SouthAussieRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I'm not denying that.. just stating a fact. History now. Get over it and move on.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Did that ball touch the ground? Definitely a bounce...
pg Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 And Hughes is given out on a dropped catch. Again...just stating the facts.
SouthAussieRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Useless eastern States players. Buy some some glasses pg.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Convinced looking at the replays that should not be out.
SouthAussieRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hughes started to walk so that should be enough.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hughes started to walk so that should be enough. It wouldn't have helped his case that’s for sure but it should have referred it to the third umpire.
DeadlyDirk Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Well we are definitely having the luck this morning, definite no ball for the Katich dismissal and looked like the ball touched the ground on the Hughes dismissal, hard to tell if he had his fingers underneath but certainly the benefit of the doubt went with us, it but you'd think they'd have gone to the third umpire who would have ruled it not out. Still though that's how cricket goes, you get some big decisions your way and some that go against you, not usually 2 big ones in a row though!! Oh how I love the look on Ponting's face when something goes against him, unfortunately he'll definitely be wanting to get stuck in now. A lot of cricket still to be played but England firmly in the driving seat.
pg Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Useless eastern States players. Buy some some glasses pg. My glasses are fine. Have a look at Strauss' fingers. They move twice. The first time his fingers 'stop' the ball... the second time they move underneath the ball the actually pick it up off the grass. The only positive thing to come out of this match from an Australian point of view now is for Hussey to get some more runs (in addition to his 50 in the 1st innings) and get into some good form. The only thing that can save Australia now is this: Severe weather warning for Southern England
Exiled_Rover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 We've had luck today, but I'm not going to bemoan it - neither would the Aussies if the coin fell their way. Ponting is the big wicket for mine - he could bat two days quite comfortably if we're not careful.

Applause to Hughes for starting to walk. One positive from this match may be the dropping of Haddin and the insertion of Manou as WK.
stuwilky Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 And Hughes is given out on a dropped catch. Again...just stating the facts. It didnt carry, it wasnt dropped!
pg Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 On the bright side, I can catch up on some sleep tomorrow night.
brfcshabba Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Hussey probably didn't hit that but ah well, it will even it self out.
T4E Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Probably for the best that they call it off for the day now. England need to get in and regroup, Clarke and Haddin look very comfortable. Lets let them sleep on it and get them in the morning.
philipl Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Evens all round I reckon between England, Australia and a rain affected draw.
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I still make England favourites to win this test. Have to remember that Aussie's are 5 down, one more wicket and England in box seat. If Aussies do pull this off then hats off to them, weather for tomorrow is meant to be fine.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I couldn't understand why we declared this morning, we should have sent the tail out to throw the bat. A quick 60, 70 would have really put the game out their reach. We would still have had plenty of time to bowl them out. Setting an un- gettable target would have made it more difficult mentally for the Aussies. First rule - make sure you can't lose.
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I think that England did the right thing declaring with a 522 lead, that is more enough, if the Aussies make it then they have broken the world record and fair credit to them. There was no point England wasting an hour this morning when the bowling conditions were favourable adding to their score, have to remember that in that first hour we took 2 wickets.
broadsword Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Batting for a bit longer would still have given us five sessions to bowl them out though, and it would've rammed home our superiority. Nothing to lose and everything to gain by batting one more session, it wouldn't have mattered if we'd have lost cheap wickets.
BuckyRover Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Don't worry. The bowlers were tired by the end of the day. They will come out tomorrow refreshed and do the business, and like kamy says if Australia do win tomorrow you have to say well done. We have played well.
neekoy Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 As if it wasn't hard enough with an out of form bowling attack, dropping catches, missing the cutting edge and we get 5 horrible decisions against the Aussie in one test. Katich not out, Hughes not out, Hussey not out....ceratinly would make some difference to the 2nd innings scorecard. Love the mental toughness shown by the aussies when faced with such adversity. I still think England will win but they have had it handed to them on a plate by Australia not taking advantage of chances and terrible umpiring.
