Edinburgh, Oleg Luzhny, Efan Ekoku etc. as footballing legends and Demigods, just because they played in the Premier League, but I must admit that not a day passes without me thinking of random players such as Lars Leese and Curtis Fleming. @#/?, yet still legends.

Random Norwegian 90s Premier League Stars XI:

GK: Frode Grodås (Chelsea, Spurs)

DR: Gunnar Halle (Oldham, Leeds, Bradford)

DC: Alf Inge Håland (Nottingham Forest, Leeds, City)

DC: Bjørn Tore Kvarme (Liverpool)

DL: Stig Inge Bjørnebye (Liverpool, Blackburn)

MR: Petter Rudi (Sheffield Wednesday)

MC: Kåre Ingebrigtsen (Man City)

MC: Ståle Solbakken (Wimbledon)

ML: Trond Egil Soltvedt (Coventry, Southampton)

FC: Frank Strandli (Leeds, voted worst Leeds player ever by the Leeds fans)

FC: Jostein Flo (Sheffield United)

Subs: Espen Baardsen (Spurs), Erland Johnsen (Chelsea), Tore Pedersen (Oldham, Wimbledon, Blackburn), Stig Johansen (Southampton), Jon Olav Hjelde (Nottingham Forest), Steffen Iversen (Spurs), Jan Åge Fjørtoft (Swindon, Boro, Barnsley)

Vinny Jones

post-14-1103798552.jpg

Somehow he managed to play for Wales!

Taken from Wiki

Jones's international call-up was however greeted with consternation and even ridicule by Jimmy Greaves, who said, "Well, stone me! We've had cocaine, bribery and Arsenal scoring two goals at home. But just when you thought there were truly no surprises left in football, Vinnie Jones turns out to be an international player!".

There are some very respectable players popping up on this thread. Hinchcliffe, Stimac, Kinkladze, Rosler, Lomas. All quality performers.

-Hinchcliffe was a very solid pro who was a starter at both Wednesday and Everton for donkeys years. He even played for England.

-Stimac was part of that awesome Croatian side of the late 90s and plyed his trade in England for a couple of seasons.

-Kinkladze was a supremely gifted footballer and he is widely regarded by the Citeh fans as one of their finest ever players.

-Rosler was a very capable centre forward who led the line for Citeh for a good couple of years.

-Lomas was a veteran Premiership player who played almost 300 times for Citeh and West Ham.

I'm not picking on any one poster, I'm just referring to players I've seen mentioned on this page. There is a difference between unspectacular players (Kinkladze aside) who have been retired for a couple of seasons and random or fleeting appearance holders. Great shout on Martin Pringle by the way.

Has William Prunier been mentioned yet?

Try READING the topic: OBSCURE former players.....meaning those who barely played are included. Don't be pedantic (I realise that I am being pedantic too, but I'm being correct).

I reiterate my favourite being ROY WEGERLE!!!!!

Might amend my team to include Roland Nilsson and Rufus Brevett

Didn't Rufus Brevett play for Fulhame and scored an own goal once at Ewood and the Rovers fans started chanting "Rufus Rufus give us a wave", think his performance just went from bad to worse after that and he was subbed.
